Because watching MANvsGAME die over 12,000 times while playing I Wanna Be The Boshy is infinitely more entertaining than playing through that misery myself. And also because some muthafuckas are just genuinely hilarious.
I don’t know why the concept of enjoying watching others play is something that flies over some heads, but it’s been a really big deal for a few years now.
When I play Minecraft, I’m usually bored as fuck… yet when I watch other mofos build castles and shit, it blows my mind.
It’s kinda like how most people here hate UMVC3 or SSF IV but get hyped as fuck when they see tournament footage of said games.
Theres this really good youtuber called The RPG Fanatic, he lost a year of his channel’s life trying ot get out of a contract with them. Sucks for him.
But isnt DSP part of Machinima?
He hasnt said anything about this, but a while back I remember there was a controversy with someone who makes WOW videos who wasnt let out of the contract, and he did comment on that. Apparently this isnt even the first time that partners are vocal about it. Machinima simply doesn’t give a dam.
Thats the thing about the video that I find dubious.
He mentions how after he signed with Machinima, he got a lot more viewers, yet he later says repeatedly that Machinima had nothing to do with his success.
I understand why he would want to leave Machinima and warn others not to join: he stated some pretty compelling reasons, but don’t act like the partnership was completely one-sided.
Isn’t he signed with them now? That’s the ultimate irony
Yeah, DSP wouldn’t sign with them originally, but after he got banned from blip.tv for making jew killing jokes, Machinima offered him a deal again and he took it.
I didn’t even watch the video, but I assume it’s about Machinima’s shitty content rights setup, which is really old news. There are a good half dozen other content networks with better deals for content creators. The only thing Machinima has to offer is size and connection opportunities, and if you can do that yourself then it’s not necessary.
