Lupinko says there will be a Super MvC3 [rambling and dreams: enter at your own risk]

This is what Lei Lei looked like in Darkstalkers 3. Notice how much faster and more mobile she is in there than MvC3. Fact is, Capcom screwed up big time in their treatment of her.

Been thinking more and more about things I want other than characters for Super Marvel 3.

One thing I would really like is professional Shadow Mode. I know it’d be impossible to have AI programed to fight like Combofiend, but it would be awesome if they hired someone like Trag to record combos for the AI, even a few ToD ones, in addition have the shadows drop combos way less to make it more challenging.

Survival Mode, Time Attack Mode, because why not.

Rehaul training mode, make it so i have more control of what the computer AI does, I should be able to restrict the computer from snapbacking if I want, or from grabbing, etc.

More stages, another 8 or so.

Rehaul TAC system, Rehaul X-Factor, Kill DHC glitch

What are some things you want in Super Marvel 3 other than new characters.

  • Enhanced Shadow Mode: Since it’s just AI packs, make it fun. Like an AI that spams projectiles. An AI that goes for the longest combos at every opportunity. An AI that does Snap Backs every chance it gets. And so on. Also keep the themed and developer AIs. And maybe feature pro player AIs.
  • Replays: Save any offline/online match. Create file sets to keep an entire series. Send and receive files between friends. Replay theater, watch with friends. Public file share, check out selected fights from other players at will.
  • Enhanced Mission Mode: Based on a thread in FGD, Mission Mode can be expanded with user uploads of combos. Download, attempt, clear, and rate combos. Be the guys who uploads the best combos, or be the guy who beats the best combos.
  • Classic Versus Mode: 2v2 mode, damage is lowered to medium and X-Factor is gone.
  • Enhanced Lobby (assuming spectator doesn’t happen): Scrolling ticker details match as it happens, reporting events such as combos (including # of hits), hyper moves, KOs, tags, and more. Lifebar area shuffles to show who’s on point, and glows red when XF is in use. Credit cards no longer hump each other, instead portraits of point characters hump each other. Connection icon present. Can choose XF/No XF settings. Can remove players.
  • Concurrent Match Lobby: Under this setting any available players can challenge each other in a lobby. You can even hold a place after a certain match to face a preferred opponent. Ticker and lifebar feed removed during this setting to lessen confusion.
  • Rematch option for private 1v1 lobbies.

haha dream on.

That’s the idea, mate.

As random as it may be, I’d like to see the option to have 1v1 or 2v2, not just 3v3. Even if it was just for local vs. or something. I personally enjoyed the events for 1v1 and 2v2. I still play them sometimes. Another thing that I don’t think I’ve seen mentioned much, if at all, is the addition of extra rounds for matches. The main issue I have with playing is that the fights can sometimes last no time at all. While I understand that the game is fast paced and everything, it would still be nice to have it as an option.

I like that idea. Damage is already set to medium isn’t it? I’d like to see default damage set to low (one setting below medium). I enjoy playing on low a lot and I don’t see why that wasn’t the standard setting of the game. Remove X-factor and it feels a hell of a lot like mvc2.

Also Darker Phoenix and Darkest Phoenix.

X-23 is gdlk screw you guys.

Have fun with your Hsien Ko assist. Least Capcom likes X23.

On a serious note all I want is Psylocke.

I would like to have a custom AI mode kinda like FFXII’s Gambit system. Something to where we can program which combos for the computer to use and which assists to use and when they use them (for example: if Opp jumps > Anti-Air) include a combo accuracy counter that we can adjust from 0-100%.

OH MY FUCKING GOD! Sir what you have is utter gold. I especially love enhanced lobby idea, waaaayyy more fun than two humping cards

I would have preferred psylocke over x-23. X-23 level 3 could actually fit as psylocke’s level 3, add some psyblasts and you got psylocke.

Anyways concerning E3, do think they’ll announce anything about MVC3 DLC or H(yper)MVC3? I’m keeping my expectations low so i can be surprised as hell.

XvsSF Ryu and MSHvsSF Ryu would like to have a word with you please.

MvC3 Ryu just needs to be fixed correctly so that he can be played more effectively (ex: give him a faster fireball with “Sagat” like zoning abilities so he can actually push people away and make his zoning tactics fearful, because at this moment everyone just laughs at the Hadouken). Atm he’s just a weaker version of Gouki (hard for me to say this since I’m such a Ryu purist but its true), so they should at least do two things. Allow Gouki to have the stronger rushdown, while giving Ryu the stronger zoning tactics alas things that I mentioned earlier with the projectiles, and you’ll see an immediate impact on his game play improvement.

Here’s to hoping “Super” MvC3 reverts back to its original button system and removes the entire system of X-Factor. Rewarding someone greater damage potential, faster speed for losing a match is one of the most stupid things ever implemented in a fighting game (that also goes for all other fighting games which incorporates such systems as well).

Lastly, where’s Sagat in this? It’s about time he makes the cut. Also, I want a Monster Hunter Character in Super Marvel vs Capcom 3.

You realize Capcom takes pride in their XF system? The fact that you would even assert that they might take away XF is why this thread is ridiculous sometimes.

XF is always going to be in the game because people wouldn’t be playing this game right now if they had nothing when 2 of their characters got rocked. It’s just something that it’s in the game to keep it interesting from a casual and business standpoint. The main problem with XF is that the higher levels just last too long. Which is why Dark Phoenix face rolls the game right now instead of just being really good.

This is 2011. If you dont want XF you gotta buy MVC2 via DLC. There’s things they can do to change the game but you can’t do stuff like go back in time 10 years.

I understand that they take pride in it, however it doesn’t stop it from being a stupid idea.

It has nothing to do with going back to MvC2, get that nonsense out of here. It’s just a failed system that makes those spectacular come from behind victories stale as hell (We won’t see something as great as the 2007 comeback, now that was spectacular playing better then your opponent in order to win). Your 2 characters got rocked? Play better, outsmart your opponent next time. Not activate a universal option that makes you incredibly more powerful, faster etc, etc.

You’re still stuck in the past. I dont even get what you’re getting at. Why are you hoping for people that take pride in something that you can’t stand to change things? That’s like putting your hope in terrorists not trying to crash the plane you’re on.

It’s nice that you want the game to be like the old days where people just “come back” but shit aint like that no more. It’s not like that in SFIV although due to the tone downs they did in the system the game smart play and comebacks more true to the old days happen more often because Sagat doesn’t rape all your life into ultra anymore. Either way just like in this game you’re always getting something for nothing.

They can easily do things to tweak the XF and make it less faceroll. The main issue is that level 3 lasts 20 seconds. That’s just way too long. If they tone down the time on level 3 level 2 and 1 XF’s have much more strategical applications and since they will burn out earlier in the match the matches go back to real fights earlier on. A lot of high level play minus Dark Phoenix rarely relies on level 3 XF comebacks anymore and more so smart uses of 1 and 2 to kill off important characters and otherwise brings the fights back to a sense of normalcy. The fact that high level play is starting to more and more be less around XF3 even with its power goes to show that with some tweaks the game can be a lot smarter easily.

The stuff you’re saying is the stuff Capcom looks at it goes “oh well then please download and enjoy MVC2 via DLC”. There’s no hoping for what you want to happen in a 2011 game. It’s just not even worth hoping for. Just dont do it. If you want MVC3 to be a smarter game you can’t wish for it to be what it’s not ever going to be. You play other games instead.

I can’t even picture Sagat super jumping into an aerial combo. That ish would be mad funny.

Because concepts of the past shouldn’t be relevant or kept even though they’ve shown be great or even better, so no matter what they throw out we should all just sit here and eat it even though we know it taste terrible right? Not everyone agrees with you son. SF4’s Ultra concept has always been dumb, but the XF system is worst then the Ultra system (because its a one-move wonder, it doesn’t give its opponent crazy speed, damage etc, etc), hell XF in current MvC3 is even more atrocious then Vanilla SF4 Ultra.

Of course Capcom isn’t going to remove the X-Factor system, of course its my wishful thinking, it’s just my statement of what I think about the system and how illogical I find it to give rewards to a player who was losing the match up. No matter how you try to cover it up and throw out “shit aint like that no more” comments. Come from behinds should be because you simply outplayed your opponent. Shits dumb as hell in its current state, seeing people do like 3-5 hits and a super and its ocv to a full life character is terrible. Universal Options should assist the gameplay, not be a huge dominant significant factor. With the option of X-Factor it just simply makes great characters even more dominant, while the lesser characters w/ it won’t even gain a significant advantage from it besides a few of them.

You bring the idea that less people die with the showing of X-Factor level 3, true in some cases, however the option of having the ability to kill your entire opponents team is there and very real. XF completely changes how you play the game before and when its activated. Your basically trying to avoid your opponent and doing your best to not get hit, even though you were winning the entire match up. How do you go from controlling the match up to “Oh shit, I have to really be careful now because I can potentially lose if I fuck up once.” Really?

However since I’m enjoying this conversation with you so much, lets try to talk about how to improve the shitty X-Factor system. Firstly, I believe something that strong when activated, that if you are hit once (blocking doesn’t count, it has to be a hit) while in X-Factor that you’ll lose it for the remainder of that round, plus the nerfing of it for less damage, less time etc, etc. With this, then it would be 10x better already. The player would then have to be more cautious at when to use it to make it most effective. This would dramatically tone down the X-Factor system, and not make it such a dominant universal option that’s shown time and time again in current MvC3.

Well at least you’re getting somewhere now. That wishing it’s not in the game shit had to go. It was cute 2 years ago but it doesn’t get anybody anywhere. You can’t change the way games are made just hope they realize they can do other things with what they make. Capcom is gonna make you sit there and eat the XF system all day. Only thing we can do is convince them that it’s too strong in its current implementation and could use tweaking.

Yeah there’s a lot of things they can do to tone down the system within the system itself and have the game still be smart. It’s just a matter of what they choose to do. Even something small like a tonedown in the duration plus what you mentioned could go a long way. Just making it so you have to not get hit wouldn’t really work out alone because some characters are hard as fuck to hit when they’re in XF any way. It should give you a bit of a boost in the fight if you use it at the right time but towards the end of the fight it’s capable of crushing entire teams and that’s not really what it needs to be about.

My 5 finger wishlist

  1. Remove level 3 X Factor
  2. Remove level 3 X Factor
  3. Remove level 3 X Factor
  4. Remove level 3 X Factor
  5. Remove level 2 X Factor
