So, I just bought a madcatz TE2+ Fightstick and it wont work on PS4. The problem is that ps4 doesnt recognize it ( and so all the upper keys including PS button,Pad and share buttons wont work). but when i introduce it through legacy controller in Street fighter V it works fine ( except PS and other mentioned buttons). I know that i should first put the switch to Ps4 and then plug it and also i am sure that it isnt locked. when i tested it on Ps3 suddenly all of buttons work just fine even when the switch is in Ps4 mode. i came to conclusion that the stick has stuck in Ps3 mode and the switch cant change it to Ps4. As madcatz is out of business i wonder if anyone here can help me. If anyone can provide me at least with the schematic of the two PCB that were used in that fightstick ( i mean the main PCB and The one that has Ps,Ps3/PS4 switch and also touch pad on it ) that would very much be appreciated. thank you all guys.
Welcome to SRK Tech Talk.
Sorry to hear that the TE2+ that you just bought has issues. Sadly, the TE2+ has had its shared of QC issues.
How long ago did you purchase it? Did you purchase it new or used? If you bought it retail, does the retailer accept returns or exchanges?
If you can’t return or exchange then obviously the next step is to repair. I honestly can tell you if the issue is rooted at the top-panel PCB or at the main PCB without testing myself. The PS3/PS4 switch is a toggle switch, similar to that of the LS/DP/RS and Lock out switch on the older model TE’s. If that switch isn’t functioning it could be the solder points at the switch itself that are of issue or something else down the chain leading up to (and maybe including) the Main PCB. Have you first tried checking ALL cables at both ends of both boards and ensured tight connections?
thank you so much for noticing. It is new and i brought it with me to my country and here there is no where to be returned. so my only option is repair. I myself opened both top panel PCB and the main PCB. at first i noticed some the two last solder points of switch are kind of bit each other and i made them clearly separate using a cutter, all other solder points and wires are seem to be in their place and in good conditions, all other connections were tight, L3/R3 buttons as well as lock and LS/DP/RS work fine. the stick works fine with ps3 and all buttons are functional ( i noticed whether i put the switch in ps4 or ps3 mode it doesnt make any difference and the stick works fine in PS3.
Any help maybe?
Ok here’s what I would do if I were in your shoes right now.
- Buy an EZ MOD for Mad Catz TE2+ With Brook Universal Fight Board kit
- Install the kit using THIS VIDEO and THIS VIDEO for reference.
Thanks. but if the problem is in the top PCB panel what should i do then? this board is just used as a substitute for the main PCB, what about that top PCB?
Many of the functions of the top control panel route to the main PCB. The platform toggle switch becomes moot upon the Brook UFB install anyway.
@Gummo have you encountered the issue before? Would you suggest anything prior to installing a UFB?
Remove the diode labeled D24 on the top panel pcb.
Hello to you all!!
I’m new to this forum and I have excactly the same problem as monashva, and apparently this is not a very common issue since this is the only thread I’ve found concerning this problem. I would like to ask @monashva if the problem was solved by removing D24 diode. Did it?
@Gummo hey!! Could you please tell if there is no problem in removing diodes from the top PCB? I really don’t understand how the circuit would be complete (closed) once a diode is removed. I don’t mean to question any of you, but as my te2+ is now, at least is functional for my PS3 and PC. Before I try something, I would like to know first that by removing D24 y won’t spoil it to a 100%.
Regards.
From what Ive investigated, the diodes are whats causing the inputs to be held down. Some of them seem to be failing and causing a short to ground. Removing the diode will remove the short to ground and thus fixing the issue.
hello, i bought TE2 2nd hand (bought it very cheap) but it has problems. everything is fine except for the PS button. you need to lock the PS button so it’s not held down. i think it’s grounded. pls help
