MadCatz TE2+ Issue with JoyStick

Hi Guys,
I just got this stick and there is an issue with the joystick. The stick is constantly pointing in the up position. I can move left and right, but only to the left and right corners. I am currently in D-Pad mode.

I’ve tried unplugging the stick from the five pin connector and it remains in the up position.
There is a small piece missing from the round plug of the usb cable, but it doesn’t seem to be messing with any of the pins. How would I go about looking into this further? Would I be able to just replace the wire that connects the stick to the pcb or will I have to replace the entire pcb? Nothing else is wrong with the controller.

Thanks in advance, guys, I just got into Street Fighter and wanted to stop using the keyboard, but this has turned into a bummer

Had the same issue with my LP button today with a brand new TE2+, fixed In under a few mins.
Easy fix.

From my understanding the diodes only function to prevent ghosting (when multiple buttons are pressed at the same time). When I go to fix my TE2 I’ll just desolder the problem diode and if it happens to be used on one of the main buttons then I can just desolder a diode from R3 or the touchpad or something that ghosting wouldn’t be an issue with.

In the end I just scraped off the 4 joystick diodes with a flathead and that fixed the problem. Does anybody know if this does anything else regarding performance? I don’t really know how ghosting could affect performance, but it seems to be working fine atm. Thanks for the vid ykd!
