The MOJO has legit hardware though: Quad-core 1.8Ghz CPU, 2GB Ram, and Nvidia Tegra 4 Graphics. Its powerful enough to run N64, dreamcast, and PSP games to near perfection. As well as high-end google play store games, like Neon Shadow.
Even the revision 2 Raspberry Pi still has trouble with a lot of that stuff.
Plus its easy as hell to set things up. If you’ve ever messed with an android device or phone, you know what to expect. Download the Emulators off google play store and you’re good to go. The raspberry Pi still requires you to know your way around linux, command lines, and all sorts of other crap.
You do have to root the MOJO first but, that’s really easy to do. Found an app that is just 1-click away (towelroot v1).
MadCatz hasn’t been like this for over half a decade now. And they’ve been spending more than ever on making their products better. The problem is that we got idiots like po here who can’t get past their past reputation.
Of course, it doesn’t help that MadCatz isn’t going the lazy Hori route and simply rehashing their cases/designs for succeeding generations. They put out 4 distinct form factors of arcade sticks in 1 generation along, compare with Hori who reused 1 form factor, while introducing 2, 1 of which was going to end up being continued into the next generation.
Fuck it, MadCatz making quality sticks with arcade parts (and Hori stepping up after them) easy to acquire actually helped builders.
What most fools don’t know is that builders barely make a buck out of customs. With quality sticks now more easily available, many custom builders have been able to actually emphasize the “custom” part of their sticks and market them as something above the off the shelf stuff and charge more for their stuff (and therefore actually make some money).
seems to me it would have much more to do with there just being tons more people interested in buying arcade sticks than pre 2009. competition generally doesn’t drive prices up.
It’s partly that, but mostly because alot of the custom builders who stayed around realized that a) they couldn’t directly compete with MCZ/Hori/etc. b) that people were willing to pay more for when the customs went beyond just a box with buttons.
Look at some of the stuff guys like b15 have put out. Most of his customs now average $500 a pop. Even just buying a case and parts will set you back nearly $200 not including labor.
Should have made cheaper custom sticks. A lot of gamers I know only have one stick, mostly due to cost. Imagine being able to customize your sticks easier, and being able to buy 3 or 4, even for use in other games.
People that use a specific layout and or buttons/stick for the type of game they’re playing ex: 2d or 3d fighting games, shmups/stg’s etc, some people that have more than 1 console controller also like to have more than 1 stick for friends. A stick for tournaments that is easy to carry or one you don’t mind lending out to friends then having your nicer one at home.
FGC is probably a pretty concentrated market for Mad Catz, hence the involvement, but it’s not more than a quarter of what they do. Although they would probably be in trouble if people suddenly stopped buying their sticks they don’t live and die by them as such.
(Other interesting tidbit: “In fiscal 2015, approximately 72% of our annual sales were transacted outside the United States.”)
Also, their net sales last year were over $86 million. If they keep losing money there could be some kind of buy-out or restructuring but a company that size probably isn’t going to just shut its doors and turn off the lights.
Razer is a private company, so no data to compare there.
Are you defending them because they got philippinos working there of what? Their pads break in couple months time, his the fucj is that good quality. Their sticks use QC failed sanwa parts not even close to being as good as real sanwas. Fuck mc.
Having trouble with your reading comprehension? Just asked if you are backing them up because of a phillipino thing. A yes or no would have been sufficient.
