I have purchased a tes+ 10-12 months ago. It was my second stick after the Hori Rap4 which I hated so much back then because the stick was very light and it had a Hayabusa joystick which I dint like. Anyways before a month or two I experienced a issue of the R2 button not working at all and btw I dint drop it or cause any major exterior damages to it only minor scratches. Since I live in Dubai where there is only one stick modder who is not really specialized in fixing broken sticks, he replaced the button for me and the button was working again. I felt relieved at that time thinking that I wont face anymore issues with this stick. However; after another month or so it happened again but this time it was even worse. I tried replacing the button again swapping connectors and nothing worked. I felt sorry for the hori that I dint do well, used to smash it when I play xD and dint know how much better it was than this new stick which was supposed to have better PCB… etc. The other issue was when I connnect it to a PS4 the stick works well in the PSN menu but once it gets to the game it does not work even after choosing a user. I must replug the stick 3-4 times in order for it to work. Okay so now im stuck with this TES+ which has connectivity issues and a broken R2 button.
I need suggestions from you guys telling me what is the best solution now. And sending the stick back to amazon is not an option because these sticks are all faulty and I amm not the only one facing this issue. I do not want to send it back and then after 9 months approx. of usage get the same connectivity issues again.
You could replace the PCB. Assuming ps4 compatibility is your primary concern, the easiest method would be a Brook ps4/ps3/PC board pre installed in the IST breakout board:
If you can solder, pad hacking a hori fighting commander 4 controller is also an option, but you’re going to have to do your homework first for that one.
Alternatively you can get a Brook UFB and patch it in with @“Jasen Hicks” TE-S+ EZ Mod that he’s just putting finishing touches on. That would allow you to essentially ditch the stock PCB without drastically rewiring the whole compartment, and I believe it retains full touchpad utility panel functionality.
Its actually done. Ready to go to production. Seems like the TES+ is definitely going to need this to come out since the PCBs are failing and are generally unreliable. You could go the cheaper route and use one of the “breakouts” but you will lose functionality with the stick. Specifically: Player LEDs, DP/LS/RS, and you will end up hacking the hell out of all of the wiring. The EZ MOD will make it simple and plug and play. While it’s not the “easiest” of the EZ MODs because it takes a little time taking the stick apart and putting it back together, it sure is easier than any other method.
As for FW updates. If you can check email, you can apply an update. Brook has been great about getting them out within a day of them needing it.
So do I also need to regualarly update the PCB if I did the EZ mod? BTW all I found was TE2+ I dint find the TES+ section so can you link it please?
Thanks alot for the replies guys I will check @“Jasen Hicks” Ez mod
The EZ Mod requires two separate parts: the EZ Mod pcb and a Brook UFB. So yes, you will still need to update the Brook firmware whenever Sony locks it out with a PS4 system update.
@gahrling oh ye I just realised it by doing some research and its as a guy posted above the only way to avoid updating is pad hacking which is extremely hard for me altho my friend has a ready Hori commander 4 pad that he does not use. . And @gahrling nice Display picture
How often do I need to update the brook PCB. I mean every week or two or is it like every 2 months or so
Impossible to say as the board only needs to be updated when Sony block it out. It could happen again at any time, or it might never happen again. That’s the risk you take.
If you want to install a padhack then hire a modder to do it for you.
Have you even asked your local community or gone looking for one? There are modders in every part of the world, not all of them will use this website. If all else fails you can commission a modder overseas though that will become expensive.
Dubai is a technologically & economically advanced city with a population of 2,714,719 people. Are you telling me that there is no one who can solder to a pcb?
Find the HFC Padhack PCB pinouts and bring that to your local electronics workshop, go to any local college that teaches electrical engineering and hire any student there or learn to fish via youtube or Arcade controller specific fishing at http://www.slagcoin.com
