No it isn’t, because c.LP is neutral on block, and c.LP xx HHS is interruptable.
I’m not trying to argue that it’s inherently better, I’m just trying to explain why Akimo would bother to do it instead. Regardless, we’ve derailed the thread (Not that others haven’t), so I’m done discussing this here.
Regular/EX Headbutt as well as Ultra are punishable on block by Chun’s ultra. So his best wakeup tool becomes extremely risky. She can also cross him up fairly well (though she will lose out to auto-reverse wakeup headbutt), and she can zone him decently enough with Kikouken.
honda just messed up, a lot of those jump ins with hk can be jab headbutted or ex (but he often didn’t have meter) and honda can neutral jump fierce or jump back mp to rape jump happy blankas like that. the honda in that vid was trying to work the ground game too hard by staying grounded and trying to poke with st.hk or jab headbut when in range, he should have just played the anti jump game. vs blanka honda can benefit from pre-emptive neutral jump in anticipation of jump ins (+jump confirmed hp for big damage) and jump back mp for late crossups. This is a horrible matchup and honda should have won.
Is it? By what? DP? I’ve never seen it interrupted - and wouldn’t the c.LP xx HHS phase be interruptable regardless of whether you did a c.lk to start or not?
I get raped by Chun all the time but I’m not convinced it’s a bad matchup - she doesn’t have a lot of health and s.fierce is good against her.
If she doesn’t have meter you can slam your fat smelly sumo ass in her face on wakeup too.
Sagat and Sim are obvious. Chun has AA options against every single honda jump-in and her EX sbk beats splashes done late. Her s.hk is incredibly hard for honda to get around and her sweep trades with honda’s c.lk. Also, since honda’s fastest pokes are 4 and 5 framers, he cannot option select tech against her effectively meaning he gets easily thrown.
Ryu’s who dp correctly and understand fireball zoning with ample use of s.hk are hard to get in on, but once they’re in, it’s not so bad. Abel’s cross-up and j.mk are hard for honda to deal with and impossible to deal with without meter. With meter tho, honda is a wall that abel has shitfits getting in on. Guile is good against honda provided they don’t scrub out and attempt to jump in when they’re stuck in the corner. You can keep honda out forever with c.mk, s.fp, air throw, booms and c.hp. I’ve even seen akimo unable to bring 2 guiles below 75% cause they kept their cool.
And not to start shit, but most US chun’s are bad and unless you play an incredibly good one, you won’t understand why chun is difficult for honda. The anti-air mechanics and j.fp range on chun require a lot of practice to use correctly and I’ve never faced a really good chun except for ricky ortiz and a-rival who has now quit.
I am not surprised by the tier list. But I always thought that the early tier list putting Honda in the lower tiers were kind of wrong, glad I wasn’t wrong.
Honda’s only bad matchup is Sagat and you could debate Chun.
Sagat … it’s just terrible Knee and High Tiger shots make it impossible. 7-3 at best if they are both competant just bad.
Chun’s hard only cuz of st. RH, and Honda is fat … However, Honda has DMG! big DMG! meaning any mistake can be capitilized on very well. After throws her EX Tsubuki is very easy to safe jump (I do it every time) so if they go for that boom 50%+ life. I believe it’s 5/5 maybe 5.5-4.5 Chun but seriously Honda’s ability to capitalize makes low dmg characters that would destroy him imo go even. EX butt flop is a consistent anwser to her crossup and EX headbutt can be used if done non-meatied pretty easily or they aim for the front of your hit box. One error, or one bait and Chun really REALLY has a hard time winning.
Guile is a battle of patience but you can come out on the winning in and omg if you get a knockdown … if you only get a knockdown … I think it’s 5/5 after playing many good guiles. I just try to bait 1 move that will give me the knockdown and if i get it all i have to do is guess right once to win the match. People that jump on guile are the ones that think he’s hard to beat, st. RH is very good against him for footsies.
As cliche as this is, and as hard as it is to do in a real match, being patient and not jumping in with characters like Honda is the key to winning. But knowing what to do, and doing what you should are two different things.
Abel is too high imo and Dhalsim to low, but other than that i agree though i recently found out the dhalsim vs chun match is 6-4 chun or maybe worse. What can he do? Her fireball let’s her approach pretty easily and one well placed overhead on hit is a cr. LK> EX leg’s into knockdown.
Q: I only play chun on the side but is their a reason chun’s don’t normally go for links after her flipkick? cr. LK links consistantly or if closer cr. LP>st. FP. I find it easy, but i link all day with ryu : P.
Really Sagat is the only character i feel is better than the rest, and he’s only a 10% or so dmg nerf away from being fair. All others are winnable by skill, except for some of giefs matches XD.
