Not only against her, the whole cast would be much easier. He still would have many, many, MANY problems to solve; but not having an AA with his current walkspeed and lack of reversal is Capcom worst decision about Bison’s design, he is constantly under pressure.
I think his VT and V-skill both fell short of perfection. The obviously wanted to gimp the character somewhat then make him insane during VT which would’ve balanced things out. But having seen Boxer’s VT, I can’t help but think that Bison’s VT (which once I thought was one of the best) is a bit subpar. If his VT is subpar, then the whole design concept becomes flawed.
Given that his VT is called “Psycho Power”, with the intent of amplifying all his Psycho Powered attacks. He really should’ve:
1- Gotten a damage boost of no less than 10% on his throws, HP, DF+HP, and C.HP. This is in addition to all the buffs to all his specials (including skulldiver), and removing unintended nerfs to them (like some of the property changes Kriger mentioned).
2- HP, DF+HP, and C.HP have improved hitboxes and frame data (ala Alpha 3 Final Bison).
3- His CA should get significant damage boost during VT making the choice between ex cancels and VT CA more tempting.
4- His V-skill becomes really amped up, with excellent frame data and the ability to absorb any EX projectile.
I think if his VT got these bonuses, his V-skill got a buff outside of VT, and his VT lasted longer/didn’t deplete as fast, it would actually justify his current non-VT state as is.
Capcom could either make his VT/V-skill reach its maximum potential (insane!) or it could take the more “all-round Ryu-like” balancing approach and just tweak Bison here and there making him reasonably stronger in both in and out of VT. Both approaches are fun to me for different reasons.
these fights between Galtu, Tokydo and the Ken player show in a nutshell all the Bison weak spots; his dependency in EX meter while Ryu always has C.A available, the lacking of AA leaves him in a state of helplessness, how fast he gets dizzy, how easy can be stop his dash and once in corner he can’t get out; when I get in conner with Juri I can jab, Vreversal or EX spinwheel they are not constantly over me because they are afraid of these 3 options with Bison is basically GAMEOVER.
It also showed that his limited movement options only go so far. Galtu does his best job at misdirection, but Bison’s movement options are easy to counter with a dp. Tokido was even ready with cross cut DP’s
yes, that’s another problem his floating jump. Beside isn’t even necessary be ready, the game “autocorrect” do the job for them and sometimes (well many time) us get inferno which lead to a punishment because the move has ZERO invincibility.
I never really did but I appreciate him playing the character.
Moons and Phenom are my favorite interpretations of the character in SF5 (to see). Galtu’s is the most balanced though, and he has had some of the most insane comebacks.
Venom has made excellent use of Bison’s forward dash (to pass through projectiles and other attacks fluidly) and v-skill recently.
I never really rated Phenom that highly until he won Dreamhack with Bison about 2 years back. The only major I seen Bison win, but I don’t think it was that highly stacked a competition.
I played Phenom a small bit a few years back and beat him, but I think he was only starting out back then. Only played him once in V online and he won 2-0 but both games were extremely close.
Problem X I played against in a long set about two years ago back in Ultra, he was stomping all the locals with secondaries characters but I was able to beat all this secondaries easy enough. Then he wiped out Seth and at first it was even but he gradually figured me out. Only played his Viper a small bit and he won comfortably enough, even though it was a favorable match up for Bison. I always sucked at it along with the Ibuki match up. Played last year as well briefly and again he was stomping people with secondary characters like Yang. I went even with him using Hugo and my Hugo was truly garbage.
Overall though he’s a decent guy in person. No real ego and has a sense of humor.
