I’m not good at fighting wolverines with IF, but what I usually do if he dive kicks, I wave dash under him if I can and make sure he knows who rules the ground. You can punish as misplaced S and of course random supers is not an option for wolverine usually. It can still be hard match the opponent is putting on proper pressure.
If someone get’s too predictable with their projectiles, they’re in range for a fists of fury and they don’t have an invulnerable super, I’d recommend that you do it. Normally to pin them down I try for a heavy and go into a normal string ending with a quick kick, calling a projectile assist (preferably), and continuing the pressure, while being weary of your opponent’s options.
Bad match up for me is zero. He has projectiles AND higher priority normals (I think). Although I do have the ability to kill him in 1 combo, landing that hit another story. He can run from you if chooses and rush you down if it fits his fancy.
it’s pointless fighting zero, ammy or trish. You literally have to rely on your supers to hurt them other than that use your second character. Remember you can change your fighter before the match starts. Don’t get IF killed or damaged for impossible matchups.
I feel like wolverine vs Iron fist on a 1v1 no assist is an even match up. I usually do well against wolverines and weskers. Just rush them and you’ll see how they’ll begin to panick and just jump back. When you get them to do this, air throw like a mother****
Ammy doesn’t seem like much of a threat to me. Zero is a hard matchup and trish is hard when she rushes and impossible when she keep-aways.
Usually when a wolverine jumps back and I try to approach them they dive kick. Weskers I feel generally I can beat but sometimes I lose to the most predictable things. (Air gun shot mainly.)
I also have trouble comboing off IF’s throws solo and getting good damage off them when I do combo off them. I’m pretty good at landing them though.
Also, I don’t see why people say IF’s air normals are bad. They are bad for converting air to air but I love his air heavy. It’s pretty actually. It has a decent hitbox and a good amount of hitstun for a combo that can be confirmed off a light of medium. IF’s heavy is awesome too.
fighting zero is dependent on both your blocking ability and your ability to blow him up with your supers if need be. A thing to remember is that zero can’t really block during his airdashes or teleports, so using a stray spirit of the dragon while he’s in the air or throwing a fists of fury on reaction is a completely viable tactic. with fists of fury you also have the opportunity to combo after to potentially take out the buster warrior.
I’m starting to realise that what makes iron fist effective more than anything is match up knowledge. he really is a character where you have to know everything the opponent has for or against him to be viable. perhaps a matchup thread is in order to help all iron fists level up their game.
yep…that’s exactly what it is. At first I got angry when I lost to weskers but now when I fight them I feel confident. Once you gain that confidence there’s literally nothing that can stop you except for spamming projectiles. In this situation you should have a character in your team in response to projectile spammers. He’s a solid character. Just play smart that’s all
