Well that’s like Storm 101, I got pass that and I’m doing that now, but do I go from here?
Well you kinda asked for storm101 didn’t you? Like I said don’t worry bout the combos, thats not what storms about. Focus more on your zoning, spacing, footsies and pretty much control of all her tools. Learn to open your opponent up consistently and keeping yourself from getting opened up. You can have a 100 percent combo, but it won’t mean shit if you never land it.
hahahaha GAWD. LYKE! im stealing all that shit. :badboy: unfortunately, this technically isn’t new.
there’s a thread in the mvc3 forums about this with wolverine from last week IIRC. i believe the OP was mariodood (?). keep in mind, your opponent can call their assist while rolling, so they can sandwich you inbetween their point and assist.
still bananas though. good job. nominated for article.
Niggas didn’t know this?
i knew about the wavedash trick, but i’ve never seen those combos b4
Well, I guess I did, but I guess I’m really asking for more intermediate combos. I am focusing on spacing and zoning, but I get a surprisingly high amount of openings, and I feel like I’m not exploiting them enough by only doing a simple very basic launcher combo. I see some professionals and semi pros performing more complicated combos, I guess, I’m asking what’s her standard intermediate combo?
Well storm isn’t really a damage machine, her most damaging practical combos all round out at about 500k, but heres a video of some more advanced combos there should be tons of loop variants in the suggestions section. Knock yourself out bro.
Excellent. Anything similar to this, but with inputs stated. What BnB do you use for Storm?
It seems like none of those jump loop combos do as much as really basic Instant Air Lighting Attack combos.
I get like 620K on basic-ass combos, while all this fancy shit is hardly cracking 500K. It builds meter better, so that’s something… but for a character that struggles for damage like Storm, I don’t see when I would choose meter over damage.
I use cr.:l::h::s: sjc :h::s: :qcb::atk::atk: at the moment but I haven’t really put a lot of time into my storm, chris is really my main. Im currently working on this combo though cr:m:cr:h: jc:uf j:m:j:m:j:h: land :h:cr:h: jc:uf: j:h: ad:f: j:h: land :h:cr:h::s: ^ j:m:j:h:j:s: land Hyper
Interesting, what combo(s) specifically are you using to net that damage?
@Mr.Nannie: How exactly were you validating Hailstorm’s one-frame start-up on DHC? Through my experience, I have not been able to prove that it has a one-frame start-up. I tried doing a basic ground magic series into DHC Hailstorm and couldn’t get it to combo. The amount of frame advantage after performing, say, a c.L-s.M-s.H combo should be plenty to then perform Hailstorm DHC… if it had a one-frame start-up.
@jak d ripr: Thanks for commenting. I think I answered your question on YouTube. =]
@andyocr: Thanks! This is what I was talking about in the chat yesterday, by the way. I won’t be at WNF this week, but I’ll see you at the ranbat or charity event? =]
@REALPLAYER: I read your comment in the video - thanks! I just put together random combos pulled from the strategy guide and match videos. You make a great point about assist calling while grounded (I glanced the SRK MvC3 guide again and you’re correct) - but then again, I can call assists, too.
@HAV: Yeah, I didn’t know about the interplay between wavedashing and ground recovery until randomly fooling around in training mode just now. I scoured through most of the forum (though apparently not thoroughly enough) and didn’t see it documented. I figure it may have been some oversight on my part, but I thought I’d throw it out there any way.
@Honor Basquiat: Just do any combo involving instant air Lightning Attack in place of fancy loops and you should net 560-620K damage. For example, a combo like…
Jump-in S, land, s.M, c.H, instant air Lightning Attack pointing down-forward, land, s.M, c.H, instant air Lightning Attack pointing down-form, s.M, S, sj. M, sj.H, Lightning Attack x 3 XX Lightning Storm.
Like everyone else has stated, any combo beyond her bread-and-butter are performed for positional advantage, meter building or for show, and even some of these points are not fully validated in most cases. Stick to what’s tried and true for now - they’re optimal as is in terms of damage.
Well its certainly alot faster than Hailstorm performed by itself.
As a part of a THC she rises up into position during the pause screen, after the flash.
Some nice storm gameplay on the 8wayrun stream if u have the time 8WayRun.Com on Justin.tv although ill just update the video thread with the matches anyway.
as far as damage goes for storm, i think the best thing to do is use her with a character that can DHC trick from her. she really needs it considering her health and comparatively low damage output with the rest of the cast. i really don’t think it makes any sense to use a team of Storm/other favorite character/anchor_assist unless slot 2 is already a DHC trick character.
lol it didn’t take me long to pick up mvc3 storm. coming from mvc2, all she has are a couple of different combos and a few new properties on moves. super easy.
here’s a little combo…lots of fierces, not practical
j.:h:, s.:h:, c.:l:, c., c.:h:, :s:, sj.:h:, flight, fl.:l:, [fl.:h: xx airdash :h:]x3, fl.:s:, Elemental Rage (545K IIRC)
the s.C, c.A link is a 2 frame link, so not that hard.
IMO we are starting to get a decent number of BNB combos for Storm posted up.
We have Beginner and Intermediate combos as well as Expert loop combos.
We also have the best DHC glitch starting Char in the game (I say this with a far amount of confidence);
Ppl have posted up a number of these DHC glitch combos, many of which produce 1,000k damage.
I just feel like its time for us to have a well organized combo thread, with notation and data on damage and meter.
So what do you say SunfireGamer, are you up to it?
you know she can call assist when floating even after super jump. making her kinda retarded with like tron assist.
Props to andy ocr for making it to top 3 with storm, but that his combo just doesn’t seem very reliable.
i love how assists can’t avoid multiple hailstorms
