The fact that distribution of the stick is spotty right now doesn’t help… Still far easier to find the LS-32’s, LS-56’s and even LS-40’s! How many places HAVE LS-58’s in stock or even intend to carry them??? Right now, American players are limited to Akihabarashop and one place in NYC for sources of LS-58’s. Many people will NOT import parts and a few of the parts vendors are having PR problems with members of the Fight Community.
I use a LS-56-01 with round gate I’ve found them to be very precise sticks. I can nail an SRK motion on them 9/10 times plus I’ve found double tapping forward and back to be insanely easy.
This warning is definitely valid for people who have both the Mad Catz TE and the HRAP 3 SA…
The problem is do you use the MS mounting plate with the HRAP V3/VX cases? I think the answer was already “Yes” to that question but I don’t remember exactly… I’ll double-check.
(NOTE: Didn’t find the answer for 100% certain but someone mentioned that he used an MS plate to mount the LS-56-01 in a VLX joystick. Unless Hori is being different on purpose, I think the VLX and HRAP V3/VX share a common joystick mount design. IE, the MS mounting plate should work withe HRAP V3/VX, too… Hori rarely redesigns parts. They recycle what they can to save money.
(The MS mounting plate makes sense. It has four attachment points in common with the JLF TP-1 mounting plate.)
This definitely has to be checked on a case-by-case basis for the different joystick cases out there. I know on the old HRAP 3’s, you use the stock LS-56-01 mounting plate (VF mounting plate) with the non-universal mounts. The LS-56 in those cases screws in where the “wings” of the JLF screw in. As for the modded T5’s, you have to measure from the bottom of the faceplate and put in roughly 4-6mm of spacers (nuts and washers) to get the proper stick height clearance above the faceplate. (That’s using a flat mounting plate for any joystick with that faceplate.) All LS-56 mounting plates are flat plates… They have different lengths X widths. The MS mounting plate is closest dimensionally to the flat TP-1 plate of a JLF.
Interesting news on the LS-58-01 shaft. Shouldn’t be that surprising since it’s basically a tweaked LS-56-01…
If the throw is the same as an LS-56, I assume the engage distance of the LS-58 is the same as the LS-56 too? I’m just trying to weigh up whether to buy one of these to replace my current LS-56, but if it is fundamentally the same then I may as well just replace the slightly too stiff LS-56 spring of mine with that of the lighter LS-58 and be done with it.
Anything you want to know about the P-40 plate? I plan on buying a LS-58 when my HRAP VX-SA comes in so I can check out the plates. I’ll definitely take a look at the P-40 to see if you can use it on the mounting bracket of a VX/V3-SA.
But, the last time I saw one it was nothing special, looked exactly like the P-40 plate for a LS-32/40 besides the mounting holes are made for the LS-56/58.
I assume d3v was asking about the flat P-40 plate not, the SS one which is the same as the LS-32/40 one, too.
I live close enough to Videogamesnewyork that I can drop by the store to buy arcade parts when I need to so I have seen the flat P-40 plate in person which is why I typed in my previous post “last time I saw.”
I still do not see any pictures of LS-58-01 with Seimitsu Mounting Plate P-40 in this page.
Which is what tech7 typed about, not LS-58-01 with SS Mounting Plate P-40.
I took some pictures of a LS-58-01 with a flat P-40 plate and my brand new Hori HRAP VX-SA (pictures are cropped to minimize size).

A few notes:
As the pictures show, the P-40 is usable on the mounting bracket that Hori uses on their new sticks (I assume this has always been the case with any universal mounting bracket). The only small issue, might be a little hard to see from the picture, is aligning the screw holes properly so you’re stick isn’t crooked. This plate also works perfectly on a Qanba Q4RAF.
Since the P-40 plate is new to me, I noticed that there are two screw holes in the middle of plate. I assume this means the P-40 plate can be mounted in a HRAP3 or anything else that uses that style of mounting bracket. If that is the case, then the P-40 plate is the most universal plate for the compact Seimitsu sticks.
If anyone is still wondering, the MS plate mounts in the mounting bracket of the VX-SA.
I’d love to test it, but I’m afraid of opening up my Arcana Heart 2 stick (the only stick I have with that type of mounting bracket) since the wiring job I did when I customized it is extremely messy (I still feel stupid using solid-core wires when I did the mod-job).
jdm714, in the post before yours, did say that the middle mounting holes are the same as the VF and I take his word for it. =D What I can do is next time I go back to VGNY to buy anything I can line up the P-40 and VF plate and see if the mounting holes match.
