-Finish those combos! Mak doesn’t have many true blockstrings, and ending in sweep is dangerous (you ate a few supers because of it)
-Jump ins man, it doesn’t have to be complicated, j. hp, st. hp, hp hayate is really good. No reason to go for untrue block string shenanigans. That stuff won’t work on good players.
-Hit confirms! They would fit perfectly into your game! cr. lp, s. lp, s. mp/cr. lk are good ones to start with. Don’t forget to tack a hayate or ex oroshi (don’t risk any other oroshi since it won’t combo) on if they’re in hit reel. If they’re mashing you can stop your hit confirms to bait SRKs too. Or go for IAT if they’re mashing throw tech.
-Work on your pokes man! As soon as you started using more buffered cr. mps, you started to get momentum. That said, you often gave up that momentum going for untrue block strings…but hey, the match totally changed once you started throwing those pokes out there. Do that more! Don’t get predictable of course…try to sweep ryu’s sweep on reaction for example.
-Work on the spacing for your tsurugis, mingo hardly ever missed AAs. Same goes for your jump ins, you don’t want to jump at mingo when he’s jabbing or just sitting there, wait for a hadou or a fwd. hp. Hadou you can jump over, fwd. hp you can IAT, sweep, or cr. mp, hayate if you catch it early enough.
Good stuff though man, you’re definitely improving, we just get you outta some of your bad habits.
Tsurugi isn’t always that punishable, if done low enough it’s -1. I’m relatively sure a far-away Tsurugi can even be positive on block if it hits late in the arc; well, it seems that way anyway :).
Yeah, the axe kicks there were a little too high for a solid player. Even if Mak was reading a throw at point blank like that, it could be done lower to the ground and make the frame disadvantage negligible. For Dudley, lvl 2 focus vs. axe kicks in footsie range and st.mk (early, to avoid trades) vs. axe kicks point blank are really your best options, since it does push him back a ways on block and I know how much of a pain in the ass it is for Dudley to get in in this game.
Just finished up a rough tutorial for kara-karakusa stuff, let me know what you guys think! I was thinking about doing a series on basic to intermediate stuff if they’re well received. My execution is terrible, but hey…

Oh and I finally found an at least mediocre way to record video, so I’ll be uploading matches soon.
It’s a good sentiment, but it’s not a very good video. That’s basically watching you mess up kara-Karakusa over and over, with a brief and limited explanation of its functions. If I were you, I would record it so that you do a few, quick overviews of the execution and applications, then show a bunch of block-strings and mix-ups including them. Segmented examples would be fine, no need for one take.
Stuff like:
j.HP, st.MP/cr.LP -> st.LP, Blockakusa to go for the reset.
After air-to-air or AA, dash, Blockakusa.
st.HK/f+HP (single), st.LK kara-Karakusa.
IA MK Tsurugi (blocked), kara-EX Karakusa to catch jabs.
Backthrow, empty jump, st.LK kara-Karakusa.
General block strings into f+LK kara-Karakusa, go nuts here, using cr.LP, st.LP, f+MP, cr.LK, and f+LP.
Hey robo, people keep sending me messages asking me to record another tutorial. You mind helping me with the format? Any ideas? I’m going to start recording tonight and try to have it done this weekend. I want it to cover everything for 2012, including advanced stuff (my last one stopped at intermmediate). Let me know you’re thoughts mayne.
Anyone else too… Let me know your ideas guys. The video can be as long as you want it. I’m aiming for about 20 minutes.
I really like the way Thirtyfour did his tutorial:

I would love a new tutorial getting everything in there. What I would do, were I creating the tut, would be 3-5 minute segments on her Karakusa, her Tsurugi, and of course hit-confirms, meaties, buffer pokes, AAs, Hayate Cancels, FA mix-ups, a section on how to deal with FAs/neutral jumps, and the biggest one of all, her block-strings, with all the tricks she has, like her shimmy, her kara-throw (looking for Fukiage), kara-Karakusa situations, etc.
I would very happily give you a layout I would personally use for each section, if you’d like a guideline
Hey man, if you’re interested in writing it out, I’m all for it. I kind of liked the way 34 did it, but i access those videos all the time and I preferred longer vids like the Option Select tutorials… LOVED their format. here’s one of my favorites:

I’d like to model it after these. I wouldn’t mind making 3 seperate vids, but between that one, and Rudy’s 3s Makoto Tutorial i like the longer ones better. 34s is easy to access, and well organized, just for me, i need all the information at once.
But Maybe I can do, like one long video, and then some supplimentary vids? Covering all of the general stuff in the training room and then using clips from acutual matches to suppliment the training vid. I don’t know. we’ll see. I’ll start to develop the intro and writing some stuff. I don’t want everyone peeking into our vid so if you could just PM the info to me :)P to everyone else lmao).
Again, if anyone else has ideas, please let me know. can’t wait to get started on this!
Ha, you’re overestimating me robo! Not sure I could do any of those things anyways!
I did it in a single take cause I don’t have much experience with editing video. No software installed aside from movie maker, and I couldn’t figure out simple ways to edit the video. That and it ran at like 8-10 fps while in movie maker, which made it difficult to even discern where I was in the footage. After messing around with settings and different video recording software for a good 3 hours, I just wanted to get something out there!
Thanks for the advice though man, but if you and mossad are going to work on something, I may as well bow to the masters haha.
