Maintaining or Gaining Weight in Japan

For those of you live in Japan, preferably the Tokyo region, what do you do and/or eat to maintain your weight? With all this walking and meals with small portions, I know I’m gonna slowly but surely lose some weight (which I do not want… I want to gain weight)

I am in Japan right now, starting off my first week of studying abroad at Aoyama. I will be here for a year. I am trying to get my diet routine in place, but I’m finding it kind of difficult. I don’t want to keep on eating out just to get what I want in a meal. I have been to a few markets that sell sushi for kind of cheap, which I do buy occasionally. I also bought some dried up squid, which is basically like the beef jerky out here.

At my dorm, I only have access to a toaster and microwave, which makes things a little harder than usual. It would be much more convenient to have my own mini-kitchen, but there is no way around that.

I figure I chose the wrong country to try to gain weight in, but it is what it is!

So, any suggestions? I want to fill up with lots of calories and protein. Carbs aren’t an issue in Japan…

Thanks a lot fellas

go to the GNC equivalent and buy some protein and use it supplement your normal diet.

chris king as in ddr chris king? this is alvin. if you don’t know who that is, i guess you’re not who i’m thinking of.

Watch how the sumo’s work it!

I understand your problem tho. China’s about the same as far as the walking and small portions go. I’m losing weight and am not even trying to…but that’s ok with me. I’m about 170lbs and I could go to lose a bit more I think

just eat yoshinoya everyday like we use to do chris hahah
