Makoto AE 2012: the nerfage

I’m still charging my Hayate. Damn, this thing is gonna hurt when it hits! IF… it hits!

But how will the dash change effect that “dash, crouch jab, stand short push back” thingy that v-ryu came up with? I use it from time to time and it really works to bait a jab srk or throw tech.

Ok, after spending some time with 2012 i can say that the makoto nerfs were overhyped, and the buffs are a nice edition. The TC into L hayate is surprisingly good follow up after karakusa>HP>H Hayate (if they decide to mash out of it) and the adjusted standing HK during footies is pretty damn good too (i was able to keep Juri at bay on the ground with it). TC>L hayate is easy to perform too, just gotta be quick about it.

If you were playing as makoto in AE and no one told you it was the patch 1.06 2012 edition, you’d be hard pressed to know the difference.

TC should combo into M Hayate and lvl2 L Hayate too, right? TC -> lvl 2 L Hayate should be a really good-hit confirm combo. Plus, we can mix up between s.LK into blockusa,TC into hayate, TC into hayate charge and wait to see how opponent reacts (mash reversal should be too far to connect, i think?).

Good question. s.mk xx feint and s.mk xx charge hayate, in non-2012, keeps Makoto put. So alone, yeah, you’re in reversal range. What I imagine will shove her back, however, is the s.lk into s.mk during the TC. I personally don’t see it shoving her far enough to have dp whiff, but if it does…that’s some sexy shit.

I forgot about this minor set up: s.fierce xx feint, TC. That is, if you can still do s.fierce xx feint, s.lk in 2012. I’m gonna dry hump my 360 the first time someone eats karakusa, s.fierce xx feint, TC xx feint xx karakusa (might have to be kara?), s.fierce xx feint, s.lk xx karakusa, Ultra 1.

Will they get stunned by the end of this? Seems like it’d be pretty close. Any stun piled on before the beginning of this sequence would for sure put em there.

If they don’t reversal in the middle of that, Makoto deserves dizzy for all that shit. :wink:

Well I was just wondering how deep into scaling the stun would come is all. If it’s too deep it might not be worth taking that many reversal risks…though it would be quite sexy.

I’ll have to experiment some more but I couldn’t get TC>M Hayate to work. And i haven’t tried TC>EX Hayate yet. I’ll report back when I do

@farplaner:
Shiro said it’s backthrow -> jump whiff attack -> **f+**MP, not stMP :slight_smile:
So yes, it becomes last-frame meaty.
Now, backthrow has 56F knockdown:
dash (16) -> jump attack (44) = 60F => 4F safejump
jump attack (44) -> f+MP (12) = 56F => perfect meaty

oooooh, I misinterpreted what that arrow before the MP means, lol

fantastic, so i don’t have to use dash forward mp anymore…

So I was watching ssf4 makoto videos on the youtube when I came across this comment:

“I main her too and shes strong. Her st. strong trades with some shoryukens. Her damage and stun dont need to be mentioned, and shes so explosive. Shes no autopilot character like yun or yang, and she cant get away with random stuff like fei or viper, they are defenetly easier to play but i see her as 7th place overall (since shes unforgiving and you always have to be focused) andin case of the properties of her moves, dmg and vitality shes probably 5th place or better”

and this “lol just like zangief. I can see why they are nerfing her. Maybe she’ll be a valid character to play again.”

My question is why do people say shes too strong? She really isn’t she s perfect in AE and in 2012 they’re giving her some slight damage nerfs but it isn’t ttoo bad at all. Why do people cry about one of the hardest characters to play?

Anything that people lose to is OP by default. Some people will complain about Dan kick pressure being OP for God’s sake.

Dan kicks really are OP :expressionless:

Blockakusa, her trillion ways to lead into a highly unscaled U1, her 300~ damage for landing a Focus Attack or Fukiage for 1 meter, and her high-priority pokes can easily be seen as OP. I can’t really blame them, her effective tools are really, really good, and being on the receiving end of the ridiculously extensive Tsurugi/Karakusa/Oroshi trickery into U1 can make you groan.

I do think she’s perfect in AE, though, except for the ridiculous match-ups she has against the top tier. The only top character I feel she does well against is C. Viper.

People in general just bitch a lot about characters that make you guess. Especially when a wrong guess leads to a ton of damage.

Also, bitching about AE Makoto is a good way to tell if someone’s ever played 3S.

with the top tier having been nerfed, Makoto’s matchups are going to get much better. The one I’m not looking forward to is getting in on Honda again with that stupid LP headbutt. I used to dread that matchup in super, so lame.

Besides that, I kinda feel like they’ve balanced the game to Makoto’s play style.

Interesting, I thought that a bunch of her matchups got a little tougher overall outside of the twinks and Fei. Not any major major shift, just slight tweaks to other characters damage, some move utility etc.

i really hate the -20 damage on her fuki fuki tsurigi anti air…gonna have to burn that ex meter now to get that extra damage back, DAMIT!!!
