I’ve been playing characters that have to work to get close since I can remember. Sometimes, I get tired of chasing folks around the screen. I figured I’ll try to learn Guile and zone.

After promptly getting my ass handed to me by Viper, I went back to Makoto.

From 5000BP steadily down to 3000BP. Maybe I’m just terrible at Street Fighter.

Considering dropping Makoto altogether, just too frustrating.
I even raged and broke some stuff which is extremely out of character for me…

I wouldn’t worry about points too much, once you hit B rank it’s much tougher to get points. Any D fight nets you nothing and loses you a decent chunk and a C fight nets you less points if you win than if you lose. So you have to win a lot more fights to stay ahead against D and C fighters. You lose the same points as you gain if you fight a B rank so you need to stay consistent with those guys, and you get more if you fight an A, so, yea, you have to work hard to get points once you hit B rank.
You don’t lose anywhere near the as many points at D and C ranks.

Personally I preferred the Vanilla system where you worked your way through a bracket of people at the same level, so if you’re beating those guys you’re moving through the bracket. When you rank up you move into a different bracket and you only fight the people from that bracket. If you lose you don’t drop, but you don’t gain either, so you’re kinda at your peak.

This new system does make you feel like sh!t, it’s not a good system IMO.

played online and lost a lot of points, then i played against many many D class, win 1 point per match to eventually lose against a C or B once to lose all those points again 8(

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCKKKKK!!! I lost so much today and not because of poor decision making. Today, lag was the culprit. I landed so many mk Tsurugis, but I couldn’t combo into cr.MP. I know for a fact that lost damage cost me at least half a dozen games. As an added bonus, I had the hardest time doing wake-up Tsurugi, instead I kept getting Karakusa. It’s like the computer couldn’t/wouldn’t read the “up-toward” command. Frankly, I feel robbed.

Has anybody experienced more lag during peak hours (in Ranked)? All my opponents had 4 green bars, but certain combos were ABSOLUTELY not connecting. I almost never have this problem when I play later at night. Or is this problem all in my head?

EDIT: Nevermind about the lag. Found out my roommate was home. She was probably streaming porn while I was playing.

I know how you feel about the tsurugis… It comes out as karakusa even when i’m STANDING… I’m like wtf when i lost to my brothers F.SRK spamming ken. I mean he’s a good player so he knows all the frame data and crap but still…

LOL. You must be young if you’re surprised a woman could be into porn. Hang around women enough and you’ll find that in many ways they aren’t too different from men. But as for gettin down with her…ewww. She’s like my older sister, bro. Fucking gross.

In any case, a vast majority of my saltiness comes from my set-up. Since all my gear is in my room and the router is set up in the living room, I’m forced to go wireless. No doubt I’m getting extra frames of lag. Offline, I have no problems doing what I want. I think this might be another reason I’ve been spending more and more time on 3S. GGPO is the shit. Whatever I practice comes out how I practiced it. No adjusting. For an old dog like me who grew up in the arcades, the occasional rollback is a small price to pay to get away from underwater feel of AE.
