MadCatZ PS3 TE FightStick: PC - Xp- vista- win7 32-64bit (read 1st post)

Just popping in because of a recent malfunction that occurred to my Round 1 PS3 TE as a result of this particular VIA chipset PCI card. I’m running Vista 32bit so I’m on a slightly antiquated system, but for the most part, the mentioned PCI card has some issues including not being immediately recognized by Windows (and subsequently installing the drivers) and causing my TE to malfunction. The thread I previously linked describes what happened in greater (albeit slightly vague) detail.

tl;dr look for model VT6212L model cards, not VT6202 cards.

Hi guys i have a amd chipset will the Madcatz TE fightstick work on my PC?
im running on Window 7 Home 64bits

Read 1 post confirming compatibility with the x58 chipset with the ICH10 USB controller. But would like a second opinion. I’m thinking of a sf4 round 2 TE stick (ps3), can anyone confirm if it’ll work?

UPDATE:

The USB 3.0 ExpressCard solved the issue he was having (nothing registered), he can now use the TE stick on his laptop without any problem

My friend just fell into this trap as well, bought a PS3 TE (r2) Stick thinking it would work on his PC (since he has an intel chipset).

Well it doesn’t.

Anyway, since he’s on a laptop he can’t easily just buy one of those PCI thingies.

[S]Sooo he’s considering just modding it, basically the thinking goes that you could just replace the MadCatz pcb with like a cthulhu or something else. How easy would that be to accomplish? Neither of us have any modding experience (I changed art/buttons/stick on mine but this is different). Could you just pop out the PCB, screw in the new one and re-connect and go on with your life, or is there more to it?[/S]

[S]Edit: So ANY usb 3.0 port/expresscard should work, since they support usb1.1 integrated and dont need to rely on the others ones, right?[/S]

Oh and by the way, will you still need joy2key or some software when it DOES register, or will ssf4ae find it?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone know if there has been a fix for the PC compatibility with PS3 sticks on non-Intel chipsets?

Again, I’m on a laptop so changing parts is pretty much out of the question.

Hello.
I have MB on AMD 770 chipset.

I can buy Round 2 or S version of MCZ PS3 stics.

I understand it right what i anyway need PCI USB card to get them work? :frowning:

UPD:
Ok, readed thread. Looks like pci usb is only way… argh

It does work on some motherboards but it’s a lucky dip as to which ones, there’s no definitive list. It won’t work on motherboards with Nvidia chipsets, certain USB ports/cards etc. I recently bought a system with an Asus P8P67 and my PS3 TE is mysteriously working off the USB 3 port.

Round 2 are still the same PCB correct so it might not work on all usb chipsets?.

Excuse me apologise but TE-s PS3 works on all windows machine since it uses the new pcb>?

I just wanna confirm that my PS3 SE stick works flawlessly in game with the advice given in this thread… I have not yet tried my TE, but I’m sure it’ll work too… It was incredibly easy to set up…

Really glad capcom brought this game to the PC… It looks MUCH better and plays much smoother than the PS3 version… I noticed the difference before even playing any matches… I’m also able to max the game out completely and still get an A rating with 140+fps.

i went to best buy and got a Dynex 2-port USB PCI-E card. Works flawlessly. It’s 20$ so it’s on the higher end of price, but, at least I can play my free copy from EVO now

I don’t know this for sure, but I think USB 3.0 solves the problem. I just tried my PS3 TE/SE and it works on anything with USB 3.0, for me at least. I just built a computer which has both USB 2.0 and 3.0. The PS3 TE/SE will not work on the USB 2.0 (despite my computer being Intel) but it works on the USB 3.0.

what can you do to remedy this problem for a laptop? my laptop recognizes the stick when i plug it in but when i try to map the inputs on ggpo it doesnt work

Try this:

I bought it for my laptop and it works with my SE. Make sure to plug it into the USB 3.0 slot or else it won’t work.

hrm…my laptop doesnt have a slot for this…actually i dont see any slots on my laptop at all…this is the one i just bought if it helps…

i was really hoping to use my te for ggpo on my new laptop…any other help or tips?

Anything that is USB 3.0 will allow you to use your stick since the new format is compatible with all the older versions. I can see that your laptop has no pcmcia slot so try a USB 3.0 hub that connects using usb cable instead. Its pricier but at least you don’t need a new stick. Here’s a pretty good oneas an example, but I’m sure you can find better deals out there. Good luck and hopefully I’ll see you on GGPO soon!

Thanks, man. I gave up on my TE stick ever working on my laptop and this fixed it. It works perfectly now.

On my AMD laptop, I noticed that one of my sticks that previously did not work, now works (at least it does for SSF4 AE on PC, I haven’t tried it with anything else). I haven’t changed anything.

Does this have to do with the patch that Capcom said they were going to do? If not I’ll chalk it up to a miracle and be happy in my ignorance.

bought a 3.0 hub and tried it but it didn’t work. Im guessing its because my laptop usb ports are 2.0 and when i plug in the hub it still registers as 2.0 even though i hook up the te stick to the 3.0 port on the hub? i dont know really just my guess. Seems like im just out of luck at this point…

Do you mind if you tell me the make and model of your hub?
