Lunch Time! Tron Q & A Thread - Ask a Question get an Answer

Yeah thats exactly what I try to do with drones. Call them at the start of an attack sequence or before I do some sort of move or moves that will occupy them for a second or 2. Like you said in so many words, I try to protect sent to he can protect me so i can protect him, and so on.

I feel like in a lot of ways the drones/lariat backing sort of plays on their emotional state. If they get complacent, I ship drones to their doorstep. If they get frantic, Haggar asks them to calm down, etc. It’s a lot of fun! I like your configuration too, actually. I’d mess with it some, but first want to get the TSH version practiced to the subconscious level since it’s still new to me.

The key for me now will be not dropping 'bos and figuring out matchup themes, and this team should be gravy. Talking with Chrisis on YIM, he sees concerned that good Magnetos and Vipers will make life hell for a point Tron. I’m sure he’s right, but can’t be unwinnable.

Does anyone have an answer for Akuma with Tron? I know Tron has alot of 10:0 matchups, but most of those are because of zoning. For me whenever an Akuma player is rushing me down haphazardly every attempt to stop them gets stuffed by his jesus priority/better startup.

It is hardly news to anyone that good zoning shuts down Tron. Conventional wisdom is to partner her with a good projectile assist (eg Sentinel) to clear a path. I have one problem with this strategy: I have tried running every character with a good projectile (ie better than hadouken) assist and do not like any of them. Sure, when Tron is out there I am happy enough, but once she is down I find that I do not like actually using any of these guys. I run Tron on point and currently use Spencer (Armour Piercer) on anchor.

Are there any alternative strategies to handling good zoning, or do I just have to suck it up and play one of those characters (or even let myself be a free against zoning)?

With Tron+Doom i’ve found out that using Bandit Boulder(to nullify some projectiles) while calling Molecular Shield is a good way to momentarily shutdown zoning and go in for an attack. If they’re airborne you can dash and wait a moment to go for a high/low. If they’re grounded you could tick Bonne Mixer(H version has enough frames for Doom to recover and be ready to call again to extend the command grab into Beacon Bomb combos). It doesn’t work all the time and you want to be about mid/ 3/4 screen to do it, but it gives some hope against those 9:1 matchups.

is there a way to combo the normal tron corner ender with doom beam assist? thanks.

Yeah but the timing is very strict. Once you’ve landed and done c.H you want to call Doom right after the first hit of forward+H(Double tapping the assist button seems easier for me). Then you do the L Beacon Bomb to capture them as they’re falling from Plasma Beam. (M has too long of a startup and H’s trajectory will miss on most characters.)

ty for the quick reply! now i have the same question but with wolverine. do any of his assist work? i dont actually have a system at home so cant really try/practice it. thanks!

zerker barrage works, but the timing is pretty strict too.

does anyone have video of the nerdjosh corner setup with tron and she hulk that is apparently inescapable. He used it at a early match at wnf after evo. I don’t know if its just not practical at higher level play or what but i haven’t seen it. If anyone knows what i’m talking about can you help me find it?

It was something like this:

the reset part is exactly right, i think he just fancied up the tron side of the combo, i think he did an air combo and OTG’d with she hulk into the servebot trap.

Thanks!

Is the Gustaff Fire still a decent assist in UMVC3 despite the removal of it’s invincibility, or is it now useless?

the fire is good for nullifying projectiles, but with the HSD and damage scaling it brings, it is definitely not worth it in comparison to just putting her on point
