Makoto Video Thread/Match Critiques

that’s why mixing kara-EXkarakusa is good.

but i think that you will say that if you do kara-EXkarakusa, they will jump.

i’m just saying that dashing into someone like that is a massive gamble unless you KNOW they’re going to backdash or neutral jump. guess wrong against half the cast and you’re looking at eating 300-400 damage and an untechable knockdown with the worst wakeup options in the game. i don’t think you could tell me with a straight face that it isn’t very risky, and that’s all i was getting at above.

haven’t seen a new vid in this thread for a while = \ Need to study more good Makoto videos lol

The first two are against Takehiko’s amazing DJ and the last one is the absolute destruction of the best Hakan in the world.

Not sure why he kept going for that option select against Viper since if it gets blocked it cancels into fukiage and leaves you wide open unless you use f+lk or something. Guess it paid off at least once though.

painfull memories :frowning:

meaty 2lp OS ultra vs viper will beat reversal EX seismo and reversal EX burning (if done correctly… do it too quick and there a 2lp cancel fuki :frowning: )

Great Video’s Fragment, you had some nice comebacks in your vids. You were great at reading your opponents and those were some well placed karakusa’s.

@ cydvis props for playing Makoto at a tournament you did good, looks like Viper was just locking you down with offense and you didn’t get many chances to keep the pressure on. I especially liked your matches with Boxer, You were getting owned by headbutt reversals for a while but you were able to read your opponent and take a few games. This seems like another tough match for Makoto but you played it pretty well.

yes, but lose to backdash :(:(:(:(:(:frowning:

btw, you should use more jumpin OS crHP against viper. Thunder knuckle is very slow (you can guard), and crHP beats backdash and EX seismo.

When he starts thinking “holy shit, i have to stop all those random things on wakeup”, it will be great

jump-in OS c.hp will allow you to block hp TK?

Justin Wong is a Makoto player now . . . Nice!

wow I was not expecting to see Justin Wong playing Makoto lol. He really dominated some of those matches with just his ability to make good reads. He also landed almost every single Oroshi he went for lol.

after the beating he took at Evo he might be taking a hard look at the cast again lol

I ain’t JWong, but I figured I’d toss together some of my better matches and throw them up on youtube today since I will probably be playing more BB now that CS is out:

YouTube - illDiology’s Channel

I don’t have the most exciting Mak by any means, but its usually good enough to hang around 3000 pp on psn for whatever that’s worth - I often get friend/match requests from very good players. Anyway I guess if I had to pick one vid it would probably be this:

Since the only strategy I’ve found to work against 'Sim is to play for a time-out draw. I did the same thing against Honda when I used Fuerte in vanilla. Oh well, check the vids out if you are bored I guess.

i’m not convinced by wong’s makoto :frowning:
(and opponent getting hit by every stMP -> non-EX oroshi xD)

I was convinced of him but then again he just happened to block everything I get hit by which makes me :frowning:

His reactions are also better than mine are and people didn’t test him nearly as much as they do me, but again he blocks in those situations where I would get hit. But I’m gonna try some of those s.mp xx oroshi on BLOCK and see what happens. . .looks like I am giving people to much credit rofl.

I guess it’s hard to block oroshi on reaction? He doesn’t really stick to a pattern with his block-strings or pokes, a lot of high-low frame-trap mix-ups. His spacing and reactions are completely on point too.

what i wanted to say is that he wins because of his general knowledge of the game, reflex and defense. Not really because of makoto’s tools. No anti-air fukiage, no confirmable wakeup pressure, etc
I’d say that if he used another character, he would beat those dictator/boxer too.

heyyy guis3 i no i justt sterted but h3rs mi mak0to i hop eu likeit

i saw nothing impressive in the wong video, he knows how to block and got hella lucky with oroshi

that sim match was painful to watch, every time you get a KD on him you need to be in his face, learn to wait for his aa attacks after you jump and jump in on him more, our attacks beat his aa normals just like any other char when timed right… when people are being a bitch and running with sim your ex haya will get you in if they tele away… or just dash, but well played all the same i usually get impatient and end up eating fireballs

Timed right, yes.

Safe jump in os c.hp beats every button she can press on wakeup except hp super.
