Thank you very much for posting these vids, awesome stuff!
Ninja on point as usual =)
Thanks for the vids. I remember watching those wednesday night and as always you put on a great show as well as use a lot of good ideas. The karakusa -> s.mp -> karakusa is something I’ve started playing with and it adds nice diversity and a bit of an amusement factor to play. Question though, do you use hk karakusa after s.mp or mk karakusa? In training, I’ve been able to mk karakusa after a s.mp, but that’s while standing and not after a karakusa. I’m not sure if my timing is just not consistent or if it’s a range issue. Thanks again.

Ninja: BTW are you doing s.mp -> hayate cancel -> karakusa?
Or s.mp -> karakusa?
I used mk karakusa, I find that lk karakusa comes out to frikken fast at times and I will whiff then die.
Sick shit right here, very well done! You, Flash and vryu have inspired me to stick it out with Makoto, even though it is much easier for me to win with Guy, and much, much easier to win with Rufus!

I’m hardly a good Makoto, still trying to adapt with her style.
Some of the jump ins were failed Tsurugis, I should really stop jumping in especially against Guile. I also tend to screw up Tsurugis after a Fukiage, direction is sometimes confusing.
Any advice or comments are appreciated, thanks.

Hey,
I’m a beginner in Versus Fighting Games and I have to confess that I fell in love with Makoto, a hard character to use. I have recorded three or four videos of random matchs on Xbox Live. I want to increase my level so I take any advice, or any critics on my fighting style.

Here’s the stream of the tournament ninjaCW won.
Regarding the Sagat fights:
Never do random Ultra 2 as Makoto. It’s a punish ultra, make sure you’re punishing something. It’s easier to watch for double fireballs by jumping over one (or ducking a high tiger shot) and buffering the U2 motion. Once the first fireball passes, if you see another one come out, punish that one. Your reaction to it will be much greater than attempting to anticipate a single fireball. Also, if you’re going to use U2, make sure you get the follow up down solid. Losing that extra 200 damage from the tsurugi and hayate is a huge blunder.
Also, if you’re against any fireball spamable character and using U2, I would suggest Focusing a lot more of their normal fireballs and build meter with IA Tsurugi to jump over their fireballs. Do this particularly if you have a life lead.
Good combos on the 2nd Sagat video, but he seemed to start to respect your makoto and blocked frequently. If you practiced feints, you could of landed so many more chokes/mix ups against him.
I would suggest stopping the “random” EX Hayate attemps to catch someone off guard. It’s pretty unsafe for the most part.

Anyone have odd karakusa successes? Usually I don’t grab people mid attack, might be a side effect of EXing sometimes, but against Akuma I got a really odd weird one.

~30 seconds in, karakusa caught Akuma’s standing roundhouse.
nice… but weird
I had something similar happen vs boxer’s armored dash punch, did a non ex karakusa as it got near me and grabbed him >_>
It would have grabbed between the active frames of the two hits, looked awesome lol
SeanMiyagi’s Makoto in action. Critique!

Another small batch of my Makoto. I really need to start using feints more often. I use them in Endless, but I tend to stick to straight damage in ranked. Opinions and advice is welcome.

EDIT: I’m aware I try to FADC Hayate’s too often. I’m working on cutting back on that/not using it ever.
Alioune (by far the best european vanilla player (with sagat, which he dropped in ssf4)) uploaded one of the matches we did together.
A missed IA tsurugi ruined my 2nd round xDDD
Btw, its REALLY difficult to go out of corner pressure. His Cammy is really strong.
Oh, a thing i noticed with makoto’s walking speed is that its sometimes difficult to block crossup. I used to play gouki in vanilla, so, when I anticipated crossup, i just walk forward a bit to guard the other way. With makoto, you cannot walk to do this And that’s difficult against crossup/non-crossup wakeup games
You can see option select -> ultra1 in first round (as well as option select -> ultra1 for cammy in 3rd round too ) If I had ultra, i think i could cancel the frames of my backdash to punish his ultra. (His ultra hit me on the ground, so, it means i finished the backdash airborn frames.so i COULD do ultra)
