From this video it appears that headstomp can cross-up now, at 2:05 the game say its a “cross-up”. Devil reversecannot cross-up but I am hoping they improved the move in terms of start-up, hitbox and active frames to be a threat.
His V-trigger dash is so fast and looks really amazing so he really have an interesting dynamic. I don’t like how slow he is in his normal state, but he looks so cool and intimidating with the slow walk animation. His V-trigger state looks like it boost his speed considerably with his teleport dash so he can still be the fast character we know and love.
Overall, I just hope they shorten the stages size, it will be really annoying if we have to chase each other on a wide stage, especially with this walk speed.
They did the same thing with his U2 in SF4 but then changed it to a charge move. I’m guessing this will change too, cause it really stands out among those charge moves.
But seeing Chun’s Ultra is also a motion, maybe they decided to go full motion on critical arts. If that’s the case, I wouldn’t really argue with the decision.
@Spada Devil can’t cross up but it switches sides during active v trigger. I presume the same might be true for skulldiver.
Also since his V trigger lasts an eternity and doesn’t go away on knockdown it really will solve a lot of his mobility problems. V Scissor Kicks teleports you in front of the opponent’s face, as does V headstomp teleports you ovrr their head. The walkspeed isn’t gonna cripple him.
@Daemos
I actually meant to refer to the skulldiver not being able to cross-up not the devil reverse, but with his other tools its fine as long as it has a good start up, hitbox and active frames, but like you said, he might be able to cross-up with it during his V-trigger.
While his V-trigger drains the slowest it takes longer to build and it drains rapidly when Bison uses his specials, I think this is to prevent you from being reckless as you will lose the power up state faster but you are given more time to think of your approach.
Chun and Ryu have no changes in the speed in which their V-trigger depletes no matter how much they use their specials but it does depletes considerably faster.
The regular Skulldiver can combo from one of the bits in the video where he hit it and then crouch jabbed.
So no real psycho banish, it’s just that his close fierce has that swipe down now instead of a swipe up like SF4.
I think you’re over psycho analyzing his moveset.
But yeah… pretty much some of the fun bits of Bison in Omega and SFxT got slightly molded together.
Omega head press-> head press cancels into devil’s reverse before hit
SFxT Super scissor kicks made into his EX-Scissor kicks
His dash becomes a warp in V-trigger, he has no regular warp. RIP escape options. Interested to know if his regular dash and V-dash have the same lengths and properties besides being invisible and being able to cross over behind people?
Regular scissor kicks don’t seem to knockdown, but you might be able to link combo it like SFxT and Omega mode
Only thing I’m missing so far is the walk speed. But everything else looks fun and thankfully NOT like SF4 one bit.
But where’s the glorious diagonal roundhouse? Unless he was given a horizontal roundhouse ala the older games?
I don’t mind it, the motion makes bison a lot more dangerous when he has a full super meter stocked, punishes on reaction a lot EZ instead of preping for a charge. I am over joyed that bison is still a charge base char, with all the junk I hear about some players wanting bison to become a full motion char had me worried.
I just checked, Ex specials don’t appear to deplete V meter. However all the regular specials do deplete it but I think some less than others, I’m not sure.
@Daemos I believe all his specials drains meter faster except his critical art, I saw the Eurogamer video and I believe this to be the case. However, his dash don’t affect the rate in which his meter depletes so that’s a plus, we can dash to our hearts contents.
Also, this is just a pure speculation on my part but I think Scissor Kick might be minus on hit but only slightly so, because Bison always gets hit counter hit after he land it and try to do something, maybe the Bison player tried some slow moves but it happened across all the videos I have seen in where Scissor Kick landed.
Most of the Bison players playing in the vids were shit btw. Granted, this is Bison like never before but still i felt some of the players were just mashing.
I kinda like the idea of him being slow/powerful in his normal stage then going super fast when releasing his limiters. Basically Bison going “aight son I’m done fucking with you, gonna give you a psycho enema”.
But some of the Bison videos are played by Capcom people, check this video from Edgewhere the Bison player is from Capcom and both players appears to know what they are doing. You can see that he get hit by counter hit every time he landed Scissor Kick, therefore I still think it might be like Balrog dash punch from what I have seen so far.
Nontheless, I suppose the real showcase of the characters potential will be at E3 from what Capcom is planing, its just a few days away so we will know soon enough.
In another topic, who else like Bison new light punch animation ? it looks like Bison is casually brushing the flies away, its like him saying " shoo…go away will you" I love it xD.
Whenever Bison landed a Knee Press, his next attack got stuffed. I’m hoping the Bison player never tried a light attack and Knee Press actually is + on hit. When I first saw that Knee Press doesn’t knock down I was optimistic that it was + so that he could keep his game going(as opposed to having to go on the defensive). If it is negative then Knee Press not knocking down is a step down.
If you look at the video where he plays against Chun, you will see his normal dash doesn’t look as hideous as it could be. His walk speed is ass, so good by spacing control, but perhaps with his knew move set he doesn’t need it, and V-trigger is basically “god mode” like was said earlier. If that be the case, then it will balance out insofar as you will really have to watch your meter management. That’s pretty cool insofar as they made bison actually not braindead now.
