M.O.D.O.K. Thread 2: Orgasm Harder

Would you be so kind WorstPlayer and upload some match videos of your MODOK please.
Many thanks in advance.

I have not been able to find any high lvl videos of MODOK used so far and to be honest i would rather like to see some mid lvl play since I am nowhere near even attempting high lvl stuff.

I’m not sure what other people use as their Bread and Butter combo but here’s mine for now, like many people here I’m not high level play so the combo is simple but effective:

s.S, s.j, j.M, j.M, j.S, land, cr.M, s.S, s.j, j.M, j.M, j.S, land, cr.M Limit Burst super.

Basically this is just a launch with 2 medium hits, knockdown, OTG with slime, relaunch, repeat combo, OTG with slime into Limit burst super.
If the opponent isn’t near the corner by the second part of the combo, then you’ll have to cut straight to the limit burst super.
There’s ways to add more to the combo but it works great for me now.

Congrats to P.Gorath and Husser Brian for making a great MODOK showing at WNF!

Just started messing around with modok, partly because people don’t know how to fight against him. And yea, hes a wicked troll. Coupled him with Sentinel at point and doom for hidden missile asst. My friends are raging hard.

Maybe this is common knowledge or something but I was trying to do some fly combos and I did something weird. I would do a simple launch series and then enter fly mode but I pressed :s: then :l: immediately. MODOK used the cube first and then went to fly mode. Tried to combo something but since my execution sucks and I’m in a PS3 controller, I couldn’t really do much after that Analyze Cube. >_<

yeah I noticed that the other day. u can piano he buttons and onl need to do one moion instead of 2. I think there is a little lag from acivating flght mode depending on which button u hit first

I’ve been using MODOK since the game came out and I still can’t figure out how to use him all that well. So far he’s been the weak link in my team (Felicia/She-Hulk/MODOK) and I think it’s mainly because I can’t figure out how to do any combos with him, his normals are weird as hell.

Someone please help me on this. What are good normals for starting combos with, as well as good normals for keeping combos going? What should I do after landing an aerial S on a grounded opponent? What are some decent general rules for getting in on your opponent?

ive decided the best way to handle teleporters when you’re on the ground is spam st. L

it comes out so quick that modok will auto turn around and the the teleporter if they come behind you, and you can easy juggle into a special move.

I just started using MODOK too - i find s.M easiest to combo from, just wait till it hits like 4x then do S, and you can super jump into air combo, end with the goo splat to OTG into whatev. Jumping L is pretty good too because it works like an instant overhead (I think I saw that somewhere in this thread too). Goddamn I love modok

I’m finding 3 man team supers really great after OTG goo, you can even goo again once hyper PB is over (it usually is the last super going in a team super) and go into limit burst if you have 4 or 5 bars. Pretty much modok’s death combo: launcher, rave, goo, launcher, rave, goo, team super, goo, limit burst.

Sooooooooo, I’ve been playing theory fighter the past couple of days and trying to build a team that stomps the metagame. I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that M.O.D.O.K. (Balloon Bomb) / Iron Man (Repulsor Blast) / Doctor Doom (Hidden Missiles) should beat essentially everything. M.O.D.O.K. seems to counter almost every major threat in the game and so giving him proper assist support should lead to a nigh-unbeatable team if played properly. Said assists should be Repulsor Blast for the purposes of keeping rushdown off of your ass (while not as good as either Lariat or Gustaff Fire, Iron Man works better with Hidden Missiles than Haggar or Tron) and Hidden Missiles for covering the air.

Of course, now I’ve got to see if my Theory Fighter holds up to reality. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been running this team for the past few days, and there’s definitely good team synergy. The only problems I’m running into are A) damage output (MODOK’s is on the low side when you’re playing such heavy zoning) and B) IM’s repulsor blast is good, but it’s definitely more difficult to get rushdown off of you than the actual invincible assists.

But with MODOK’s air mobility it shouldn’t be too difficult to prevent yourself from getting cornered.

Honestly, I’d go with Sent over Iron Man. Higher health and damage output just can’t be overlooked. While drones may be slower initially, they make up for it blockstun in time.

Has anyone tried the DHC glitch off of killer illumination? Also how does balloon bomb fare w/ magneto or morrigan? I like the barrier to keep pressure on enemies.

I’d say the barrier is definitely underrated as an assist (I use it successfully anyway). It really depends on the character and their blockstrings. I’ve seen nice balloon bomb pressure with Wolverine, so my guess is that it works nicely with fast characters.

Here’s the big thing about Iron Man’s Repulsor Blast: It eats Hidden Missiles. That’s absolutely huge.

MODOK’s got the DHC bug.

You just have to hit the opponent once before doing it.

Anyone have any suggestions for MODOKS c.:h:IAD:m: loop? I tend to get HPB trying to IAD.

Hmmm, good point. Hidden missiles have messed my team up quite a few times. I have to stay grounded and psionic blaster to prevent hidden missiles, or hide in a barrier.

I’d still use Sent until you know you are facing a Doom though.

I predicting that pretty much everyone and their mother is going to be running Doom for Missiles. As such, IM will be necessary.
