Mag, Storm and Sent

As I have stated before, I am very new to Marvel. I have decided to go with this team, as I like Mag and Storm a lot, and I love to zone, so sent was a natural pick.

My question is, how does this teams dynamics work? How can I maximize the effectiveness of the team? I read the team Duc article and I think it was written well. I was wondering if there was any such article for this team, or if anyone could be kind enough to point out some how to work with this team.

I was also wondering what the best on average team structure was, and what the best assit types were on average. I currently play the team kind of screwy. I just rush like a bitch with mag on point and build meter. When storm comes in I keep away and hail storm and go for chip damage and build meter. I randomly rush down with her and randomly go back to keep away. When I get sent in I just zone. I have no idea how to work with my team well… I more or less just “solo” it and attempt to use assits, but I suck with them.

Yes, I know I am a newbie, and yes I know my strat prolly sucks and shows how little I know, you don’t need to tell me that unless you want to

Erm…this team is for advanced users mostly, so I would start out mastering cable, sent, storm, then mag, then strider. You will eventually (or should) try to use everyone.

Well for this team, its a tough decission wheather to choose proj or variety for storm, proj or ground for sent, but i would recommend projectile for both, depending on the opponent your facing.

Going against storm with this team is a bit of a challenge, sine there is no good anti-air so your gonna have to use your storm or sentinel to catch up. Fly with sent and MAKE SURE you have unfly so you an block an oncoming lightning attack xx LS.

Against mag isnt that hard, due to rushing and sent assists could take care of that. Not that you don’t have to worry. You still need to watch out for ROM infinites and mighty air combos that chips ur ass.

Against strider, try to get storm out as soon possible before mag gets raped. Try counter while blocking xx HS or jump up and do a super XX HS. Stay up for as long as you can with storm and attach after the oroboros fades.

Against sentinel is a bit more of a challenge. A cheap sent might be a problem, but this are ways out of everything. A FLYING sentinel, well, is really annoying. First off you have no AA, making it hard to get out, second you’ll get raped in the corner by a good sent. Try getting out/pushblocking and supering his ass and DHC’s, especially with storm/sent.

Against cable, well, in my opinion is the hardest, especially if he had a mag in first. Watch out for AHVB’s and pay close attention and time your assists. You dont want to damage them much and lose a character. I’d say use mag and mixup tri jumps and air combos, a few resets should do the trick. If not fly up with storm and cheese.

In general, you dont want to lose mag on this team, if you miss a super, DHC into storm or sent, save mag for the end. If you want to lose anyone, it will be storm. AA’s will rape this team at close range, time your assist a bit before or after his, never at the same time. Again, this is an advanced team and it may be complicated to learn this team from the beginning. But this is aso a very effective team that overcomes most tournaments and tough opponents.

you’re doing good, you may want to use a anti air with 2 top tiers or try MSP, simply because your new, if you fight people who are new using a anti air will help you set up stuff easier, and psylocke anti air is good for that.

As long as you know the slide method with mags your okay.

as long as you know to run away, typhoon hail storm, and air combo lightning attack xxx lightning storm your okay with storm.

try to see how the game works and try out cable try out alot of people, but first see the basics.

mobility is a big part of the game as far as rush down is concerned.

i’d also suggest trying out doom anti air in some of your teams, he’s not that bad on point and is 2nd tier.

also try out cyclops and remember, lk, mk, hk, cyclone kick xxx sob

God, you do NOT want to lose Storm in this team. This team is NOT MSP. There is no random comeback potential with Mag/Sent as there is with Mag/Psy. Magneto’s job is to do as much damage as possible without burning up all the meter. He’s to leave at LEAST 2 bars after he DHCs/dies. Storm/Sent is the comeback duo of this team. Launch lk lk, LA XX LS DHC into HSF, launch into whatever can kill a point char with even minor damage on him.

If you’re new, I’d suggest using Mag/Storm/Cyke. It’s a good team to learn the game with.

Thanks for the replies. Anymore would be great.

I think I may learn with an anti air assist to start with, but I will be back to this team eventually, so any tips or strat would be great.

So for an anti air assist to start with… is cyke or psy better?

For beginners its better to use cyke, because it beats the majority of the assists in the game. Cyke eats up tron, psy, capcom (not sure, maybe even), doom, cable, sent, and cammy.

Psylocke is only good for doom and tron. it gets owned pretty bad by cyke and capcom.

Cyke’s assist can be ROMed off of, and is great because it has good range and fires an optic bullet at the end. Cyke is also a great fighting character for a 3rd person. Check out the cyke threads for more info

Psylocke’s assist on the other hand stuns the opponent in the air for longer. You can also do a c.lk, launch and the opponent cant roll out of it if you time it right. Cable’s AHVB and ROM infinite works well with this assist. It is perfect with storm and mag (team MSP).

Doom is a pretty good assist at a near distance that will beat almost anything while started. You just need to time it right. Just have patience and time it after the assist. Doom’s assist goes well with strider, mag, storm, and sent for some corner rapage.

Capcom is a good assist but needs to watch out for doom and cammy and cyke. Capcom best works on psylocke and sentinel & storm. You usually use sentinel/storm/cable with this assist.

Cammy is one of the best characters to be left with. She has a dash just as fast as mag’s (foward dash, not back :frowning: ). Her assist goes slightly diagonal and can own anything if timed right. She is used with mag, cable, and storm.

Jin, which is not used very much is a VERY powerful character as far as i see. I try it and it beats everything i know. I still dont know why they dont use it in tourneys. Weird, but IMO jin is good against mag, storm(runaways will be hard) and sent.

Tron is a very useful assist. With mag and storm, it can do some rapage. This is one of the most damaging assist when connected. Oh yeah, it also works well with sent. This assists owns capcom, and if timed right a few other assists.

In general, there is no dominant assist. If youare the underdog in the match, try to time it right. You can get a hit if you hit your assist slightly before or sometimes after. Be patient, and watch out while against cabl storm and sentinel. Here’s some more advice

Playing against cable: Limit your assists. If he has lots of bars, make sure you are close when or after you assist. Usually teleport/sj/ or tri jump near.

Playing against storm: Her hail moves will ice ur assist if not careful. She will most likely have lots of bars due to tri jumping and runaways. A sentinel beam or typhoon from storm will stop her. AHVB’s will work too. If you are currently with mag, just stay close. With strider keep teleporting her direction.

Playing against sent: Ok as i learned from one guy, you can escape rap by sent’s HSF. You pushblock on the laser or rocket punch, and then jump AFTER the first set of drones. With cable, you should AHVB afterwards, storm & mag sj then dash foward, sent counter with a HSF of his own.

Playing against mag:He has nothing that will seriously injure your assist. Watch out for sent DHC’s or Cable’s AA counter into a AHVB.

Thanks a lot, I will go with cyke for now. Any more info is welcome too =)

Can anyone confirm this?

I have gotten out of this before, i can record a video but not anytime soon.

pushblock after the first set of drones pass the timer, then hop out after second set of drones…i think you juss tweak this and you can ahvb sent after a hsf…its hard as fawk tho

pushblock the second set of drones and you can punish sentinel if he tries something stupid like c.fp, rp, hsf (if he continues it basically, u’ll beam him before the rp gets to you)

Mag/sent-a can come back really really well. I may have misunderstood what you meant D, but that shit is retarded good at dealing damage in a variety of situations.

Yea i can do it, u have to pushblock on the move right before the HSF, its really not that hard just takes a lil practice…of course when i fuck up the sj i tend to get hammered by the drones, dont have it down perfectly but its worth risking if ur getting chippped to death…just remeber to pushblock on the move immediately before the first set of drones

P.S u can hold back and super jump kinda it works but i try to just super jump straight out

I used to love this team, and I still play it, but for some reason I’m better with Team Row. (Mag/Cable/Sent-A) I like the fact of having a decent anti-air for Sent and Mag. You can also start Sent if Magneto has a bad matchup. This team is just so versatile, I love it.

Row is a nasty team…

and RowJoe… did i make you a storm wallpaper at one point? i had a blue thing going on, with sprites… i think…

but yeah, what dead4eye said is pretty much right. magneto is awesome here… but storm/sent is what does it.

one thing: using sent with projectile is good for easier damage + easier rom setups, but on drones, you give the team a decent rushdown blocking system, and more versatility with storm. either way is good. i prefer the latter of the two

Storm/rp is hella weak compared to mag/rp

Most people just have shitty magneto’s and don’t know when to block and wait for a chance to use rp assist safely.

I hate the spreading of scrubby info

No no no… I haven’t looked at this thread in a while… late replies I think.

Mag/Sent doesn’t have the random shit that Mag/Psy has. You can fuck up on a reset [if you have bad execution] and if you have Psy, she can save you in most cases. With Sent-A you have to be more careful and precise, it’s not as scrub friendly as M/P is.

As for Storm/RP, that isn’t as good as Mag/RP. Bomb assists for Storm are cyke/sent-y/ and psylocke. I just meant that the DHC from Storm to Sent is SO easy as a comeback move. It’s fuckin retarded on how much damage that DHC does, that’s why I said it was the comeback part of the team, moreso than Mag/RP.

Keep in mind all these comments are for the newer players that haven’t been playin hardcore yet… no disrespect to anyone. =]

Rowtron > MSS ? or MSS > Rowtron ?

depends on how good your sentinel is… i absolutely hate storm with rp but i play mss-a anyways

MSS is better, Row sucks balls. Once Magneto dies the team is fucked and comeon who really uses Cable now :lame: , i think we evolved pass that fucker. He gets rushdown for free hes not what he used to be…

nelson… mr. higher cable… i <3 you…
