was it confirmed that ex fuki crossdown doesn’t work in ultra?

I remember reading somewhere on here that the crossdowns were tested and are unfortunately not in the game.

Wait wait wait. You mean I can’t force an air reset and dash under the opponent? At all?

nah, i think they’re talking about using ex fuki to hit after an air reset, it doesn’t work.

I almost had a heart attack… but only sort of. idk how that would work.

Well, it worked in the first version of the Ultra SF4 mod, when they only removed the " Can’t hit ground " tag on Ex Fukiage and did no other change to the move.
They probably had to change EX Fuki hitbox a bit to prevent it from working. ( would have been insane tho, can’t blame them for removing it. Those reset were almost impossible to see in time with human reaction time. )

Hi, I was wondering what the Makoto forums think of her current changelist? I’m no Makoto player but to me it looks as though they could have basically left her alone as she is in 2012 and she could have ended up better off? I guess DWU will be a good thing as far as she’s concerned? And how about red focus?

From my humble opinion :

  • tsurugi being less safe is not good, and possibly one of the most impacting change
  • ex fuki on the ground -> ok, why not, but they lower the damage / stun output, so basically, it’s not DAT good
  • throw range increase (forward), and decrease (backthrow) is non sense
  • DWU is not a good thing for makoto offense, but very good for her defense

One of the good thing is that fLP (3f) can be linked into EX fuki, so this give makoto an answer for unsafe pressure.

If she can jump cancel blocked EX Fukiage then it becomes safe, for the most part. Missed your 3-frame window to punish with f.lp? Just jump away so you don’t die. That’s way more forgiving than any of her other specials.

DWU is a universal system change so it hurts everyone’s oki offense, but I think Makoto is not hurt as much by it because:

  1. Makoto is the queen of meaties, so if safe jump whiffs she can just stick out that s.MP
  2. DPs are more unsafe now because of them being -5 FADC so that’s more in Makoto’s favor not having to worry about reversals as much when meatying

I’m 99% certain that EX Fuki jump cancel on block isn’t even there anymore.

We may need an extra combo to kill people now. Our mixup got better (more reset opportunities) but our oki got worse (DWU). Ultra 2 got way better. Ultra 1 was toned down. Stun + Damage went down. Kind of a side-grade situation–if you don’t take into account Tsurugi. Ouch. I’d rather have more mixup than more oki. It fits my playstyle more.

I’m just curious why do you think stun and damage went down? If anything overall it went up.

overall, ex fuki is going to open up a lot of options for midscreen damage which is good. out of all the nerfs so far though, the nerf to tsurigi is probably the worst for me.

I really don’t understand it, I still hope it’s something lost in translation.
Axekick is probably the easiest special to focus crumple in this game, and you need to commit to jump before doing it. It needs to be safe on block.

Well, if it’s -3 you will get SPD or DP on block more often.
And also your pressure end yes.

worst case what are we looking at on block with tsurigi now?

This says on block for lowest instant tsurugi for lk is 0F, mk is -2F.
