Makoto AE 2012: the nerfage

stHP HC stLK is more difficult than stHP HC stMP
stLK and stMP have same startup frames…BUT, you cant plink stLK (yes, you can with “back” button, but I have a TE, and this button is in the rear of the stick…).

And, when looking at frame data, if you want to LINK crLP->stLK (so, the stLK is “targetcomboable”), it’s a just frame…

Then, assuming that every lvl5 hayate got buffed (in the patchnote, they say 170 -> 190…only HP-hayate does 170 in AE (other do less)).
But ok, assuming they buffed every hayate with +20dmg

Assuming 1 EX:
FA3 -> Hp hayate -> LP fukiage -> EX tsurugi
387 damage

FA3 -> MK tsurugi -> stHP -> EX hayate -> LP fukiage
393 damage

lvl5 XX-hayate -> LP fukiage -> EX tsurugi
XX=HP: 408 damage
XX=MP: 398 damage
XX=LP: 388 damage

To reach lvl5 hayate:
LP: 72F
MP: 79F
HP: 84F

That’s VERY long, depending on your knockdown. I’m almost sure that opponent can mash&guard after a stun, before you reach lvl5 hayate. Even with LP-version (which does less damage than regular stun-combo).

I hope capcom will change charging time (even with that, it’s “”“useless”"")

Well that I did not know. Thanks for the tip. Still I personally feel that the focuses extra meter and the lower chance of having the opponent mash out of the stun outweighs the extra hit of combo scaling. Especially since if you have them at stun, chances are your moves are already getting scaled pretty harshly.

That being said, it is a lot closer and less clear cut than I originally anticipated.

It’s situational I think. If you got them stunned after 1 or 2 hits, then I’d go for the charged Hayate. Otherwise the focus is probably better for the meter.

Just wanted to point out the meter differences too. While the FA3-MKTsurugi might not be terribly easy it is above and beyond much better for maintaining your super meter. And FA3 - HP hayate combo gains you a lot more meter than charging hayate. With how important meter is for makoto, unless you think that the 15extra damage is going to net you the win then I’d say it is better to go with the FA.

dont forget that gaining meter, like stun or damage, is reduced by number of hit you did
1: 100%
2: 100%
3: 80%
4: 70%
etc

Ah thanks forgot to take that into account but you are still gaining FAR more meter on FA3 - MK Tsurgi

Plinking S.LK (or S.LP for other characters) with ‘back’ isn’t really practical on sticks like the TE sticks. which is why I don’t think FFTC will become the new BnB over FFS. Using ‘back’ to plink just doesn’t seem like it’ll be any more consistent or practical than just doing the combo without plinking.

In any case, AE’12 is still going to be good, not as good as AE, but still far better than Super. :slight_smile:

I was not thinking about the corner. Probably the only time this will ever get used. Unless someone is willing to FADC lvl5 for mid screen mix up. I don’t see myelf ever trying this in a serious match. I think most players would probably mash out before lvl5 is reached.

I cant stop thinking about hayate change…i can’t find anything useful in it.
If they change its charge time, AND has invulnerable active frames on lvl4/5, that can be useful.
But for now, the only moments at which you can use LP hayate lvl5 are:

  • after EX oroshi: opponent has 4 frames to move out.
  • after ultra

But even with that, you just have to guard…mixing with hayate cancel -> dash -> karakusa is too obvious (12 frames to cancel hayate, 16 frames to dash = 28 frames, without even doing karakusa…)

that sux.
I’m almost sure capcom will change things during location test.

TC buff: Will this make for a new max damage combo?
-s.HP XX HC > s.MP (maybe x2) > s.LK XX s.MK XX MK/EX Hayate
Sure theres an unplinkable 1F link, but maybe its worth it?

Here’s to hopin they gave her somethin thats throw invincible!!!

Same here, loc tests are meant to gather players opinion… I have no doubt about Capcom intentions when they want to do something with that Hayate charge, but it still needs something more… or something less, to be useful. Let’s just pray u_u

Can’t remember using it once except after a knockdown, expect maybe to bait a reversal or something, but never to release.

For the other balances, nothing to fear imo, idd 20 damage less is ridiculous, and the EX karakusa range heh… well, no more mashing during links or stuff, but dash~karakusa ex will still work…

The only thing is just that we see ALL the characters getting buffed, except the chineses… and Makoto! Everyone is enjoying their new weapons and not us! JEALOUSY! ><

Cat avatar is OP

I keep forgetting these changes aren’t set in stone. IMO, things can go one of two ways from here. They can leave her alone, or they can take more shit away. I think we can see from these changes Ono and team don’t want to make her stronger :bluu:. HOPEFULLY, the test will show that the charged Hayates might be the stupidest “buff” in the history of fighting games (unless the dev team cut the charge time w/o telling us). At least they understand that touching her core attacks would fuck her up.

They should just have a look at how difficult it is to make some good results with her.
Watch Haitani during Godsgarden, he got busted in 2 frames… (Ok, he also made a bunch of mistakes in his 2 matches n_n) I’m not saying she needs to be buffed or something, Makoto IS a good character in the game, but she still requires a HUGE load of work to win against aware/good players.

Even Blanka almost won tournaments, wtf!

Charged LP hayate lvl3&4 is felt like Ex hayate in terms of range and speed (location test feedback)

That’s more how I like it :slight_smile:

Haitani thinks AE ver 2012 would be fun for Makoto, Viper and Sagat players.

Edit: errrr wrong version lol

2010 ? Oo

lol, I meant 2012 :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks, wasn’t sure, Haitani could have been ironic or something ^^
Ghyaaah really need to get more information !

Not sure if trolling. I mean, many of the characters Makoto goes even on got buffed (Abel, Adon, Cody, Dictator, and Boxer.) Boxer, Abel and Cody most especially are going to be problems for her now. Guile too. Honestly I don’t see Makoto being a dominate force in 2012. I see her being one of those characters that one or two specialists end up playing at high level (Like Poongko with Seth or Juicebox with Juri.) She wont be low enough that noone picks her, but she wont be high enough to ever see more than 1 or 2 in a major tournament.
