TLC Master is a great player but I kept on thinking, “Chris G must not know the matchup.” I saw a bunch of dash punches that weren’t punished.
I agree. Master also did a lot of meaty sMP that could have been stuffed by a good srk ex.
Little Makoto miroir from Haitani
Interesting use of Ultra 2. I usually only run Ultra1 in this one.
Ultra II is the new ultra I lol good for any MU!
seriously though, I see Ultra II being used in a lot more MUs than before. I guess people are find more and more specific punishment situations per character to justify it’s use?
No. Simply Abare Tosanami is good against Makoto’s karakusa attempts and against her backdashes. Having 47f of recovery is like whiffing an Ultra,so better go with the damagest one.
Outside few matches I don’t use U2 much often because in SF4 Abare Tosanami is 9/10 random: good level players don’t attempt any fireball once you have it stocked, they also know you can’t combo it from nothing. U2 is good against scrubs who don’t knows her anti-fireball properties, backdash lovers, grapplers and characters with great corner pressure (so you have a chance to leave).
Plus miscalculate the right angle is too easyand you’re almost fucked up if your opponent block. The Abare Tosanami start animation doesn’t help with that (try punish an medium/hard crouch move midscreen),that’s why even in 3s you see it only from st.hp. Also I’m against having Abare Tosanami as a Super because Makoto needs too much meter in SF4.
The Haitani vs Chiba match is over an year old.
Sorry for the bad quality.
It’s about an automatic guard that you get after an empty jump. If you hold backjump, and since you are not allowed to jump for 4 frames, the game will choose the only option possible : guard (it doesnt work for lows). You can also begin a tsurugi with a backjump (but you gotta go fast). This will beat grabs and reversals but will be beaten by slower normals.
Haitani vs Daigo Topanga A
If you’re fast enough to catch it before it eventually get taken down
Daigo knows Haitani very well. U2 seems the Ultra to go in this mu,but I’m not really in love with. Seichusen isn’t random like Abare, even at medium levels our opponent knows is better don’t try to throw a fireballs. Plus almost every fireballer in the game has an useful reversal so they can refuse our pressure with, especially if they have meter. I don’t think is a bad matchup or whatever, but I can understand how difficult is get closer against an opponent who knows how to deal with Makoto mixups. Haitani is impressive because he don’t use ANY anti-shoryu setup, only his talent help him in an engine where do a reversal is that easy.
Hope Capcom look at that mash-dp issue, with the actual reversal window keep offense with a character like Makoto is really hard sometimes. #rant
I’ve always thought Makoto just loses to mashing in general. Honestly, crouch and spam jabs at a medium distance with anyone and it just seems to make her life harder than it should be. Heck, I’ll do it if i’m playing another character versus a Makoto. You can even see Daigo throwing out some crouching jabs in that match. Shuts down her dash which is like 90% of her gameplan imo.
Haitani vs Daigo
The link you give has been created on 2013-10-28 when the fight occured on 2013-11-02. It may be topanga league A, but it’s not 2013.
You can also see his match vs. wao on youtube - I didn’t bother linking it because the only versions so far are either low quality or have text scrolling across the screen the entire time.
Scratch that, seems like most of Haitani’s matches so far are available on youku.
vs wao (0-3)
vs Daigo (3-2)
vs Momochi (2-3)
vs Fuudo (0-3)
vs Michael-tan (1-3)
vs Sako (0-3)
vs Bonchan (3-1)
vs Uryo (1-3)
vs Dashio (3-0)
vs Mago (1-3)
vs Kazunoko (3-0)
I’ll all the rest of the links if they appear online
Th match I posted was played previously to the League. Haitani lost 3-1 on the first match, but won 3-2 on the second.
Low-quality capture of Haitani-Fuudo has appeared on YouTube. Probably won’t last long, though. Fuudo and Michael-tan have also appeared on youku.
My first time actually seeing wao play, sweet jesus, what a monster. He willingly squares off against haitani at mak’s cMP range and makes it look like the most worthless poke in the game, and then he just completely shut’s down all the dash-in attempts and focus crumples several tsurugi’s. I think that set is going to give me nightmares, what can a poor karate girl to do against fiends such as this.
Wow this is actually the best thread on the internet. Time to study Makoto/Ryu all I had before was Haitani DESTROYYYYYYYYING Valle (CaliPower)
I hadn’t seen that video before. What an absolute beating.
That match between Wao and Haitani made me openly weep though.
