Anyone got something for Balrog (checked the first post already). Still the hardest match-up for me. Anyone else I can kinda manage, but they got so much free with that damned jab.
Search the thread for boxer/balrog man, there is stuff in here already (i know i have posted a bit)
a bit late on the reply here but it really isnt that hard to reversal 720 a blocked axe kick. try it in training if you don’t believe me. our local hakan does it 100% of the time to me if i dare to axe kick once he has u1.
I’ve been following this thread for a very long time now, so i’ve read it all. Was fishing for some new thoughts on the matter
Ok well i cant remember if i posted this stuff Vs boxer:
-Lp dash straight/lk dash upper focus dash counters: if no lvl 2 fa, dash; ex karakusa/kara back throw punish ON REACTION -Lp dash low: lk karakusa/u1 punish, more recovery! Inherently risky tho (if armour breaks)
-Overhead dash punish (on block): st lp xx lp hayate (2f punish)/st mp xx ex (1f)
-Jump f + hp safe jump BEATS non ex headbutt reversal: like Honda lp headbutt!
-Neutral jump tsurugi TAP on reaction
Question:
Walk speed and dash comparison for Super Street Fighter 4 : EventHubs.com
according to this Makoto’s dash is 17 frames making it the 2nd fastest dash in the game. I don’t think this is correct, is it?
yes it is.
thanks, so, her dash speed being changed to 16 frames in arcade edition isn’t really that big of a difference
it’s the difference between being disadvantage on blocked / hit LV1 focus to being at even frames, which is quite big.
what things will we be able to do with this change? I know they’ll probably be character specific, for example, Gief won’t be able to SPD us out of it.
being at even frames + having a 3f move means the mixup afterward isn’t strongly disadvantaged anymore.
if we do an immediate throw attempt they MUST escape via jump, backdash, reversal or tech. they can’t press a 3f normal and beat it like they can now because throws beat attacks when active on the same frame.
if we do an immediate 3f move (f+lp) they must either counterthrow, reversal, backdash, or trade with their own 3f move. not all characters have 3f moves (abel, honda, viper, fuerte, etc.) so their options aren’t great -> must do something risky like give up space via backdash or attempt counterthrow/reversal or else block and succumb to continuing mixups.
i’m sure there are many more advantages, but these are two obvious situations. for instance right now after focus lv1 dash forward against chars with 3f normals (balrog, ryu, rose, etc etc.) the only thing you can do is block or sometimes ex karakusa, everything else loses to the fast jab. so that changes. (+ gief/thawk/hakan will no longer be able to ultra on reaction to focus -> dash forward)
awesome, thanks for the info, you seem to always answer my questions ^.^
That one little frame also allows for some crazy new combos. 1frame combos of course, but what else do you expect from makoto.

Makoto Arcade/DCL Changes
I hadn’t even considered her FA becoming buffed in that sense. With a +6 on blocked FA level 2, her LK Karakusa trap will be tighter than ever, and with s.MP a 2 frame link and c.LP a 3 frame link, and if it turns out her f+LP is a hit confirming beast, that being a 4 frame link, her FA mix-ups just got a lot easier.
Could you explain that please? FA1 is -21 on hit/block and has 35 recovery frames according to the frame data. Cancelling FA to dash, which is 17 frames, gives us 35-17 = 18 frames less on recovery and also on hit/block which is -3. And 16 frame dash gives us -2 on hit/block. Where am I wrong?
You’re not taking into account that you’re cancelling the recovery frames of the fa with the dash.
edit: I think? Not sure I’m following what you’re trying to say.
Oh crap. Why in the world did I even take into account FA recovery frames?! Thanks.
a dash after a focus attack is faster (I don’t remember how much, something between 1 or 3 frames faster)
edit: it’s 1f
Is there any info in here about dealing with Elf?
A 4.2k PP Elf is killing me in Endless.
All I got is fuki on his overhead grabs and f+hk to catch a blocked splash.
But its hard for me to guess rightly…
