M.O.D.O.K. Thread 2: Orgasm Harder

Has MODOK’s DHC trick been patched out? I’ve been trying Killer Illumination DHC to Wesker counter, then picking it up from there, but it’s not resetting damage scaling.

Right now, I don’t believe MODOK is a DHC starter…he is a DHC ender. So it’s not patched…it’s just that we don’t have a way of making MODOK’s DHC glitch as a starter without some help of Trish’s peekaboo.

EDIT:Through, I have seen people use MODOK as a starter by DHC after the 30th hit of the grab super.

Superjump/pushblock could kill that.

You know, I’m inclined to believe that the barrier assist is actually pretty damn good. It’s great to use in the corner against invincible assists, when counter-zoning, and best of all is actually pretty decent in a CC. MODOK will take 1 hit, but the wall will still come out, ensuring that your opponent can’t continue a combo.

Been Mixing Modok into My Haggar/Dormammu Team lately

MarlinPie was running a MODOK/Dante/Sentinel team yesterday on the Break weekly stream. MODOK pretty much shined in the corner when the character got opened up. Had a good 5-6 cube corner combo utilizing both assists. Pretty good midscreen combos too…

^I feel MODOK is someone you want reserved on your second slot. You have to try to kill with your point char, then switch into MODOK and start your shenanigans. MODOK is beast at keeping people pinned in the corner and doing a bunch of high/low/throw mixups as long as you have assists around. Outside the corner, you have to mix in zoning as well as using your body attack along with your assists to force an opening. Body attack is an amazing AA tool for MODOK btw. It’s great at covering your more notable weakspots from above and behind you.

does it beat wolverine’s dive kick? must test this as an anti air

Exactly. Marlinpie would be 10x more successful with MODOK if he had Magneto(he has a good one)/Dante start a dhc glitch/aerial exchange.They basically do all of the work for MODOK so that MODOK can begin to open up the next character, and destroy the rest of the team. Not to mention that MODOK’s assists aren’t actually bad, and MODOK’s sexiest combos are really in a corner.

I think Wolvie’s divekick can be beat with Standing A from MODOK. MODOK’s standing A has the same properties as Magneto’s Standing A. That is…an Anti-air.

And I believe MODOK is very very good in the 2nd slot. Open up the opponent with shenanigans with your point/battery character and then start raping with MODOK. I think a MODOK team should have…

a.) Good aggressive point character that’s easily able to bring opponent to the corner. They must be able to handle their own. DHC trick is a plus
b.) an assist that either controls a lot of space, gtfo assist, or unblockable setup. (IE…Wesker, Dante, Sentinel, Tron, Haggar etc…)

I still need to understand his midscreen combos… is there an easier way to combo off of Forward H (wall bounce move) --> Anal cube --> to IAD? Some characters my IAD H hits, and other char’s my IAD whiffs, and I just have to S. =/

I’d imagine MODOK’s ground M normals could technically hit Wolverine out of his divekick. I don’t know if it could be properly spaced to beat Dive Kick, but their hit boxes are separate from MODOK’s body. This is because MODOK’s cr.M, and his standing M are projectiles.

Yeah, I know that. I wouldn’t try it though since their range is pretty bad against things coming from above you and also since a crossup dive kick will beat it out anyway. For MODOK, the best way to deal with dive kick is to stay the hell out of its range.

killer illumination > divekicks. You have to be ready for it though. You have to do it right before he hits you so that the invincibility frames overlap the divekick and the move activates after Wolverines landed. On whiff wolverine can’t cancel out of it as far as I can tell and a wiffed dive kick leaves him pretty free.

True but good luck timing that bad boy, if you mess it up…dead MODOK.

Not necessarily. If you’re a little too early you have the option to DHC into your next character if your timings a little off and still punish or at the least be safe. The way I look at it, regardless if he hits you or if you successfully block it (given then have a spamable assist, which they probably do) you’re pretty much dead anyways lol. If you catch him slipping he’s dead as well. Lately I’ve been using it purely for its invincibility frames…it has A TON, and then DHCing/xfactoring to score some easy happy birthdays :). Personally I always look for the drill claw > Dive kick to catch them. After any drill claw its almost certain to come afterwards.

Does anyone here use Logan/Modok? Would you be interested in some combos/videos regarding the duo? Let me know and I’ll do it. It’s WAY too quiet around here and this thread title sucks. Someone change it, damn. :slight_smile:

Sure, go ahead and post up some wolvie/Modok tech. Not my team, but I have thought about using them before. Besides, cant hurt to see more Modok videos around here.

Sorry if this has been covered already but…

How do you fly to the top of the screen? I try to SJ and then do his Body Attack upwards, but I can’t seem to fly after that.
Another option would be me just manually “flying” up there, but of course when I use his body attack it cancels flight…

Well, I always do his “jump” flight, then two body attacks, then QCB + S flight. That works pretty well. :slight_smile:
