All I can think of when I see him is the movie Super Troopers where he’s all jacked up on mushrooms…lucky kid…fucking lucky ass kid…
Now now, settle down libby. I’m sure he’s an incredibly charismatic, funny, salt-of-the-earth fellow who treats her with the utmost respect.
:crybaby:

She’s insane…so fucking hot…
Saw the rerun tonight, that was really cool how Don handled the “hotel fire” situation, I was expecting some bigoted reaction, but he handled it really cool.
That was fucked up timing. Had Don come down the fire escape like 5 seconds sooner or 5 seconds later he would have missed it, or at least everyone would have been dressed.
^Yeah really, but it’s seriously that guy’s fault, he was already jittery as shit when the booty cal- I mean bellboy came up, he should’ve gotten the fuck out of there, but what were the odds that Don was gonna come down the fire escape at that exact time too?
they’ve shown throughout the show that don is pretty tolerant, a good example is in the ep where he punches jimmy barrett out. earlier in the episode, him and sterling are talking and it comes up that another agency hired a black kid and don says, “i wouldn’t want to be that kid,” rather than make a joke or use that voice like roger did. that along with promoting peggy shows that he values results, but still understands society as a whole…which is why he played sal the way he did.
pete’s gonna try and blackmail don into giving him the position. either that or he’s gonna lose out to kenny and threaten to (or outright) expose don. that’s why he stormed into his office, but didn’t have anything to say once her saw roger and then cooper.
i’m glad the episode unfolded the way it did, i thought don was gonna get busted for cheating again which would’ve made me cry lol. that stewardess was hot as shit though, not as hot as his wife but still i’d have hit it.
I don’t think blackmail will work though. He tried it once before to no results. Pete needs to get over himself and do his fucking job, otherwise Kenny is going to bury him. It’s going to be interesting to see what direction the ad aganency goes in. I’m glad to see they are starting to focus more on television as it is obviously the new frontier of media for them.
The concept of the show was based on an advertising boom that went on during the early 60s, and my suspicion would be that the boom is over, and thus all of the firings. It’ll be interesting to see who makes it through the season, or if the whole company goes down in flames.
SRK’s elite are giving this show props in this thread
i gots to check it out then
with the type of status don is gaining blackmailing him now seems like it’d be way more effective than last time when it essentially came down to cooper’s opinion, although you might have a point.
I dunno though, some of the upcoming preview play it out like there will be some question as to Don’s value with the company…we’ll see how it goes.
The redhead chick in this show is fuckin stacked…that is all.
hmm i didn’t get to see a preview in the version i downloaded…can’t wait until next sunday (or really monday since i’m at least 13 hrs ahead of most of you)!
I think it’s unlikely, since it didn’t work the first time. If it worked a second time for whatever reason, it would be a betrayal of Matt Weiner’s writing.
People are getting fired because the company was bought out, not because the boom is over.
I don’t trust previews anyways, they always try to sell you on what you think is going to happen…
SO, yet another AMAZINGLY written episode. I love the subtlety of this show. I spent all weekend watching season 1 of True Blood. While I do enjoy the show, it uses such obvious show tactics to keep the viewer interested like cliffhanger endings and predictable drama. Mad Men avoids all that bullshit and just provides you with an amazing piece of television.
I love Peggy so much…

Spoiler
When she grabbed that dude’s hamburger I said “OH SNAP” out loud. And when she said “we can do other things…”
Looks like she’s going crazy, though.
I think Peggy is dealing with conflicting emotions - on one hand she’s a young lady in a time when being a young lady means finding a good man, and at the same time, she’s an ad exec now, someone of power who is focussed on her career. I think that’s why Don said “use your tools” to her, telling her not to try to be too much at one time.

[details=Spoiler]I find it interesting that she says she is a secretary. It’s very telling of the time. However, in the end, she ends up using the guy in the same way Don is known to use women. She is trying to become Don in a way.
I think Don is going to end up leaving Sterlin-Cooper by the end of the season if thisngs don’t change. He may even start his own ad company. He was dead-on with the whole Madison Square Garden thing, and the new owners are too short-sighted to see it.[/details]
Poor Peggy, torn between her dreams of equalitarian success and maintaining her femininity. This is why she’s my favorite character, and why this is an awesome show.
I love how Don’s charm usurps even the most surly of clients, it’s like a muscle memory at this point.
the wife
[details=Spoiler] lol It’s hilarious how moody she is,but one thing I like about her character is that she shows indignation with a measure of poise.
lol at the historically accurate preggo smoking too. I kept cringing every time she lit up.[/details]
