Watching real matches, I notice it’s pretty rare that you get to use EX Fuki mix ups more than twice in matches.
Not sure if it’s because it’s hard to connect sometimes, or just that people die before they can do more. x)
idk what you’re talking about. i almost never have meter cause I’m always using ex fuki mix ups. also how come tetsu has a seemingly flawless connection to glossy but im always laggy as hell… maybe its cause of the replay?
meaning i almost never use ex oroshi or super. the reset with j.hp and the soft kd with hk tsu are more than enough to deal with for the opponent.
My primary mixups are EX Fuki based, even with that, you get almost as far of a corner carry with EX Fuki and then MP/HP Hayate, but with +38/48 damage on it. Worth the half the character length difference for the damage overall.
So after ex fukiage, into mk tsurugi and then ex oroshi in the corner you get hard knockdown mixup and the stun is incredible. I usually win the round after this.
I wonder if we have some undiscovered setups after EX Oroshi in the corner. Wasn’t really something worth researching before but now… Hum
I bet there’s an unblockable tsurugi after corner ex oroshi
didnt someone post an unblockable on poison or someone like that? it was simple too. dash dash tsurugi
It’s funny, had they not added red focus i would continue to be real liberal with my meter use but as the game progresses I can see red focus is going to be super important so I’ve been doing strictly meter building combos until I have 2 bars and can get max damage and stun off of any conversion if mak has 3 bars it’s ggs sir lol. She’s gonna play a lot different down the road.
I have a bunch of ae2012 corner post ex oroshi setups listed here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AopS95bxYd-FdG1vZTI5ekNKcXNza1oyMERFOUxUbEE&usp=drive_web#gid=0
From the few times I’ve tried these should still work like in 2012, you just have to add 11f if they use dwu. Ex oroshi, dash, dash j.hp -> Ex oroshi, any normal oroshi, j.hp.
Also dwu makes attempting these pretty risky since you put yourself in the corner if you do a normal timed setup. I think with practice you might be able to do a dwu timed setup and only jump when you see the technical appear. Might be too fast though, seems really tight.
Edit: You can do a normal timed corner setup and if they use dwu react with a kara tsurugi to avoid shoryus and bait stand tech mashing. Probably whiffs on some characters and you’re still stuck in the corner with frame disadvantage if they block.
RFA a nice comeback tool for sure. I don’t see any reason to conserve meter, well, because if you’re able to spend meter for ex fuki you’re probably winning the match anyway And if you’re losing, you’ll probably have the meter to spend!
Thanks for posting this! What’s st.UB?
Against DWU for corner Oroshi, you can perform your setup as normal and look for the technical during the jump. If DWU, don’t Tsurugi. Land instead and perform V-Ryu’s landing frame trick with t.MP or t.HK. Leave the opponent in the corner (t.MP) or cross up certain characters (t.HK) but most importantly, the pressure doesn’t end. Basically just plink the attack on landing if you haven’t seen the video. It looks like Makoto will land in the corner but stays on the same side instead.
Standing unblockable, they can block crouching non-crossup. Thanks, will try that.
Edit: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AopS95bxYd-FdGMyZWFqRlVaTDlkd0dSSC1RZ3ZPYkE&usp=drive_web#gid=0 Against delayed wakeup. I haven’t tested any of these but they should all work in theory. I’ll finish it sometime this week
Weird match really. Doesn’t feel like there’s much of a typical gameplan against her so far.

Treat her like Chun. Elena don’t love HK Tsurugi. The problems we encounter with her comes from the lack of experience in this MU,same story against the others newcomers. ATM I can see only Hugo as a future problematic matchup. We still learning new stuff with Makoto, that’s why I’m not worried about losing some matches now. When an official frame data comes out we can make a better gameplan against Elena punishing what is punishable.
Chun has been giving me trouble since Ultra tho. She’s not an easy match either, especially agressive Chuns for me.
But I agree, the new characters don’t scare me much in the long run, beside Hugo and maybe Poison.
Chun is annoying even for me for different reasons (turtle Chuns the most),but like against her we need to fight Elena with patience. Once she’s in the corner is DEAD. Her reversal is safe jumpable and HK Tsurugi is GDLK against her because Elena’s crouch pokes are really fast and have a long reach, hard to stop/counter them.
idk, decapre seem to be very troublesome at the moment, at least for me.

Same for me. Against competent decapres it can get pretty frustrating.
