M.Bison General Thread: Come here prepared to fight a madman, and instead you will find a GOD!

The Psycho Sphere is a short or melee range projectile blast of Psycho energy, most likely b,f+P. It appears to cancel projectiles too since it is a projectile as well.

The other move we saw is either a Psycho Reflect or a Psycho Shot that nullifies projectiles first then fires like Juri’s Kick Fireball from SF4. This move is likely a motion special not charge.

So I am guessing these 2 along with Ex SK, Headstomp, the new teleport dash, and possibly also his ultra will all be options on the table against fireball characters. If we get a new and improved Psycho Punisher also it’s game over shotos, game over.

I’ve been thinking what would be cool for Devil’s Reverse is to merge it with Headstomp. D,u+K gives you a headstomp but if you press punch at any point before you stomp, you cancel HS and reverse into DR’s punch. Alternatively, replace the Somersault Skulldiver with the Devil’s Reverse as a follow-up to Headstomp.

The teleport dash allows you to dash through characters, which means you should be able dash out of corners. So losing Psycho Warp isn’t as big of a deal. We lost 3 specials and but also got 3 specials in return that have better synergy with each other.

Yeah I get the feeling that psycho sphere is the replacement to Pshycho crusher and that special move M.bison used to launch charlie (the one wheren m.bison touches the ground and all that purple goodness erupts from the ground) is a replacement to devils reverse. Game still early in development so everything is subject to change. Something tells me not to get too hyped no matter how stylish and sexy the old man looks.

It’s too late for that… My hype levels are so elevated that they are about to exceed what my body can hold. I’m gonna need to switch bodies with Ryu too. :frowning:

@Daemos , your bodys gonna explode when you are gonna see the inevitable Karin/Alex/Urien reveal ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Do we even have Supers in this game? I don’t think I’ve seen one for Ryu, Chun-Li or Charlie. And his Ultra doesn’t look like the Final Psycho Crusher at all. It looks more like the regular old Psycho Crusher seen from cinematic angles. I hope they add a bit more spice to it and make it look as badass as it used to in Alpha 3.

I’m not sure if there are supers, but Ryu has a shinku hadouken for a ‘super’ and a denjin hadouken for an ‘ultra’. Don’t know if this is unique to him.

Technically, his ultra is neither a Final Psycho Crusher or a (Super) Psycho Crusher, but I believe it qualifies as the former more because he teleports off screen to do it and teleports back to position when he is done. The regular Psycho Crusher super is initiated from and moves at near ground level, while the Final Psycho Crusher is done from the air at mid-screen level. Whether or not Bison goes into Psycho Crusher regardless of the trigger attack will better determine which it is.

SFV psycho crusher remind me the one he do in SFxTK cg video

“…and instead you will find, a GOD!”

tries to Psycho Punisher a Zangief from full screen, eats Gief’s Ultra 2 and dies

Whatever is tied to the revenge meter (Super or Ultra, though the game lists is at a “CA” in the win icons) is what replaces standard supers in this game. Powered like Ultras, though they seem to act more like Supers in that you can cancel into them.

EX meter however is seemingly used only for V-trigger (or whatever it ends up being called) and what we’ve seen so far indicates that it’ll be more important in terms of match than Super/Ultra.

If I recall from SF EX, the head stomp and devils reverse was a merged move, so you could press up + K after a charge, and he would do a head stomp, but if you pressed punch you could cancel into devils reverse, and of course skull diver after a blocked stomp. Not sure if I remember that correctly, but I thought it was like that. Too lazy to go digging through my old games and find out. They are all in boxes. Anyone remember?

I think that would be best if they just added the devils reverse in with the head stomp.

I wish that were the case, but SFEx Bison didn’t have a Devil’s Reverse at all or a d,u+P move even. He did have the Somersault Skulldiver after Headstomp though.

They kinda added them together in Omega mode, so I hope they keep in line with that, but from the video it doesn’t look like it. Hope I’m wrong.

Really. I don’t know why I remember them combining the two. Maybe it was that they took it out, and I’m misremembering that they took it out. I must be remembering the situation backwards.

EX Bison was boss though, that’s probably my favorite version of Bison next to Capcom vs. SNK. Ex Bison had great AA, great pressure and good damage. He was flawless in that game, not like this weak piece of trash we have now who has to chase people down, lame out and work his ass off only to be slapped and ransomed out by some fool who did like three moves the whole game but took half life. I’m really going to be happy if SF5 Bison is boss like I suspect he will be. Anytime they hype a character it’s because they plan to make them broken i.e. Yun and Yang at first.

My fear is he will be so good that everyone will whore him. If they do I still will play him.

That video does make it looks like they straight up took out devils reverse and psycho crusher. Sort of wack really to take out PC. I don’t see why they can’t give us the PC anyway. W/e, maybe this will be a different sort of game.

