Xian goes with some unblockables (or hard to block) setups to stay at Haitani’s level. I play often with a Gen user able with those Oga shit,if you don’t know how get out from those the match it’s over. Gen is fuckin’ good in footsies department, but without those ambiguous jumpins/Oga unblockables on our wakeup, the match is hard for him. Haitani isn’t a setup master,he don’t love those, but at the same time he don’t know other characters setups that well.
GGs
Haitani on crack
Seeing you on commentary at NEC reminded me of this thread. The setup either a max range kara karakusa, or an ambiguous j mk. I’m going to make a few videos of this type of thing. after ex tsurugi people really don’t expect the grab
What the heck was that from haitani vs gackt OMG!!!

GIF For the funny
Taken from myself and a good friend practice weekly ft10. both character specialists. Makoto vs Hakan
A lot of unnecessary resets for practice/random dropping due to online play
Was focusing on practicing plink tsurugi and optionselect ex hayate vs BD.
Pretty rare to get footage from Haitani this way.
Sadly, he only uses Makoto once, at 7:50 against a Ryu.
A bunch of match with his Viper tho.
I like how Playing makoto affects your other chars way to play. When the round begins, he will dash forward, cmk hado. That’s not very common.
I really like that series
I only use ultra 1 period actually. I do think there is an argument to be made for ultra 2. If they aren’t throwing fireballs at you when you have it stocked then thats a pretty crucial space control tool they no longer have access to–if what you’re saying is true. Ryu with no fireball is a shitty character.
So glad citi won that. no disrespect, but I don’t feel tinchi is a very strong makoto. Especially after seeing that tier chart.
Master Bloothy is a savage. Played him so many times online.
Tinshi is pretty strong actually. He has a really good mindset when it comes to the character. You could look at matches of Haitani and think hes playing terribly and others where he gets the correct read and kills someone in like 15 seconds. It just depends on how the match went and what both players were thinking. Not to mention its a mirror match and each player knows the character better than a typical match, even among top players (considering how much a specialist most Makoto players are).
I appreciate your outlook and agree with you about the character and viewing matches. It wasn’t just based off this match though. Also the tier chart was fairly terrible, I also realize that is a subjective opinion. Difference in thought on the character I guess, I see a lot of karakusa>nothing as well. Doesn’t really make sense to me.
This is why i think this matchup is in Mak’s favor or at least even.
Oh, I definitely feel like Makoto - Ibuki is 5-5.
There’s a LOT of Haitani vs Sako matches out there, and results have always been pretty even.
I’m not a great fan of U2 against her tho. Might need to change my mind about it but I just like U1 more.

My main training partner, good friend and one of the other constant top 3 tournament placers in my area is an Ibuki player. I used to feel the same way about U1 being better until I switched to U2. First time I hit him with it, he asked if it was random, second time he got angry, not he complains about U2 shutting down his offense midgame.
Its more of the threat once they know.
I think in the neutral game it’s 5-5. Once one character gets a knockdown its 6-4 in that characters favor
