Mad Catz arcade stick. LT/RT. Cant Figure it out

Yes I have searched. I have a madcatz retro arcade stick (The ugly atari looking one) pcb.

The problem is that the stick will work fine for a few minutes. Out of nowhere the triggers will die and screw up the whole button setup. All of the kicks will cut out in SF4. If you unplug it and plug it back in it will work for a short while.

I have tried the 10K resistor. Did not work. The buttons will activate when asked to for the first few minutes normally then go out. I followed the you tube video to the T. The terminals for the triggers are removed. Its down to the pads. I have the wire soldered to the resistor and everything. I am using the common ground to active the button.

Please do not tell me to search. I have. For weeks now. My stick is collecting dust because of this problem.

Is there ANYTHING i can do to get the triggers activated like a normal button without going hay wire within minutes?

Thank you for your help!

i just got a madcatz stick, the numbers on the pcb are rsf-4758-1-1, 280906, 0644. Don’t know which ones are relevant, or if it will help. Wild guess, turn off the turbo, set start to 1, and turn off the spinner. Will try and padhack it soon and see if the problem occurs. Sounds like you have a dud though if it works at first and then dies. Have you also encountered the same problem when it’s plugged into a pc and view the Game Controllers settings.

Hmm i never looked at the spinner. Turn it to the right or left? Also I do not think the turbo is on

holy cow, how do you even use that thing

Off is right position for the spinner, setting start to 1 is leftmost position.

Only thing I can think of is trying a 4.7k resistor instead of 10k. I had a 10k on the one i’ve just hacked and the triggers weren’t responding until I swapped to 4.7k resistors and all’s fine. Not the same symptoms your having, but that’s all I can think of right now. I’m selling the one I just hacked in the Trading Outlet

Actually there is a thread about this issue already. Someone sent their stick in and still has the problem. Both triggers still craps out after being sent in.

I do not have the TE fight stick. I have a custom one with a MAd Catz Arcade (Retro?) pcb.

Thanks for the help infoseeker ill give that a shot!

anyone?

I use the same pcb and I use 10k resistors followed by 1n914 diodes (don’t think this is necessary unless it’s dual pcb mod though) on both triggers and they work perfectly.

But are you sure it’s the triggers that is the problem? Will the rest of the buttons still not work if you don’t use the triggers?

If the triggers are simply left alone with ONLY the resistor on them the board will play ok. Obviously the triggers are not being used nor is there a wire on them.

If the resistors have a wire on them and they are used then after about 1 minute the board will then act up. Pretty much all kicks are disabled.

Anyone recommend another pcb to use?

well you still have six buttons and a working pad if that’s the case at least.

argos have 19.99 madcatz pads (15 if you buy “software” with it), I can’t guarantee they’ll be the ones without the funky trigger hack, but the one I used was common ground and didn’t need a funky hack for the triggers.

i am getting this bug more often :frowning:

anyone know if mas systems still makes joysticks?
