Hahaha, not bad

Sup sirs

Starting today, i’ma be posting new screenshots on sonichurricane.com every Thursday. I’ve updated the first post with the internet-appropriate number of exclamantion marks.

Just watched the Ryu combo video in the second-most recent Sonic Hurricane post. That is insane. People who are in desperate need of a lesson in clever editing need to check it out.

And is the last piece of music from SF2 V?

Wow, really? You’d never seen it before? It was kind of everywhere for not one, not two, but THREE whole minutes. I figured everyone would be sick of it by now.

Yeah, the second track is from SF2V. I liked that series a lot, even though it definitely went downhill towards the end.

I only got about halfway through V, myself. It seemed cool, but for one reason or another (monetary, I think), I didn’t stick with it. I guess there was nowhere for it to go, other than the “Ryu and Ken defeat Bison again” stuff that’s been told a dozen times.

That’s not even the problem. In the first three episodes when it’s Ryu and Ken fighting Guile, they never recycle any footage. By the time they get to the final match between Ryu/Ken and Bison, they’re recycling scenes like crazy!

Chun gets possessed by some mind control chip so she’s outside the base fighting Guile. She lands the same combo on him AT LEAST eight times. Sometimes they mix it up by flipping it horizontally, but if you pay close attention (aka don’t close your eyes), you’ll notice it’s the same damn footage. And it’s always followed by Guile going “omg she’s too strong what am i gonna do” then back to Ryu/Ken staring down Bison. I seriously sat through three episodes waiting for Guile to smack her upside the head. Does it happen? Nope. That shit drags on until Ryu and Ken defeat Bison, her little chip explodes, she faints, and Guile swoops in to tell her it’ll be alright. Scrubfest.

If you crop out all the garbage, you can make an awesome five minute montage of combat scenes from SF2V. Really high quality stuff. But it’s painful trying to watch the actual episodes beyond the halfway mark. It’s like they all decided to go out and celebrate when they completed the first Bison episode and spent their whole production budget on coke and hookers. When they woke up it was five weeks later and their two best animators were in jail. So the interns had to save the day!

haha all of that about Street Fighter II V is oh so true. The last couple episodes also consists of Ken running around yelling for Ryu and Chun the whole time. Also, did you notice that every time they show Nash and Guile on that boat before they invade the base the spelling on his hat changes? It goes from say FHSING to FIHING to FISHNG or something like that, I don’t think fishing it actually spelled correctly. anyways…here is my contribution:

Leona sure knows where to hit the guys.

Huge post for just two pics!

Yay, thanks for continuing this Maj. I’ve actually got a couple of ideas I wanna try out for this thread.
Streetfighter V… oh the memories. I still have a couple of episodes on VHS. Bought, because SFV was never aired in Holland. My mom was pissed because I spent so much money on them.
They were alright though. Except for the part were Ken has to fight a bull. For some reason the bull is already bleeding from the mouth when he’s charging Ken. Guess no-one told the colour guys it was supposed to be foam. And his runcycle got re-used about 4708484586 times, so it looked like he was running for a long time, while getting nowhere.
Ryu charging up the Hadoken looked pretty cool, and a nice idea that Dhalsim was sort of his spiritual mentor.
Even though they didn’t have proper budget for it, I liked the more artistic ideas too, like Chun Li being in a hypnotic state and seeing rose petals fly at her, then when they hit her face it turns out it’s Ken’s blood(Fight with Claw)

Anyway, here’s two of mine:(sorry for the bad image quality, I’m still messing around with the settings on my other computer)

Chun Li climbing a box, while another Chun is climbing her. The Chun on the right is at the end of her downforward roundhouse, while the Chun on the left is starting up her Spinning Bird Kick. When I first noticed that frame, I thought they would be identical, but turns out they’re not. The Chun on the left is even smaller!

Spiral Claw! Or Sky High Arrow. Cammy’s starting to recover from her Spiral Arrow, while Claw flies over her with his Sky High Claw. These moves completely miss each other when done at the right time, from full screen. Originally, I wanted Cammy to still be in her active pose, but they were further away from each other. Timing it differently would mean she’d hit Claw. In the end, I actually like it better like this, because of her one leg sticking out, it makes the poses more similar.

Arright fine, I was gonna clean up some of my earlier screenshots by redoing them with the HUD off, but I got lazy. So here’s some fun stuff with Invisible Opponent/Invisible Self challenges, and messing with the camera during Ultras in SFIV, PC. Gonna post it with title then methodology as though it’s real art.

Only one I’ll post with HUD:

Zangief Pantomimes a Wild Night

(Gief throwing an invisible E. Honda)

Blanka: Confused as You Are

(Blanka about to get the last part of UAB from invisible Gief, Snowy Rail Yard stage. Watercolor aftertouch.)

