- madcatz sells a surprising amount of mice and headsets, pretty much everything they sell besides rock band 4 controllers are doing well
- they’re required to get rid of all of their rock band 4 inventory by september 9
- they saved more money on all the layoffs and restructuring than expected, and moving forward they’ll continue to be tight with money (maybe that rock band 4 garbage won’t go on sale)
- still, rock band 4 tho. they go to great lengths to emphasize that they would be doing well if rock band 4 hadn’t happened
mad catz spread themselves out way too thin and lost focus, like seriously, why would you invest that much money into rockband crap? lol…should have used the funds on improving their quality control and R&D, and try to maintain what they were good at. I know their RAT mice did have a decent following, i actually used it before and it was actually comfortable, but a little bit twitchy sometimes. If they improved their QC and continued to innovate like how they made the TE2 the most popular stick design, for example but improved build quality like squeaks and panels flexing, and loose, etc, then they could have lasted longer, i personally still love the Te2+ chassis the most out of all the sticks, even today.
I’m not really sure how SFV was bad for MadKatz as far as drivers are concerned since SFV supports their old sticks, unless we are talking about how that kept people from buying new sticks, which I mean with SFVs low sales they wherent pushing product with that software either way.
Mad Catz failed as their was a over production of products, then Mad Catz had to put everything “On sale” so often.
Every major tournament mad catz took part in had a major pre-tournament sale.
It didn’t leave them in a good spot for when Rock Band took its toll on the company (also with Mad Catz taking the entire burden on the Rock band accessories instead of forcing the publisher to take their equal share of the R&D and production costs).
Sorry for it being a mobile link, but this was just posted barely even 5 minutes ago.
Mad Catz suddenly no longer defunct? Their website has also been updated with strictly mice, keyboards, and headphones. No mention of arcade sticks anymore.
UPDATE:
CNET article posted the same time as the link above. Apparently Mad Catz was bought by a Chinese company quite some time ago.
Yeah the workers who ran the factories that made stuff for mad catz bought the name and all the designs from the liquidation of madcatz. Plus they have all the existing tooling and schematics and they are putting out the last bit of PC accessories that were just out or were in development back in the market, minus the overpriced jank no one needs. They say the console stuff comes later
So then it’s not the same madcatz anymore huh
different corporation, same factories
So it is now something worth cheering for?
Pretty interesting. I wonder if they’ll ever get back to making sticks. I feel like Hori is the most prominent company making sticks right now. I like their cases, but I’m not a huge fan of the fact that they come with Hori parts rather than Sanwa. Kinda makes finding a stick nowadays hard.
Explain to me how these fuckers come back but SRK dies?
Yeah, can’t they sell SRK to a Chinese company? Their bots are already here anyways.
Madcatz should buy srk… But then it would be broken and you’d only let your friends you don’t like use it
Wow. Who revived this thread? lol
How is that any different to current functionality?
Outside investors buys the name and all the designs after the death of Mad Catz.
SRK is alive with inoperable terminal cancer, we need someone with a magic touch to save this place.
Those are Korean bots you fucking racist
but are they going to make all the same products? The revival trailer had PC accessories bullshit, they might abandon fightsticks for all we know, which makes them irrelevant to the FGC
I hope they ditch fight sticks and go full speed on strange guitar controllers and 200€ custom gamepads like that abomination they did before.
Just do it.

The guitars and custom gamepads is what made them go broke
