How else do you plan on getting in for combos? I find that airdash j.s is the fastest and most reliable way in, and its not too bad to hitconfirm off of. Jump m has too wonky of a hitbox and jump a has nowhere near enough range to be reliable.

yeah, Jump S is pretty good for starting combos. Comes out faster than J. H too.

And j.E is a great attack yeah. How are you gonna hate on it o.o It’s got great range and lasts for awhile so you can fall with it from pretty high and still land. With a good assist it’s guaranteed too (Ammy cold star assist is a great way to lead into it)

I can’t for the life of me figure out modok’s combos. i don’t know which normals cancel into others.

i get rushed down something fierce when i play this guy… its humiliating. How do you guys keep people off and push offense?

Whats the most amount of cubes someones got off a midscreen combo? Not including throws and no starting midscreen and ending up in the corner.

As a general tip, at the start of the round, abusing Modok’s ability to fly higher than the enemy can jump and still call assists is gold

I use haggar to push them back. I think it’s essential for any Modok team to have a ā€œgtfomā€ assist. Once you can get them off of you, start barrier, analyze cubes and psionic blasts to keep them away and to start the zoning.

I am so bad with Modok, I get rushed down fo freeeeee.

I was originally playing Modok/Akuma/Shulk, but I really really need an assist that gets people off of me right now to do anything.
So, I went to Modok/Sent/Tron. Tron’s fire is really good, but I don’t like using Sent. I love the character, but he is too crazy right now and I want to win with Modok, not him. lol, I couldn’t even get rushed down with Sent on point because you can combo into his c.m if they get caught by Tron’s assist.

Things I want to work on:

-Utilize head attack more. I feel like this is some holy grail of mobility if harnessed correctly with Modok’s awesome flight.
-Dealing with super jumps. Once I get my barrier/goop/cube obstacle course going, people just s.j over and land behind me or in between me and my aegis.

So, any tips, Modokers?

Personally I like to actually back myself into a corner with him, I know it’s probably a terrible idea, but I run Modok/Sent/Haggar, I could not even imagine using Modok without Haggar’s double lariat. But if you are in the corner and they super jump, if you use his standing light it will hit them if they try to jump behind you and push them forward, as well as a well timed psi blast which will push them. I sit in the corner and when they jump I bring haggar out so they land right on his lariat, then do L analyze cube because they tend to try to roll towards Modok, then psi blast them back, seems to be working fairly well.

Just picked up the Brady Games strat guide and alot of the info there is extremely useful. For example, looking at the data, MODOK’s hyper psionic blast has the most durability points of any projectile or beam hyper, meaning that if you activate it in response to someone else activating their projectile hyper, you WILL beat it out. This makes MODOK’s zoning game even BETTER, since he doesn’t have to worry about random projectile supers beating out his barrier. I was activating it during the cinematic for Dante’s Million Dollars and I won every single time.
The only exceptions to this are hypers where multiple projectiles are shot that aren’t in direct line of the beam (and therefore won’t be negated): Sentinel Force (eff him!), Trish’s, I believe Task Master’s arrow shot and any others that go under his beam.

If anyone wants to start a thread for MODOK frame data, I’ll post up what I can; I just can’t start it myself since I may not be able to maintain it on a regular basis.

Oh yes, and according to the data, it’ll even beat out Zero’s level 3 sword slash, lol (sword slash has 100 high priority durability points whereas HPB has 22 frames x 5 high priority durability points… or 110 points total)

And does the barrier really block hyper projectiles? I’ve tried it and I could’ve sworn it been broken by them each time. I may be wrong though. However I main this guy for the sole purpose for trolling lol.

Something peeps might not know about; his light air psionic blaster does knock down, and since it has relatively short recovery, you can connect a j.A or downward airdash + j.C/j.E in the corner off of it, leading to more or a relaunch.

Experimenting still.
