There will be a qualifiers Thursday 7pm for wild card spot ($25 entry fee on site), winner of that competes in the 5 v 5 round robin (1 game 2/3 rounds), and winner of the round robin become a member of Canada 1 or has a choice to be Captain of Team Canada 2. If winner decides to be on Canada 1 then by default 2nd place winner will be Captain of Canada 2. If winner of the round robin decides to be on Captain of Canada 2, then 2nd place winner will be on Canada 1. I would like to recommend to Captain 2 to keep everyone that played on round robin to be on his team, and 2nd place of the qualifiers. But it is up to him to make the strongest team so talk to your members.
i’m hoping snafoo wins all this business with the wildcard qualifiers
but keep in mind SA204 will be there, and maybe some other guys from MTL? Heero maybe? IDK
Either way, i hope the winner joins the Canada 1 team. Let’s make the strongest possible team we can have. And if Snafoo wins it’s basically same as last year, - Riceta + Lap, That’s our best shot at winning if you ask me
I was actually thinking the same thing. It would be a shame if he wasn’t on the first team. The amount of strong players in mtl is too strong not to have a few guys on team 1. I like ShaneAkuma over Heero tho.
yeah i hope Snafoo makes it on the team but it could be a tough battle if he has to fight Akuma (ShinAkuma204)
it wont be so bad if Snafoo faces Clim since thats in Dhalsim’s favour. but if Snafoo has to face ShadowSingh4D then that could be problematic as well for Snafoo.
Hey Lap Chi is the Japanese SF team also competing in the 5v5 Marvel? I know that Fuudo, Mago and Kazunoko play the game casually enough to maybe watch them compete. Also if you take into account of WGC, Fuudo and Mago played with Tokido in the team tournament when they virtually knew little about the game and they still managed to get into like the semi-finals (or something like that). They also entered the bigger Marvel team game and seemed to be having fun.
Also even if that doesn’t work out maybe some type of world team is possible(?) as Xian is going and last time I checked it he was one of the best Marvel player in Singapore.
This week both Fuudo and Kazu were playing Marvel and they were talking about Canada Cup while playing (but what they were saying I do not know).
Absolutely not, he deserves to be on one of the teams. I think no matter how it goes down he will end up on one of the teams unless somebody comes out of nowhere to win the round robin who isn’t interested in picking the other round robin players which is unlikely.
From the players in the round robin - Myself, thetimelyhoward, clim and Shadow - Graeme and I have agreed to pick the other round robin players because to be honest they are likely the best players not already on team Canada.
According to Lap he’s not sure if Snafoo is coming for sure. I will gladly give up my spot on the round robin if he comes down. Snafoo if you are reading this: come down to Canada Cup. If you do you can have my round robin wildcard spot no questions asked.
Pardon me, but I don’t totally understand why this wildcard tournament is happening in the first place. We already have four people who have proven themselves by winning tournaments around the country-- why not just have us be a team and call it a day? The last-chance tournament on the Thursday can still happen, with first place joining team 1 and second place joining team 2. I see no reason to make this more complicated than it needs to be.
I also think it’s silly that people are expected to participate in a tournament so that they might win the chance to participate in a different tournament (a single-game round robin, no less).
Problem is that some people didn’t win their spots it was handed down.
Just because u r best in your city doesn’t mean you are top 10 in Canada.
The wildcard qualifiers is just giving people one last chance that’s all. Guys like Riceeta couldn’t get a spot b/c I was already on the team. Sorry this is how we have to do it. If you are good enough it will show.
