Madcatz TE/SE PS3 pc incompatibility is not a hardware issue. They work on Linux

Round 2 TE will work with any xHCI interface, yes or no?

XHCI Also known as USB 3.0, I don’t have a definitive answer for you.

On paper the answer is yes, in practice I don’t know and I don’t have a Round 1 or Round 2 PS3 PCB to test.

My Round 1 doesn’t work on my laptops USB 3.0 ports.

Im sorry to hear that :frowning: I have an intel chipset based laptop and the only port my TE round 1 works with is the 1 3.0 port I have (running Windows 7). Can’t get the stick to work with emulated 360 xdrivers like I can with my duel shock controllers though so some games don’t recognize the input commands for the stick. I digress, this issue is part hardware and software. hcallahan you may have just opened up old wounds for some people who have been frustrated with this issue but happy you found a way that gets it working for you. Now get MAME! and play some classic arcade games in linux!

I’ve just received a PS3 TE-S and it’s recognized on both my win7 and linux laptops (with no nvidia parts) but I don’t see any input coming from it :frowning:
Did I miss something I have to do to make it work or am I doomed to buy some hardware workaround ?

You’re doomed to buy some hardware workaround.

It’s weird that nobody came up with a way to make it work after all that time but I guess not enough people are using TEs…

I’ll try this and tell if it works.

This would be a better option http://www.ebay.com/itm/Zero-delay-arcade-controller-USB-PS2-PS3-PC-for-arcade-MAME-Fighting-stick-/171490829856?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27eda66620

For a little bit more money and work, another option would be to get a MC Cthulhu, which is much more versatile.

I considered the zero delay arcade controler but if I can make it work without bypassing the PS3 chip it would be better for me.
If I can’t I’ll send it back and choose that option.
The MC Cthulhu seems nice but I don’t have any DIY stuff where I’m currently living and I don’t want to wait 4 months to come back home

The model I linked to supports ps3, you’ll need to connect a guide button though.

I received the adapter yesterday and after a bit of testing it’s still not working so I’ll return it and order what you suggested, let’s say it was for science

Buy a TE Kitty for your TE round 1, easier to install than MCC and best bang for buck on earth

The website says it’s only for the xbox360 version of the TE so I don’t see the point

Xbox 360 version of a stick is prefered for dual mods.
There many PCBs that support PS3 that you can add to a stick for a dual-mod, there isn’t many Xbox 360 PCBs to choose from.

Yes but I mean if you just want to make the stick work on a PC (the original subject) the only problem is the PS3 version.

But you are getting a Xbox 360 to PS3 adapter on eBay. What were telling you is avoid the adapter, its trash.
Either do a dual-mod or replace the PCB.

if you got a Incompatible PS3 TE, just replace the PCB (this solution goes double for laptops as you can’t install a PCI USB card on a laptop).

ehem. Sorry to / the / , but i picked up a (S)SFIV TE-S. Is this the first gen PCB? Pretty sure it is, I am running an Intel board with: recognition, no input. I am aware It’s a losing battle on all fronts. Just feels like with this Intel H61 Chipset, my machine should be one of the ones that fudges through. The board came standard with an ASmedia 3.0 eXtensible hc.

“SSFIV TE-S” " Is this the first gen PCB?"
Nope, not by long shot.

Also the Round 1 TE, the First Gen TE has two revisions of the PCB.

No indeed, but I’m on to something about my situation…
next up, Would a SSFIV TE-S register as “PC USB Wired Stick 8838” and also mimic the full range of functionality problems as these first gen pcb’s on my windows 8 + steam?
I got it from a place that refurbishes electronics spectacularly, for a fair $85. If it’s been anti-swapped i won’t even be upset, but will have closure and direction in this dark episode of seeking competitive input.
