Awesome stuff. I really liked the Dhalsim matches. It’s interesting to watch the two characters with the most extreme playstyles in the game duke it out. Watching your vids makes me realize I have a long way to go and that I should really hunker down and work on my fundamentals.

Those were some good matches. I’d recommend U2 against Gouki and Dhalsim, sometimes Sagat. U1 isn’t too safe with lag online, you get Ex srk or tiger’d out of them. I’ve noticed you like to close the distance with Ex Hayate, I dunno how safe that is but it seems to work for you. Good stuff. Consider U2 sometimes.

Yeah, abusing hayate too much is a bad habit of mine right now because 90% of the time people don’t seem to realize that you can punish it. Or they do realize it, but don’t react quickly enough.

I also miss links I shouldn’t be missing quite a bit.

Disagree about U1, though I would’ve said the same thing (about the Sim match, anyway) before Ninja explained his rationale behind using U1 against Fillipino Champ. As far as it being unsafe online, it’s plenty safe, I just need to work on my mashing skillz.

U1 doesn’t need mashing really, You just gotta time it properly. However online i tend to put the input in earlier than i would offline. Then i see a slight delay n i think i whiff but it comes out just as i think that or sometimes i get ex fukiage instead which is annoying.

I like your Makoto style it’s patient. My Makoto doesn’t know what block is. Holding back throws out a Hayate. lol.

Trust me on this one Gouki and Sim rear U2. I don’t like how ppl bash on this Ultra as being weak. If you follow up after with juggles you should get the same dmg output as U1 or close enough.

I’m definitely guilty of not pressuring enough as well, however my big problem with her is that she seems to be too reliant on her dash for closing the distance. I’m used to characters like Gen, Chun & Adon that actually have a fast (or at least respectable) walk speed, where I can manuver in and out of footsies and block as soon as possible. Once Makoto commits to a dash she doesn’t have that luxury. Right now if I get agressive I eat jab spam or some SRK reversal. Wakeup pressure depends entirely on your opponent’s character and their playstyle. I’ve been fighting WAY TOO MANY flowchart scrubs online that SRK me as soon as I even think about applying wakeup pressure, so I’ve developed a bad habit of not pressuring people as much as I should (online in general has given me some terrible habits :/).

In general I find that when I try to be offensive I end up having to play defensively because I find it to be very difficult to safely approach some characters. That’s just been my experience though.

Although I really do need to play some games and say “fuck it,” and go all out with offense–should be entertaining at least.

Honestly, I don’t think Makoto wants to be in her opponent’s face. You want to make sure to stay around max mp range. Dashing in and getting closer than that is only ok after you’ve conditioned the opponent to not press buttons through frame traps or just out right beating their shit down. THEN you can get in their face and start grabbing them.

The only time I think it’s ok to be nose to nose distance is after you get an untechable knockdown. That’s when you want to get in and press your meaties and safe jumps. But hey, different strokes for different folks, I guess. If you’re winning, then you’re winning.

Yea, I think in her face to inside sweep range is where makoto wants to be. If u fear reversals, backdash out. But condition the opponent to block with a lot of frame traps or moves with a lot of frame advantage cuz then it opens up other stuff for u.

I like using abare against Bison. Especially Bisons I haven’t played before. Because a lot of them like to do devils reverse and land on the other side of the screen and you can punish that with Abare.

Viper: Anti air MORE!!! PUNISH HARD DAWG!! Play your game not his!

Ibuki: More Mixups instead of just cross ups. Loved the kara setups. Also, you can punish ibukis slide move with a karausa.

Honda: In that match up you gotta make sure you punish hard and capitalize on his mistakes every second of the round. Also hondas headbutt can be grabed on startup so if you see a headbutt coming on wake up you can grab him out of it. (Suggest hitting the lab on that):rock:

You can EX Hayate punish MP/HP headbutt as well on block (kinda like Abel’s CoD punish). One of my favorite options to make them cut that shit out, when I’m not getting decent MP interrupts.

And really, Kara headbutts? I gotta try that, sounds delicious.

just mix your karakusa game and you’ll be fine…just make sure u land them first…TAKE A LOOK AT THE FIRST MATCH, SECOND ROUND…AN IDEA OF HOW THE KARAKUSA SHOULD BE USE…WORKS ON MOST CHARACTER
