Makoto combos and strats

does a tiger knee ex axe kick not hit a crouching chun li?

i went to a tourney this weekend and was going to finish off this chun li with an off the ground ex axe kick and it basicly went RIGHT THROUGH HER.

myself and everyone else was like “uhh…”

i heard she has one of the shortest crouches in the game and screws up some of dudleys combos, but the ex axe kick things really suprised me.

I thought IZU was the best Makoto in Japan and it was IZU who came to N^3 I thought, could be wrong.

Also somebody needs to check out cheymura(sp)Makoto his is dope too. Nice aggressive style.

IZU housed the tourney, but people say he’d far from the best.

if anyone wants the semis to that they can im me

I think Chemerru has the best makoto, the others are just better at street fighter.

some makoto insight for the new year

dash canceling is cool and all, but do not use it too much. anytime u cancel u still have to recover, if u abuse that shit, then u run the risk of getting hit with something, or even worse, messing up the cancel and getting your hayate blocked. best time to do it is when you see that a hayate link will not connect, if u got the eyes and hands ull be quick enough to react. if u cancel it, try to dash in for a kusa or a regular throw. if u want to try and force something, cancel in front of their face, but do it sparingly, because u run the risk of getting hit long range. (dudly fierce owns my face)

for those who dont know, EX Hayate has instant recovery, with a push back included, and block stun for your opponent to recover, therefore making a blocked EX Hayate a setup in itself. Many people will try to punish, they will lose. follow up with a crouching strong > hayate. or if your feeling the risk, go for the super(the only super SA2 since u are using an EX).

ive taken the dashing c.short>SA1 for granted. anytime ive found myself in a pinch, if im quick enough and execute correctly, i will catch an opponent waiting for me to make the first move, only hes not quick enough to react. dash under is good as well, but more seeable.

EX Axe kicks make good high/low game. c. watever>EX Axe’s, only if you can super jump straight into it, the kicks are low, if it hits u reset them, if blocked, sets up to dash in for kusa or basic throw.

thats all for now. happy new years

post ex hayate sets up for karakara btw.

uhh.

but yeah, dash canceling is fun, but putting people on the ground with an ex hayate gets you wins.

fun set up:

c.mk -> s. lk -> ex oroshi/ex axe kick

i hate chun li and ken.

that is all.

ex hayate, karakara rules.

s.strong x2 is another really good karakara setup.

You can also stand right next to your opponent, and do j.mk, axe kick, karakara. It’s pretty sketchy because the axe kick has to hit just right (pretty low), but you’ll get used to seeing the right spacing.

shouldnt you be trying to revive the ibuki forum?

In easy way to buffer the Jab Hayate xx SA1 Link is:

Jab Hayate + F,DF,D,DF,F,DF,D,DF,F input command real fast and then either Jab, Strong or Fierce for SA1.

Maybe there is an easier way to do this Link but for me this seems to be the easiest.

I may have posted this already but i dont want to look throught all the pages…

For SA2… After you do Karakusa hcb+k, then fierce into sa2 then Dash foward, then do Fukiage Dp+p.
My question is do you dash forward again and do Dp+p or just walk foward.

i always miss the 2nd punch. help out plz. need the stun combo learned quickly

i would just superjump and fierce them… maybe ex fukiage again???

and for the sa1 linked of hayate…

hit them with hayate, make the qcfx2 motion and then tap lp mp and hp really fast… like ur mashing once with blanka in cvs2… dont press them on the same time, all a bit later

it depends on your position in which u hit them on the first fukiage.

sometimes they will be behind your therefore u cant land fukiage, sometimes theyll fly in which u can EX Fukiage

i got for SJ cancel fierce as well just to be safe. or you can reset them in the air and setup for a karakusa (saw haunts do it)

do you mean that jumping lk air reset?

omg i was just practicing makoto and got that lp/lk reset, then dash under if ur fast enough and do ur shit… well its a mixup, and thats what makoto is about

Can someone post all of the uses for kara-Ex Fukiage? Specifically, I’m looking for ways to cross up a downed opponent with it. Is this possible?

Thx,

Rich

cornering

really straight forward combo:

karakusa > fierce > SAII > fierce hayate > (wall) cr.roundhouse > dash > karakusa > fierce > ex hayate

the dash > karakusa isn’t guaranteed… but gambling is all part of makoto :stuck_out_tongue:

i pull this off once in a blue moon but it’s like instant stunnage

connecting fierce > SAII is much harder than it sounds
i hate it when i do it like 2/10th of a second too slow and end up eating shinshoryuken :frowning:

only problem i see w/ that is that corner resets vs. makoto, just about everyone i play knows that im goin for a kara

I don’t know if anyone posted this, but:

karakusa -> s.fierce -> EX hayate -> jab Hayate against 12. Anyone done this? Somewhat hard when you start out…just gotta get the timing down…which I’m sure everyone here has.

alright this is a combo question

after watching a recent japanese vid in which makoto using SAII (abare), he performs the usual karakusa–>Fierce–>SAII
but afterwards
jump axe kick–>dash? fukiage–> jumping fierce

is the axe kick late or early?
is the fukiage karacancelled or dash?