One thing I am hella looking forward to is NO MORE FADC. It doesn’t look like that mechanic is in the game, and if that is true, THANK GOD. No more panic button, no more stupid crap. I am glad they at least nerfed it, but when I play online it kills me because even when you hit c.short on reaction online sometimes you get thrown anyway due to lag. So glad to finally be able to punish people who DP spam. omg that will feel so good.

My brief analysis. Omitting evidence right now, or thi post would be much, much bigger.

Stance no longer produces a large hurtbox. Seems to be like SF4’s Adon/Juri now.

Psycho Banish is his Close HP or Back HP.
Knee strike is Close HK or Back HK. Maybe +6 on hit.
Cr.MP is probably 6f. No longer plus on hit.
Cr.HK pops up on Counter Hit only.
J.HP is also NJ.HP.

Grab, lift, spin and send away is foward throw
Grab, explode and throw away is backthrow

I call the Sphere “Psycho Blast”. charge back foward punch. Comboes into headpress. Heavy damage from Close HK > Cr.MP > Blast >Headpress seems decent damage. Fast startup. Big hitbox.

the flame pillar I call “Hellfire”. Probably charge down up punch. May work similarly to Psycho Sting. It’s Bison’s get-out-of-me (also antiair) move. Unlike EX Psycho from SF4, it may be unsafe, but the enemy falls close to him, allowing pressure. I guess LP is quick, but HP is quite slow. Jumping over Bison no longers makes him lose his reversal this way.

Headpress is no longer a “lets use it randomly and hope it connects” anymore. The OTG gives it solid usefulness. EX Headpress no longer produces skull diver. Hits airborne enemies and pushes them to the ground.

Teleport is probably his dash. Probably not invulnerable since frame 1.

Scissors EX has a brief invulnerability (he disappears briefly). I don’t think it’s meant to be his way of going through projectiles anymore. It might be his way of retaining some invulnerable move after blocking a jump-in to break enemies’ blockstrings.

Psycho Shot… I don’t know if it requires the initial absorption, but it’s quite unsafe to use anywhere but fullscreen because of the enourmous startup, but at least the projectile’s knockdown is useful. Probably Bison’s only circle motion. This way he can walk foward AND reflect stuff, unlike SF4. This alone would make Guile-like matchups at least decent.

SF5’s Ultras work like SF4’s supers. You can cancel stuff into them. This alone makes Bison’s revenge meter way more reliable than in SF4.

Bison seems solid to me. He may not be strong. That depends on other characters’ strengths, but at least his moveset and inputs seems to make sense to me.

Not sure if it’s already been pointed out, but it’s possible that his new move “Psycho Hellfire” tracks the opponent’s position, or maybe with different strenghts it comes out at different ranges, like Viper’s seismo. Might be his new zoning tool, even if probably below average.

Another thing I noticed is that they may have changed his combat stance, most likely into his typical “crossed arms” pose. Even though we never see it clearly, the recovery animations on his special moves all look like he’s starting to cross his arms.

@KrigerStern It wouldn’t surprise me if Psycho shot requires a fireball absorption to work. It would be a good way to balance an anti-zoning tool without making it a zoning tool itself.

the psycho, reflect shot looks exactly how kula’s qcb p works in kof

Omg you’re right! I totally missed this (I watched the video more times than I am willing to admit), but he has a new fighting stance. His idle animation has him with crossed arms like a boss!

We had a debate about this earlier in the thread and we agreed that Bison’s ‘boss’ stance should be exclusive to Final Bison and he should keep his fight ready stance (CvS2, SF2 etc.) for his normal playable form. I guess that settles it, we really are getting Bison from the SF2 Animated Movie aka BEST BIPSON EVER!

Re: Psycho Hellfire (I prefer Psycho Furnace but whatever)

I imagine the strength of the attack will determine the size of the pillar, with HP causing a larger more vertical pillar with better AA properties. Possibly different angles, but I doubt varying distances because of the way Bison moves his hand, the pillar literally bursts out of his palm.

@“Kriger Stern”

Note that the Head Stomp only combos from Psycho Sphere during his V-Trigger, which appears to reduce charge time and buff ex moves even more. Besides that, your analysis is on point.

Yeah I noticed the new fighting stance, bowever I dont think he is going to be crossing his hands, more along the lines of moving both arms in a similar fashion to say Magnetos zen hands and what not.

If that new fighting stance thing is real, then I’m getting this game even if it’s released with just four characters!

I see his normal scissor kicks no longer cause knockdown, maybe this could open up combo opportunities as he could link off normals from it,
Similar to how Evil Ryu can link off stuff from his Axe Kick maybe ?

Suddenly I’m really curious what Bison’s HK looks like…
