Hi guys. Do you know if there’s a way to “hard reset” a fighting stick? For some reasons, every time I plug in my stick (PC or PS4), it defaults itself to “RS”. It appears that the button is broken… sometimes when I’m really lucky and mash the button (1/1000), I’m able to switch it back to LS, but as soon as I unplug the stick, it back to RS. Even if I lock the buttons, it just resets back to RS
Is there a way to “save the config” or completely hard reset the stick?
I checked the cables, everything seem okay. I unplugged/plugged the cables back, even tried other cables… the button itself seem defect (locking works perfectly though…).
I just don’t understand why the stick “boots” on **RS **by default… there must be a way to reset that somehow…?
That definitely would work, but it also should be left as the last option.
It’s like Reinstalling Windows for a missing DLL file, its a bit too extreme.
There are diodes on each input signal on both the main pcb and the top home panel pcb. For some reason one or more have seem to be/gone bad in the te2+ and tes+ models.
For your case the diode for the stick mode signal is the culprit. You will need to open up your stick and take out the top home panel pcb to get access to the diode. It will be a tiny black spec and should be near the button (I know they are near the input signal pins on the main pcb so I assume would still be the case for the top pcb). All you need to do is remove the diode.
I see people having the same overall issue with these two sticks all the time and post a new thread. I guess I’ll need to make a single thread for people to see so new ones dont pop up.
I think this is a very good idea. I was in the same situation as others (in my case one of the buttons was not working) and in the end I had to resort to changing the PCB, but I still would like to know what was wrong in mine. This is to learn and maybe next time something like this happens be able to fix it myself without bothering the forum.
Thanks for your input, I will check it out when I get back from work. Does it require any soldering or I just ‘break it’? Do I have to replace the piece?
First pic. Part labeled D22. Ideally you should use an solder iron to desolder it, but you can break it off with a small flat head screw driver. You do not need to replace anything.
I’m also assuming D6 is for home, D23 is for lock switch, and D24 is for system switch. Without me actually testing the traces to find the right diode for the stick mode D22 is my best guess. It won’t harm anything if D22 isn’t the right one and you could try removing D23 or D24 next if that was the case.
Sir, I woud like to THANK YOU! It’s back in business! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! You pretty much saved me $300+!
I followed your instructions: I desoldered the part labeled D22, plugged back the cables and bam! Working like before! I was a bit skeptic… but it really worked.
Makes me want to title the thread when I make it with a click bait title, lol.
Something like “learn this one weird trick that fixes your te2+! Madcatz hates him!”
from the top panel pcb of TE2+, what is the diode for PS button? it’s stuck and you need to lock it so you can use the stick normally. thanks in advance for the help if any
