I went 7-2 at nec. Almost made it out of my pool. I went up against this balrog. Went to the LAST round we each had 1 jabs worth of hp left. He whiffs a sweep I dash in and get a karakusa off and he DOESNT die. I was so thrown off I mistimed my fp and got jabbed. I could’ve been top 32
Dammit to HELL!
Lesson learned I hope. Go through with your combos, don’t celebrate or think it’s over until you see that KO actually appear on screen.
i was broken
I hate it when that happens- part 2
Came up on this high ranked Ryu (the highest ranked player Ive faced so far) and whipped him the first round…

…then I lost the next two rounds! Then me and the other guy in the lobby, lost the next 7 games to him before I beat him once…and he left
The round is funny for the amount of poor execution and missed punishes from both of us

And this video is just sick. As in diarrhea sick : (

Avoided the freaking ultra and tried to take advantage, only to get caught in it anyway
I absolutely despise the mirror match. Had some Makoto constantly focusing earlier, I swear half his life way grey. I jump in on his focus this time intent to Kara him…this is the ONE TIME he backdashes and then tags me with U2. Lost about 500 pp today. Kinda miffed.
Not exactly raging at all however…
Has the level of SF dropped down anywhere else? Cause playing Japan players I can certainly say their level (online) in general has dropped. I think part of the reason may be because of Poongko, they watch him and learn that uppercut/throw/whatever works but don’t know how to read people. Reading people well is what makes Poongko so deadly.
I think I just expected more from Japan, it was easier when I played Abel cause in general they actually thought before they done something. pppski, 3rd highest ranked Akuma player also didn’t seem as deadly as you’d expect. I could’ve beaten him I reckon if I didn’t mind fuck myself (hit him out of air, dashed under, inputted a backdash after dashing under and somehow forward dash into him despite no forward input after dashing under, my mind just got stuck trying to figure out what happened…which isn’t what you want).
Also losing cause of throws being harder to tech online. :\ Seems like they figured out it’s harder to tech online…which makes that DP/throw/whatever more troublesome.
Spoiler
Ha, I played zan twice in endless yesterday. Tore him up in the first match, then he started jumping around like a moron in the 2nd…it was a 1 bar connection too so I couldn’t AA him. I was so disgusted by the play that I left after that. I might still have the matches in my log actually, seriously though, dude must have did upwards of 12 jumps in one round.
edit: Just counted, 11 jumps, my exaggeration was close.
Okay, this one is rage. Ibuki, wake up Ultra. I block it, input Ultra and get EX Fukiage (PP and then PPP plink style) instead and lose cause he uppercuts on my recovery…watched replay, go into training room and in training room…when I input the same thing I inputted in that match, I get Ultra. So the game pretty much just wanted to fuck me over. Thanks game. Fuck you too.
Had the exact same thing happen to me the other day vs some Sagat who does random wakeup Ultra. Look at the input display, flawless 2x QCF PPP, I swear.
Not really a rage post and more of an annoyed post; man, I hate when people play the match-up right against Makoto. It’s lame, and it’s annoying, especially against characters where buffered cr.MP won’t work well against their pokes or at least their main pokes.
How to play the match-up against Makoto like a champ:
Stay beyond dash/HK Tsurugi range throwing out safe moves, whiff punish everything like a boss.
Use lots of FAs.
Stand jab after a blocked Tsurugi like a boss.
Don’t press buttons while getting pressured, but DO random it out to get away.
These are all beatable habits, in a way exploitable (taking many risks). I know, I have to deal with them all the time when I play. But god damn, it’s certainly not fun to deal with. /QQ
I’ve experienced it a few times, the first time I actually checked was against a Cody, I knocked him down, and done a delay Ultra in reaction to any movement from him (risky I know), he done his up-kick like I expected (going for the chip) and won (which I didn’t expect)…I checked the inputs, Ultra was inputted perfectly and in time but Makoto just stood there and took that bastards foot to the face. :\
Since it’s a rage thread, here’s mine:
So, I’m a scrub. One of those guys who plays “casually” a lot down here in Brasil, but would never get pass the first fights (usually went 0-2, 1-2). I simply couldn’t stop with a main, too, which adds to the whole scrub thing.
Anyway, I decided to go with Makoto. Why? Well, explosive offense and can take a little beating. Mind you, the fact she’s not a joke character (like Rufus) or a bad crack at someone I idolize (Fei Long), and that she’s non-conventional (a little girl with straight punches that hit like a train), help a lot too (mind you, I have no idea if she’s a good character for my play style, but then again, what play style?).
Been playing Ranked Matches at PSN, because around here everyone either knows each other to play Endless or you’re stuck with Ranked Matches. But Cthullu be damned, I couldn’t get ANYTHING going. I just got beat up by a Gief who loved to jump around and Lariat. I felt like a fool. Whenever I got into deffense, I’d crouch tech my opponents blockstrings, and that resulted in some c.lk poking them sometimes. Which would stop both of us, since I don’t buffer Hayates (incidentally, one of the things I gotta get my ass to Training and nailed it down). Bison pumelled me too. The players weren’t bad, nothing special either, but I couldn’t stop taking cross-ups, even when I knew a cross-up was coming. I blocked correctly most of the time, but I got pissed off and tried to do something, which resulted in damage, usually a knockdown, and more cross-ups.
Both Guys I played were pretty good, and I simply could do nothing against their offense.
Ken / Ryus were a mixed bag. Sometimes total scrubs (scrubbier than me), against which I won most times. But when faced with a decent Ryu, I saw how many stupid jump ins I was doing, and how I couldn’t convert anything into substantial damage.
Oh, and I HATE Oni. I can’t block that stupid gimmicky move on reaction, and I STILL don’t know which side he’s going to. FML.
So, I don’t know if I’m raging or just plain sad.
Saturday was the second tournament in a row that I’ve lost to only Honda. Not even the same Hondas. I can cr.mk every butt splash, jump back to punish EX Headbutt, stuff his st.rh with st/cr.mp and jab whiffs with st.mp OS’s. I can sit, I can wait, I can keep myself from dashing forward after a blocked headbutt, I can inch forward with f.mp and keep his jabs in check along the way. I can do this all day every day, no problem. Do you want to know why I keep losing to Honda?
-
I cannot anti air this fat sack of shit. I swear to god Honda’s early j.mp beats mp fuki. This happened in tournament, and I was so busy trying to keep blood from shooting out of my ears I lost the round. I didn’t do it mad early, but that shit was OUT and Edmond just chopped right through it like a breaking board.

