i really could see capcom doing something stupid like making HVB un tigerknee-able
Im sorry…I fail to see how that actually translates to them being characters in a fighting game. Is the storyline a part of their movelist?
I mean. I dont get your rant.
You know, I fail to see why people want Gambit in MvC again so badly. He’s not a very interesting character story wise (he was made to cash in on the anti-hero hype Wolverine created, after all). His intended playstyle was plain and unfocused in the Marvel series, mixing up between unspectacular zoning and predictable, punishable crossups. The most memorable things he offered in the series were lazy, but hard to start infinites, and a freeze glitch. So hype…
Though this doesn’t make me sigh more than all this Carnage love. We already have one shapeshifting, omnicidal maniac in the game… With eye beams! And more class! Carnage has nothing that we haven’t already seen before.
Yeah he is anti-venom, he still has symbiote powers, it is just now he is invulnerable to heat and sonic waves, he can heal people, he can take away super powers, and his costume is inverse.
Brock is still active dude and he is who the fanbase associates as venom
He brings new powers to the table.
The funny thing is Marvel has control over who makes it in the game, but what the actual fans want should override what Marvel is doing.
Its really some bitch shit to be honest.
Did putting X-23 in MvC3 really boost the sales of her comic? Exactly. I see what they were trying to do, but that shit is stupid. The same way characters who are “dead” or “not current” in the Marvel arc have a low chance of making it in the game. That shit is stupid. For all the Capcom reps that supposedly lurk on this board you would think some of them would at least have the nerve to bring these things up in those important meetings that they have.
Like…why did capcom have to “fight” to get certian Marvel characters in in the first place? Lol. Looking at the roster it aint nobody in MY opinion that was worth fighting over, I could have done without any single character on the Marvel side. And yet Cyke, Juggs, Gambit, Cable…all missing. They should have fought for them before Marvel tried to push Capcom into including Cammy-23 to cross-promote her weak ass comic.
And im not even complaining about X-23, just the mentality that marvel has to “ok” certain characters. Why the fuck would some of them be off limits to begin with? It just makes no sense.
I’m sorry, did I just keep it too real?
I agree on some parts. I can understand Marvel wanting to have people expand their knowledge of certain characters (and bring some of the more obscure characters into the mix. But other were just plain terrible and added nothing but disappointment.
If they wanted to increase their sales with comics, they should have went about it in a completely different way. Am I going to buy the comics for X-23, MODOK, She-Hulk, Taskmaster, and Dormammu? No, I’ll just look up what’s going on with Wikipedia. Did I watch the new Thor movie? No (stupid actor and script writers). But I will admit that I was kind of stoked to see Thor make it.
But the veterans deserved to be back in this game regardless of what anyone says. And I do mean ALL of them.
I know about the anti venom , I don’t think marvel would let it happen , they are trying to push flash tompson as the new venom , it would make sence to them for him to be in instead of Brock
which sucks because the only version of venom people like is Eddie
I’d actually like iron man’s design switched to the bleeding edge design , only hope for that though is s movie release
the only marvel character I dislike being in is x 23 , I can’t say Im a fan of modok ,but I think it was a creative choice and has a unique play style
X-23 >>>>> Gambit and Juggernaut
You don’t need to get my Rant. Besides the characters being a worst marketing decision than MODOK (consistently failed attempts at giving them their own book) Team exchanges on the ground sound about as gimmicky as things get, it fits though, lame character designs deserve lame game mechanics.
Gambit and Juggernaut >>>>>>>> X-23 after stepping on her.
I’d actually agree with that since I dislike all 3 of them
A bad marketing decision i wouldn’t think so. Besides, in all the years I’ve played ANY form of Marvel fighters (and the list is pretty long), I have not once ever considered any character that was used to be a bad marketing design even if I never knew them or hated them (never knew Marrow until MvC 2 but she was a good addition as well as Spiral)
I’m pretty sure a small amount of people has ever heard of Taskmaster (as well as MODOK), but Taskmaster’s starting to gain traction as a wild card (hero/villain). But that’s because it revolves around his playstyle. I started to like using him just because of his Aegis Counter (hell I still try to land it in every match just because it’s that awesome). What’s to say that Cloak and Dagger won’t be the same way? Sure they’re “the worst marketing decision” as you put it, but that’s not to say that they might actually be an amazing addition to the roster. Hell if done properly and you played as them, you might actually like using them.
Im so glad I didn’t buy mvc3, new this shit was going to happen.
Also put Bison or Juri in. Sick of seeing Chicken Li (bad voice actor is bad), Ryu, Viper was okay though
Wait, there were Marrow players? Probably more of those than Marrow fans as Marvel has all but given up on the character. Taskmaster has had a fan base ever since his deadpool interaction. MODOK honestly is Marvels pride and joy, one of the ugliest most ridiculous villians of all time and as old as the hills. That alone makes him worth his salt. When I talking about marketing general I think it’s best refer to the good guys, bad guys do draw people to the game/books but you generally base sales off of your antagonists in superhero books. At least in Marvel not many villains survive the transfer into their own title.
Yeah I’ll admit I was a Marrow player. Used her for the hell of it and got pretty decent with her I might add. (But I might still get destroyed since I only play the Arcade Mode)
Well I’ve never read the comics or paid much attention Marvel-wise since I don’t have alot of access to comic shops (out in the middle of nowhere). So obviously I’ve never heard of a majority until recently. Hell it took me quite some time until I found out that Spiral was a villain and Shuma-Gorath was a Marvel Villain (I seriously though that Capcom created him or something like that). I finally did research on most of the characters and found out more about them. Same thing with the characters here (but I researched them AS they were being released, not the other way around this time lol)
And I apologize but the last part of your comment lost me there.
All I’m really trying to say is that I (and probably half of the people who play this) don’t really care much for what happens to them in the comics as long as they get to play as them (Cable comes to mind because as someone said earlier he dies). C & D would be interesting to add just like X-23 and MODOK (but your reason for adding MODOK was very reasonable). Not everyone would like it since they wouldn’t know who they are (even I still don’t know much about them other than what I read on Wiki), but if the playstyle was spot on then maybe they would gain some recognition a little bit more.
I want blade! Blade would b the Dante for the marvel side. Story wise him hunting down morrigan would b awsome. Plus he isn’t a racial steriotype like Luke cage or as offinsive as (shudder) amigo… As far as the mvc2 marvel characters that were not included in this game, I could care less. Mvc2 was 10 years ago which is a very long time in comic book time. Cable, carnage, gambit have been MIA for a long time. Let them rip. I like new characters. Marvel should have a say in who they want in the game. It’s about cross promotion.
I want for marvel:
Blade
Silver surfer
Archangle (metal wings)
Beast ( it would b interesting to c a moble grapler
Iron fist (seems like he would b another wolverine… Which is ok)
Doc strange
Black panther
Sandman (seems like he would b a an awsome character in mvc3)
Nightcrawler (combo heavy teleporter, but isn’t overpowered on strength)
There’s a story in this game? O_O
Marvel wants interest focused on their major books, because that’s what gets them the most money.
putting somebody like blade in to be another Dante is pointless , if they play similar at all , that’s the reason punisher got left out ,you could swap the Chris model with punishers n it would still be good
is rather have as little playstyle clashes as can be,
Im more surprised that the producers of monster hunter didn’t want their characters in the game. Marvel has movies, cartoons, tv shows, comics, and a Hell of a lot of merchandise to promote their characters with. Video games should reflect current events in their world considering that their shelf life is like 1 year (marvel 2 being the exception), but video games for the most part stand alone and progress through sequils. Y would they not want more exposure, especially sin e the mobster hunter was so huge in Japan, but not so big in u.s. Mvc as a franchise being so huge in u.s. seems like a no brainer especially since monster hunter 3 is comming out… Perhaps they want their character to b dlc avalable when monster hunter three comes out for better cross promotion. I have a feeling this is what is happening. I wouldn’t b surprised to c megaman released as well to coincide with the megaman anniversary. Blade has a new anime comming out, I hope he gets in!
