Noel Brown has a super frustrating defensive Vega…he would win matches one c lp at the time…also good neutral and defense…he doesn’t maximize damge when he does get in…sure he is down for the count now but you can still find his matches from earlier this year
I’m taking a break from Guilty Gear and coming back to SF for Vega. Loved your breakdown video @af0. Just what I needed to get motivated again.
If anyone saw the recent Capcom Pro Talk, they discuss that Nemo is the best Vega in the world right now. Yes, better than Flash Metroid IMO, but he’s still amazing.
Nemo plays with claw off 80% of the time and uses clever frame traps to make claw worth it. By switching on the fly he messes with people’s heads and they can’t keep up with his pace. If we could learn to adapt this style, it would be fantastic.
Stuff like s.HP clawless (stance change is very strong). s.MP clawless is also a fantastic button for footsies and extremely underrated.
I’ve no doubt that Nemo is definitely the best Vega to watch at present. I wasn’t sure before because people were still unfamiliar with Vega. But his recent performance definitely showed what he’s really about.
As for Flash, he himself admitted he was doing things like dashing forward into stuff - and not getting punished for it. Justin showed him that you can’t do that kinda stuff in the grand final and get away with it, and beat him quite convincingly actually…*too *convincingly even. I hope Flash adopts a more clawless playstyle in the future because this game is about momentum and if you’re not Guile/Chun, you can only get so far by laming it out.
I’m glad you liked the vid. For anyone who disagrees with it - I really advise them to just try clawless only for a couple of days. You’ll see how much more meaty pressure Vega gets -and it’s actually scary.
Not to mention how powerful standing medium punch is clawless as a footsie tool. It has deceptively good range, and cancels into target combo and a million damage.
You dash in once right after conecting it and st HP right after and you’ll beat wake up jab on quick rise…if the opponent backrolls you can still time a meaty fordward HP (you have to delay it a tiny bit or it will miss )
idk man, i might be too slow at this game but i feel like if they quick rise mashing after you dash twice, the only Vega normals that will beat the quick buttons are vega 4-5 frames normals. I have been counterhit a lot of times for using s.MK, it might just be me though. But on training mode i never ever get beaten by quick rise mashing if i use cr.LK.
You’re not doing it instantly. Instant dashing into instant st.mk or cr.MK, both will CH your opponent. Any move beyond 7 frames is too slow however, such as st.MP with claw on and st.HP too. This is with regards to normal quick rise.
For the back quick rise you can use instant st.HP and that’s fast enough too. Otherwise you have to delay your medium kicks to hit them when they rise.
I’ve been trying to react to the quick rise animations to act accordingly…but I dunno if it’s possible with the slow buttons. I think it’s much easier to react with st.LK or cr.MP cos even if you’re too slow, you can still hit them before they hit you. Cr.MK is 7 frames so it doesn’t leave much room for mistiming it.
Well always remember EX GID> dash> st.lk is meaty. Combos to st.mp on CH.
Also, you can use the Claw Swipe from EX. FBA instead of Izuna. When you land do light Crimson terror to corpse hop them at the last second. You’ll end up right next to them on the other side as they get up. I use cr.mk, st.mk, and clawless cr.mp. Counterhits all day.
Hey everyone, i think that i finally have the answer for those frustrating anti-air jabs during certain situations. 100 hours in windows movie maker, and 500 points were lost making this video. Enjoy:
