He was in TvC, so Capcom already knew what to do with him. Plus, he’s a fairly cool character. Just wish Gene was I so Joe/Gene/Ammy would be a team.
After looking at this list, I can see why MvC3 got so many RE characters. Hopefully an All-Capcom game might get some Monster Hunter characters to increase sales. As far as reps from specific franchises may go, I think the big ones (SF, RE, MH) should get 5 each, the next level (DmC, Onimusha, Mega Man) should get 3 reps each, then there should be reserved spots for Final Fight, Okami, G&G, Dead Rising, and Viewtiful Joe. Then they might include characters like Gene, Strider, Bionic Commando, PTX-40A, Batsu, Amingo, and Ruby Heart.
 guess that’s what i get for not buying any comics this year… I might have too if i thought Apocalypse, Bishop, etc were going to play a bigger role in them. My skim through the AvX titles was not what I expected.
Still… isn’t this a thread about an all Capcom rostered game? Shouldn’t we… i don’t know, discuss Capcom characters?
That is a very thoughtful list, and bringing back capcom reps from TvC and MvC2 just makes so much sense. I could see 2 reps for Final Fight, Okami, G&G, Dead Rising, and Viewtiful Joe if there is a 2nd iteration or a large enough roster count. Maybe a 6th SF or a 4th DmC rep (i’ld want a 4th MM instead though) too. What rep tier would BoF fall under? A single rep or maybe 3 for the (is there enough) fan demand?
Fuck the haters, I’d pay for a 10 dollar expansion pack on day one if it added that girl from Cherry Tree High Comedy Club. It’s one thing to troll with Wright in UMvC3, but it’s another level of win when you beat someone with the hero from a dating simulator.
Also, I’d pay another ten dollars just to run Dudley/Anakaris in a fighting game.
I don’t think any comic played a role in the character choice of (U)MvC3. They just move too fast and are too weird. A look at Marvel’s list of movies in development explains a lot of the choices.
I would buy it just to fight Ryu with some crazy MH dragon. But I don’t think MH would get as many characters as SF or RE. Also let’s not forget a lot of other Capcom fighting/beat’em’up games that deserve a place in such a game: Powerstone, Rival Schools, SenBasa, Red Earth.
Man, now that I think about all these old games/other franchises, I would throw so much money at a Capcom B-List fighting game. When I look at all their franchises it seems like a waste to give RE or any other big franchise more than 3 characters, because there are so many less popular characters that would be cool. But there is also no reason for Capcom to include them and I’m an old fart who likes obscure stuff and there are more people who would love to see whatever RE/MM/DMC character instead of unknown character X. And those people are also pretty good at spamming the Ask Capcom section of Capcom-unity.
You forgot Ghosts & Goblins and Dino Crisis which a lot of people played as well but I agree with most of those choices.
To be fair, Okami deserves at least 2 characters, the game has been re-released and it is just plain awesome. Ninetails would be nice and she has several forms.
Okami’s biggest issue is that it only has one strong protagonist, and some pretty OP villains. You will definitely get Amateratsu, but who else? Susano? Issun?
Compare that to Dead Rising (Frank West and Chuck Greene) and GG (Arthur, Red Arremer, Princess, Maximo, Death). Those series have a greater staple of iconic characters to choose from.
Waka could work… although he probably would also fit in the OP category.
But it’s not like the company is going to give a fuck about that in a crossover. I mean, MvC3 has Dark Phoenix AND Dormammu, extremely powerful beings in their source material.
As I said, Ninetails could fit in quite well even in her Rao’s form, that encounter didn’t feel as overpowered and the character would be interesting without taking up half of the screen (and has epic boobs). I agree with Buss, strong entities shouldn’t be alienated.
Also, not only do I ask for another character from the Okami series, I want a stage as well. There is so much potential in Okami’s artstyle to be used in a fighting game. They should make Amaterasu some justice and make her attacks a lot flashier, she didn’t benefit from MvC3’s art direction. And last but not less important, they should revamp the way that her celestial brush works, change the cutting positions on the screen, as it is, you can only control height at a melee range.
If Lupinko is right with this, what he is most of the time, than dunno what to think about it… UMVC engine is nice but I they really have to change some stuff to make the game unique.
BUT PLEASE CAPCOM, even if I know the we don#t need another Shoto in it… Please put Ken in such a game as well. UMVC engine + Ken moves is something I would really love to see
Okami stage was originally planned for Vanilla but was dropped because the art style clashed with the rest of the game. Though the stage’s music was complete and is in the game disc