A Shaky First Levitation

(Invisible E. Honda doing Neutral/Forward throw on Chun-Li. Posterization aftertouch.)

PopeyE. Honda Shooting Milk out of His Head

(Invisible Gouken performing Shin Shoryuken on E. Honda. Posterization.)

“Oh, hey.”

(Abel doing Tornado Throw on somebody invisible. Posterization.)

Are the Sails All Right?

(Invisible Ken landing the first hit of his Ultra on Guile. Posterization.)

OH GAWD

(Invisible E. Honda finishing his Ultra on Zangief.)

JEAH

(Fei Long doing the first hit of his Ultra on someone invisible. Posterization.)

What

(Guile doing the twist animation from somebody. I forget which attack did this, there are many possibilities. Ink aftertouch.)

Goodbye

(I believe it’s Invisible Seth doing an SPD on Abel, in the Run-down Back Alley stage. Ink.)

The Thing

(Seth appearing from teleport for the drop in his SPD on someone invisible, in the Snowy Rail Yard stage.)

Squinting, Floating

(Guile getting back thrown by invisible Seth.)

Memories…

(Gross albino-crab colored Seth about to finish SPD’ing somebody.)

Gambling Hurts

(Seth finishing an SPD on someone invisible.)

Mr. Universe

(Seth starting an SPD on someone invisible. Can you tell I had fun with this move? I got three deep emotions of out of the final boss with it.)

My Car Shoots Guiles

(Seth finishing his Ultra on Guile in the Drive-in at Night stage.)

Abstract

(Here, you tell me what’s going on.)

Cheeseburgers!?

(Invisible Dan starting his Ultra on Abel.)

I Was Concentrating Here

(Gouken starts a Shin Shoryuken on a Dhalsim who is doing Taunt #4, I believe. I really liked this because it shows that the characters’ mouths and eyes expand even when they’re in a Personal Action. You can do some weird things with this idea.)

I Was Taunting Here

(M. Bison starting his Ultra on Dan, who was grinning slyly in his PA, but is now starting to widen his mouth and eyes in terror. It’s a weird mix, that pose and that face.)

Praying at the Dhalsim Shrine

(Sagat starting his Ultra on a Taunt #8 Dhalsim.)

I Don’t Wear Those

(Dhalsim’s Taunt #8 affects his hitbox like all Taunts/Personal Actions. Here, he’s dodging Rose’s Ultra.)

Nope

(Same as above, but dodging Fei Long’s EX Rekkaken.)

Are These…Birds?

(This was a hard one. Had to dizzy Dan, then jump over and start Guile’s Ultra. I’m not great with charge supers so this took a little while but I knew it would pay off.)

LOL

(There’s no good title for this last one. I wanted to know what Guile’s face looked like when he turned around for the final hit of his Ultra, and this is it.)

:u: awesome! would you mind if i made an av from one of these? (not sure which one atm they are all so good!)

No no, not at all, go right ahead.

Monster post. They’re all great!

The one with Guile twisting in the air is my favorite. +rep.

this thread is full of epic win

Ianskie: Nice. It’s good to see more Leona in here. Actually i was hoping we’d get more stuff from the SNK side and a couple people did express interest, but nothing ever came of it. I’d love to see more Samurai Shodown and Garou stuff.

Bob Sagat: I like that first one a lot. I bet if you looked up the Genesis/SNES versions, they totally would use the same sprite.

onReload: Waaay too good! That Dhalsim vs Fei Long one is perfect. Guile looking at birds is really funny too.

Thanks - at first I didn’t like the ones in the training room but for some reason training mode only lets you record there, which is true in MvC2 and other games. I don’t understand that, frankly. That one came out nicely though, because the lighting works with the yellow glow of the EX still a bit on Fei-Long. For some reason Dhalsim’s leg in both of those Taunt #8 shots looks really, really well rendered. I have no idea why. But yeah, both figures are in a bright-ass room, and also look very brightly lit, instead of having all that shadowy-ness that SF4 models do.

/end ramble

Also I figured you’d like the Guile shot; I first noticed that he bends into people’s crotches during one of the trailers for the game, and having him bend over Dan was at first for maximum Homo eroticism, but then I saw the birds. They even hatch, by the way. I have yet to get a good shot of that, though. Would have to dizzy someone and cancel it into a super so the camera gets close to the eggs.

…What a bizarre want.

Someone post screenshots of Sakura and Cammy both doing Zangiefs lariat or similar.

You mean with the moveswap thing going on? I don’t mess with that stuff, I like trying to use what’s already in the game.
