Ken’s definitely better (start watching a bunch of professional match vids; count how many Kens you see and compare them to Goukis.). Like pherai said, his stamina/stun is way better. All of Ken’s normals are just great. His SAIII has very little (no?) start-up and links of off rediculous shit. It’s a really short bar and there are three stocks of it. I’m kinda thinking his tier placement was more or less an accident. I will go so far as to say that were Gouki to gain better stamina/stun/EX/less start-up on his SAI, he’d possible be better than Ken.
2 frame startup. Sick sh*t. Button mashers (stick wigglers) can punish when they get hit… Just super sweet, ain’t it?
he’d possibly be better than chun, and maybe on par with yun. Gouki with good stun bar/stamina = broken.
yeah wow… ive always used Akuma since hes been in the alpha series and now i get to hear and realize how downgraded he’s been. makes me think really if its eve worth the pain to really stick with him as a prefered character.
well hes by no means bad. hes ranked 7th in japan. sure he will took a bit more work than playing ken, but i say stick with it!

i respect that you feel its a labor of love, that it is. however i play to win and my main is akuma. aside from given low tier chars in 3s a lot of chars have potential to be played and win. even some top players can win a few rounds with the bottom 3 
i think you all need to overlook the limitations of the characters and focus on the limitations of yourself as a player. never forget, fundamentals >>> tricks :wgrin: . … and for fucks sake watch some match (by match i mean both Match the player and other actual matches) videos people.
wow although im not sure wat the letters on top of the chart mean, i can obviously see the numbers and that he places 7th. i just dont know really wat the letters and numbers stand for
i feel the exact same as you, although it probably didn’t come out that way because I was addressing it to some people on here who seem to just be discovering that akuma isn’t top tier. for me, knowing akumas limitations is more for knowing where i need to work extra hard than for having a premptive excuse for losing.
and trust me, ive seen plenty of match videos (of both varieties).

well, follow the gouki row, and compare him with yun (the first y). it has a 4. this means, in a 10 match set, with players of equal skill level, akuma will win 4 matches out of 10, based solely on character advantage. similarly, if you trace yuns row all the way down to G (for gouki) you’ll find a 6, which is how many matches yun would win. the second rightmost column shows how many matches that character wins total out of 180 possible matches (10 per character). then the next row shows how much higher or lower that is than 90 (a perfect .500 record). better work on your anti yang game!
