Demon makoto. xD
Your best one yet. Where’d you get the image?
Thanks but its not finished lol.
I got the image (and have been getting many images) from http://safebooru.org. Had to modify it slightly and clean it up. But its getting there. I just dont like all of that blank space. I dont’ necessarily need to put another picutre there, but i feel that something needs to be in the background…
Blank space (or negative space as we designers call it) isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Put too much stuff there and you run the risk of cluttering up a very clean design. If you do decide to do something to the background, I suggest you make it very faint, so it doesn’t take the viewer’s eye away from Mak.
Ok Made a few adjustments and added a couple of things:
-Added slight Gaussian Blur to the main makoto
-Added her name at the top right in both Japanese and English
-Added a silhouette of another picture on the right side
-Cleaned up her right eye, and removed her MONOBROW
-also cleaned up some areas around the main picture. There were some leftover marks.
Yah? Nay? Keep, revert, or change?

Nice. Keep it. The Silhouette with the English and Japanese characters balance the main image on the left side quite nicely.
I’d use that if the pic on the left was different … maybe the one I got on my profile

I like this one and I’d like to work on my own version. Do you have one without the 3s mak?
Ah i don’t like those pictures only because I’d like Makoto depicted as more of a female. That art makes her look a little too boyish to me. I mean there is art out there that can maintain the integrety of her style while still keeping her looking like a lady (which is my intention). That’s why I go for the more femenine art. For example, here is one i’ve bee working on (not complete in the least) that maintains her style, while maintaining she is a female.
Also as has been obvious, I’ve been working with a more adult makoto. I enjoy the sexier versions, and I know its just me but I refuse to use art that depicts more boy than girl. Here you go… Advice needed cause i been working on this one for a MINUTE…
That’s right… just a little Fei Long hate…

Too bad you won´t be able to see Mak´s look on her face when punching Fei Long in the nuts the moment you put those buttons on…
THAT sir is why I use Clear Buttons :smokin:
Haha good point.
If this was mine, i´d move her face to one of the punch buttons. So when i input the correct motion and press the “GRR OMG ANGRY FACE”- button i´ll get maks angry super that i like to use for flashy comebacks.
OMG I´m losing. => Angry face button = Return of the killer tomato = Win
Yeah i’m still working on it. As with the last one, I feel like i’m missing something. Just don’t know what it is. I have like 15 stick designs that I feel are missing 1 thing before they are complete. I just have no idea whait is…
Yo mossad, to me that current one isn’t necessarily missing something. I feel that some of the pieces just don’t fit as well as they could together. The pic on the left of makoto and the Japanese text compliments eachother. The background and the in game pic gfit well together. But, imo, when you combine them they all kind of contrast.
Think of this. The “open shirt” makoto art that you posted on the last page fit flawlessly with the background. This is because that anime style type of pic goes well with colorful, solid shaped bgs. It gave the whole thing a great feel. I think that one could use more effects though. (Btw, do you still have that pic? Not for anything creepy…I swear.)
I think your best one, and most complete one though is your last one. The bg, and the silhouette are perfect. The actual solid color without any complimentary or analogous ones would not be my choice, but that’s a matter of personal preference. It fits though, and gives it a sort of retro look.
I got the picture from one of these. I think it was the first one. But they all have good pictures of Makoto Oh yeah that one was niiiiiice :).
Thanks for the advice and compliments, man… I’m working pretty hard on those. I’m really starting to get into it. The last attempt is still a work in progress. I can’t figure out exactly how to put everything together. But yeah i’m still working on it so we’ll see what i can do with it.
Questions though… what type of effects do you think i should add to the black/teal stick? I look at it and i’m trying to see what i can add and i’m just lost lol. what do you think i should focus on?
Also how shoud I experiment with the colors on the last one? i do have just the one color, but i was trying to get some new ideas to incorporate into the background. I am actually still working on all of these. I wanted to get one printed tonight. Which one do you think i should try first?
Any other suggestions are appreciated… Thanks!
Yea, you’ve improved loads. I can tell you’ve put work into these and are getting the hang of things.
Well, for the teal one, the first thing I think that could be done is make the left Makoto vectorized like she is in that same pic on the other stick. After that it’d be best to put her under the focal Makoto instead of on top like right now. That way, you’d have 1 main focal and the Makoto silhouette could improve the bg. It might seem like she is attached to the white vortex thing, and give it a cool…“makoto’s spirit is coming out of this thing,” type of feel. That would also go with that white japanese text, and possibly allow you to add more.
Another thing…do you use gradient maps and/or photo filters yet? These can be found in the Layer>New Adjustment Layer tabs. They help bring a piece together…kind of like how Godly Effects’ stick is on the last page. I typically use them for finishing touches. Normally I’ll set gradient maps to “soft light” and change the opacity between 30-50%. Photo filters will basically set a color over the whole picture, which you change the strength of, and this will help bring the focal and the background together a bit.
That’s all I got off the top of my head though.
I made this template for my etokki Omni stick. I kept kept the background simple black since the rest of the case (which the print will not cover) is black metal.

just wanted everyone to know that my printer is able to print 11 by 17. And I still have some kodak glossy paper left from my modding my second custom. I dont know who you are looking at to print (fedex office, etc)but I’ll do it cheaper
Can you send by mail ? I think it’s light enough to work right ? Although I dont know if it will fit
Zakbg, I dont know if you were asking me, but if so…I think I can mail to bulgaria. Cost of shipping may end up exceeding the cost of you printing locally. If you werent talking to me then…ignore this post : )
