Maki Videos
looking for some maki match videos. was told to look for some buktooth maki, but other people’s maki would be ok too.
Try looking on the GFB hub (the new one) for “Iyo”. I saw a clip of Buktooth playing Maki on XBox Live. It’s was fun, but it’s only one match. If there’s more out there I’d like to see it. Let me know if you come across any.
There’s also this other Japanese player that plays Maki as well as Rugal. His name is Siba, but I refer to him as not-Iyo, on the count that he’s not as good. 
I have a vid of someone playing A-Maki. I have the vid somewhere but it’s in the pile of ‘random japanese matches’. :rolleyes:

sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t. i think they say they’re having dns problems. like it was working before when i posted, but now i try and i get “The page cannot be displayed”, but then i just messed with the hosts file and it shows.
add the following in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file and save.

Yo, that’s tight. The guy did his research before playing against Iyo and knew exactly how to JD that weird Dhalsim anti-air super. Thanks for all the links, yyy. I wouldn’t of known about these matches otherwise.

But about the match… goddamn, I’ve never seen so much use of the spinkick move in one match. That’s crazy. I guess it’s an ok thing to do if you can’t get punished badly for it.
Things I didn’t like:
Super jumping across the screen with no followup if you happen to connect
Not using your meter
Lotsa sliding, even though you spaced it very well
KKK’ing things you could have counterhit to super
command run back into jump forward, I don’t see that ever being a good thing unless it’s a crossup after punch throw (I am guilty of something similar but I use the wall jump for a better angle)
That super at the end, omg, how lucky were YOU? I’m sorry to say you didn’t deserve that win

How much damage the spinkicks that actually landed did… crazy
hitting Sakura’s divekick with s.mk… sweet
maki punch as a poke, which seems like a good thing, and yet I never do it

i have no hard feelings with the guy, i play and chat with him other time. if someone drops the winner doesnt get the xbl points, the loser doesn’t lose points.
i thought i was dead when the cc started, so i just kept mashing qcf+k not thinking it would even work.

I decided to cut three parts from matches and glue them together. Please forgive the crappy K-Maki.
nice pokes. haven’t seen **c.lk c.mp ** being used like that much. i’ve just been doing c.lp x 2 lk to stuff. also liked s.lk c.mp qcf p and what you do after c.hp aa. i usually follow c.hp aa’s with qcf k, hk.
you may already know this, but for those wall dive kicks, i found if you sometimes wait a bit and do qcb hk as you’re falling, people used to blocking the high qcb hk wall dives might think you’re not going to do it and they move forward.
Do you mean the divekick on knockdown as a crossup or when I’m cornered?
I don’t do the s.lk into throw/c.mp that much anymore, but it’s a fun mixup. IMO s.lk is better after knockdowns since it’s 6 frames worth of meaty. However, c.lk has better frames and leaves less time for them to stick something in between. If you actually manage to land the s.lk meaty than the latter becomes a moot point.

I want to do a short maki write-up of stuff I like to do.
when you’re cornered or just next to the wall.
doing the hk divekick as you come down from a jump seems to work better for me once they start to block divekicks from higher up on the wall. around the end of parabola instead of the top.

just a note. don’t do qcf+p when they are in the corner. if they block, they can punish REALLy hard with super.
i think they CAN punish it mid screen, but it’s harder, and people aren’t used to the recoil that maki has so they underestimate her. however in corner. however in the corner, they have plenty of time.
EDIT: whoa wtf? who was playing K-maki? at first i thought that was a clip from me cuz i used to play that team. but i dont’ recall getting recorded while i was playing that team. heh.
oh yeah, that reminds me of when someone did the guile sonicboom super on the recovery of the genko.
