Mad Catz TE2 Xbox 360 stick have issues on PC

i bought the Mad Catz Tournament Edition 2 (Xbox 360 version) stick and it arrived today. I’d planned on only using the stick on my PC, and the store page assured me it would work fine:

so, i unbox the stick and plug it in, and i start having issues right off the bat. first, my PC didn’t want to recognize the stick. i’d plug it in, the green 360 logo would light up on the stick, and then it would go out. i tried multiple USB ports (which work perfectly fine with everything else i own), but the problem persisted. finally, i was able to get it to stay on in one of my USB ports. as a side note, i used a normal 360 controller last night for another game and it had absolutely no issues.

once i get into Ultra SF4, i start having more issues. now, keep in mind i’m not new to SF, nor am i new to arcade sticks, nor am i new to Mad Catz sticks (i’ve owned a couple before). so, i go into training mode to start practicing stuff, and it feels like my inputs are dropping. i’d do 2-3 jabs in a row and one would just drop out of the input, or i’d go to move the joystick in a certain direction and the character would just stand there, so i’d have to return the stick to resting position and move it again to get the character to move. or i’d try to do a DP quickly to react to something and the input wouldn’t go through.

as a last resort, i loaded up SFxT on my 360 (i don’t have SF4 on 360 anymore, so i couldn’t do a 1 to 1 comparison). the stick was recognized instantly when i plugged it in. i went into training mode and messed around, and it felt ok, but i can’t be positive since i don’t play SFxT. but i didn’t notice any dropped inputs.

so, any idea what’s wrong? i really don’t see how it could be my PC since every other USB device i use works fine, regardless of which USB ports i plug them into. and like i said, i’ve used Mad Catz sticks before on PC and they’ve worked fine.

Do you got any friends that have a Xbox 360 that they will let you test out the stick?
If so, do so. If the stick works we can focus on the PC. If the stick do not work, then we know it could be the stick.

ok, so i found my old SSFIV disc. i didn’t realize i still had it since i couldn’t find it earlier. i tossed it into my 360 and started messing around in training mode. same character and everything, just so i could make the comparison as accurate as possible. there were no lost or dropped inputs, no issues connecting the fight stick, nothing. it worked perfectly fine. i even stopped after a few minutes and plugged the stick back into my PC and messed around, and i still got the occasional lost input and overall lack of responsiveness.

any idea what the deal is? my PC is only a few months old (custom built), and like i said in my original post, every other USB device i have works flawlessly in any of my USB ports. could the windows controller support software need to be downloaded again? i really don’t know what else to suggest. also, i have my game set to run at 60fps just to keep everything normal.

if it matters at all, here’s my PC build:

NZXT Phantom 820
i5 4690k @ 4.4GHz
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 7
Corsair H100i liquid cooler
G.Skill Trident X Series 16GB
SLI Gigabyte GTX 970 4GB WINDFORCE
EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified
Samsung 850 Pro Series 256GB SSD
Western Digital BLACK SERIES 2TB HDD
AOC 144Hz G-Sync monitor

any suggestions/insight would be super appreciated. i’d really like to be able to use this on my PC.

Go ahead and do that just to be safe.

I signed up to post in this thread since our situation has so many similarities.

I borrowed a friend’s ‘Mad Catz Ultra Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition 2 for Xbox 360’ to use on my PC and I’m experiencing the same dropped inputs that you’re having on Skullgirls and Ultra Street Fighter IV.

The stick works flawlessly on his Xbox 360.

My system specs:

Windows 8.1 Pro x64
Intel i7-4790K CPU
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H Motherboard
16GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 770

I already have the wired Xbox 360 controller driver installed (it came with Windows 8.1 if I remember correctly) and I use my wired Xbox 360 controller to play fighting games and other games, it works flawlessly and I experience no dropped inputs.

If it matters, the stick was bought from amazon.com in early May.

is there a fix for this yet? because my stick drops inputs in the same exact way.

Is yours an Xbox 360 model of the TE2? From what I’ve seen on the internet the PS4/PS3 versions work fine on PC.

Xbox One versions should be avoided for PC use as I heard that two buttons cannot function when used on a PC.

^ totally not related to his issue

On the Steam Discussions people said it works perfectly. So what’s the deal?

Err, sorry… I just felt the need to say that since I’m in the market for a stick. I might just wait for the PS3/PS4 vanilla TE2.

I really like the Xbox 360 TE2 however, it’s my first time with a stick, but I can tell that it’s a quality product.

Can you link me to Mad Catz’s site where people mentioned the issues?
