[MAJOR] CANADA CUP 2012 | Oct 26-28 | Calgary AB | International 5-on-5 $5,000 Pot

Just want to make sure I’m reading it right (I know it’s tentative too)…

Friday:

10:00am – 4:00pm
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 Pools. Each set of Pools is scheduled to run for 2 hours

^^So this will run all the way through to Top 8, i.e. 4 pools with one winner and one loser escaping each (or something that is effectively the same thing)?

Not picky, just wondering

Yep, that’s what it means. We run a tight ship and we will Mae it so!

Canada cup folks, thanks for putting up the schedule. Not telling u guys how to do your job or anything; and I know the schedule is tentative. But a suggestion as streaming goes and viewership. You should think about switching the timeslots on SATURDAY, SF4 with DOA5, also switching MVC3 with SFXT. No disrespect to DOA5 and SFXT, but SF4 and MVC3 garners way more fans/viewers, having SF4 so early, ppl will miss on it for sure as stream monsters are not early birds. SF4 seems to be the main game of this tourney and will be the game to watch especially with the high number of international players coming.

had

stream A schedule for Saturday - main Canada Cup twitch page

AE2012 - 10am-1pm
UMvC3 - 1:30pm-4pm
International 5v5 - 4:30pm and after

stream B
KoFXIII - 10am-1pm
DOA5 - 1-3pm
SFxT - 3-5pm
Persona - 5-7pm
TTT2 - 7-9pm
MK9 - 9-11pm

hmm

I’ll be there so makes no difference to me, and I see what you’re saying with the time dilemmas and two streams.

AE2012 from 1-3 pm stream A, MVC 3-5:30 stream A. International 5:30 - 11 stream A.

And keep stream B the same as it is.

I’m just looking at it from a stream viewer’s POV; especially if you are charging for premium viewership this maybe more beneficial.

Just my two cents. I can’t wait to be there.

had

lol i edited my post and can’t even remember what I said before

early SF4 sucks but the 5v5 is the main attraction so it’s what everything else has to work around
my 2 cents would be to make the archive available for the SF4 stream as soon as its done so people can tune into that while Marvel is on

Hey tmnt u use Abel right?

had

once upon a time I did … I haven’t played SF seriously since last Canada Cup

I brush up every now and then but 2012 is not my style. too slow and half the matchups just aren’t any fun to play at all. I play marvel now instead but good god i suck at it still

Remember everyone:

Pre-Reg ends on October 22nd @ 6:00pm MST (-7:00)
We aren’t adding games at the door, we aren’t accepting player registration at the door. If you want to play you guys must pre-reg.

The biggest problem with organizing the stream unfortunately is the 5 on 5 and our hard cut off time on Sunday. The sheer amount of hours that we require to get all the matches done and streamed is huge seeing as just one of the 5 on 5 matches can easily go to an hour. Sure there can also be a blow out and it’s done in 15 mins. But we have to err on the side of caution and leave room for things to run into over time. Last year some amazing matches happened off stream and we’re trying to avoid that at all costs.

Just putting emphasis on it.

you’re like my hidden missiles assist Greg.

im the dark phoenix behind your missile assists

X FACTOR!

**PRE-REG ENDS ON OCTOBER 22ND AT 6PM MST (-7:00) IF YOU WANT TO PLAY YOU GUYS MUST PRE-REG.

hey guys
when do i have to register by to play?

October 23rd

Please consider picking a better song for a possible next trailer! That song in the last one was horrible! Go back to something cool like the awesome invaders must die trailer! Something that makes the blood pump!
And at parts the music is overly there, i can barely make out what Ryan Hart is saying at normal volume
Oh and i also see my vid didnt make the trailer, was there something wrong with it? Am i too ugly? haha

Gangnam Style for Team Korea; come on, you know you wanna

Any news on any new teams?

While SBA was going on and looking through the Twitch list, I found that Dom Rep was having their own tournament and picked up some info.

Quick Analysis:

Their 5th guy was an Abel that can’t make it because he’s in the military and couldn’t get off or something. That was Braulio. Their replacement is EricKOf and he plays Juri. Pretty decent Juri. To compare him, all I can say for now is he was a better Juri then the one @ the SBA stream that almost eliminated Chris G.

Their Akuma player is no joke. I may even dare and go as far as to say he’s in the running of best Akuma outside of Japan and Korea that I’ve seen (and I’ve seen a lot). As the UK guys would word it, he has a very dry style and though I’ve seen him miss some combos before (due to being a pad player I would speculate) he was clean today. He said he really wants to face Infiltration and that’s one of his main goals at Canada Cup. The guy has history with PR Balrog as it seems he was the first to beat Balrog in the original SF4 when Balrog went to their country (at the time he used Ryu). The guy seems like some sort of F.Champ villian due to early videos which he claims he was talking a lot of trash to hype up the scene as the scene was very small in the country. The guy seem very respectable though when speaking towards other teams in Canada Cup. He looks older too. I think they said he’s a husband and a father.

Composition may be a little suspect as a team when you look at characters. They have no Seth. They have no Cammy. They do have an Akuma and Fei Long but also a Guy and Juri with Ryu in the middle. Skill wise I think they’re on the top half of the teams.

Potential match up for Team Canada:
Canada vs DR: I would put DR as favorites here. Though Chi-Rithy is the best player on the team, Lap Chi would be the MVP here if he can avoid their Fei Long as I saw this team in particular seems to be weak against Blanka. Though their Akuma is their best player, their Fei Long seems to be the backbone in many of their match ups.

(By the way their fei long is the guy that eliminated Wong and Gamerbee in Evo2K11)

So though this team isn’t confirmed hope they really do get confirmed! All of them since their team will be drastically weaker if they don’t all get their Visas. They already took a loss with their 5th best (Abel) but I think their Juri fits the team’s niche enough and seems to be skilled enough to pick up some of the pieces.

I wonder about China! Will there be a coalition of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong? That sounds deadly! I still think it would be neat if it’s just a pure mainland Chinese team as they have enough talented players there from the most recent videos I saw of their SBO qualifiers!

Any chance of a Team Canada #2? I mean I don’t think anyone would really fault Canada for having two teams as they are the host country. In terms of quality I can see how some may question it a lot more than 2 Japanese or 2 USA teams. I know AU is a potential team but I have a hard time erasing the memory of the horrible OCV they suffered in the hands of Negromat (Guy) in the AU vs. America (Wednesday Night Fight players). But maybe after Shadowloo Showdown they’ve been practicing harder! Team Brasil seems like a bigger threat than AU but again Tokido and Gamerbee had their way with them recently. At least with Team Canada and Team Dom. Rep. they faced off against big names and have had success so you can see the potential of the win! Still really hope France can make it out along with BR, AU, Switzerland, Singapore, China, another Japanese among others.

Happiness, I dig you