I cannot stop jumping at this fat sack of shit. Every day I wake up and write “UP FORWARD LIKE A GODDAMN HERO” on a piece of paper, shred it, mix it with paint thinner, and shoot it straight into my veins. Even the devil on my shoulder will scream “Stay on the ground, you dumbass, he’s got a charge”, but I just…I want to hurt him so bad. This is a personal problem that is encoded in my damn DNA.
God I hate Honda
I finally cracked 12k BP today. Though I did lose to some Juri who thought EX Pinwheel was a good idea any time we were close and at neutral frames. Dunno how I managed that one. Then again, I’m confounded by many of my loses.
Honestly that one thing is precisely what has almost caused me to quit Makoto numerous times. Random EX fukiage after a karakusa or getting fukiage mid-combo after a crouching jab because I apparently held down forward 15frames ago. No other character do I consistently have that happen with (get a DP type attack on accident regularly) I’ve also had it happen with FADC sweep but usually that is just my own fault.
Either way it pisses me off to no end because her DP is the single most punishable DP in the game since it doesn’t even put the opponent in blockstun AND you are grounded(so they can get the max possible combo since juggling isn’t an issue.)AND it can’t be FADC’d. Plus its recovery is 32F (same as Dudley EX Jet Upper, MORE than any of Cammy’s cannon spikes, more than a whiffed HP Thunder Knuckle from C Viper.)
Was getting beat so bad last night, I got a headache. The only thing that made it go away was a nice hot relaxing bath…at 1am!
It’s cool that most of the guy went surgical on me and took me apart with a combination of aggression and third strike esque reads, what blows my gaskets is when they beat you 3 times then you finally think you got a read on them by beating them once…and they leave the fricking lobby. Why? Then I get beat by the next guy and the cycle starts over
Yeah, it’s hard to play Makoto without any information on your opponent. When I play Ken, I know exactly how I’m going to play. I usually start off by abusing kara-throw then segue into actually completing combos. But with Mak, I have to gather data for a few matches before I can start playing well usually.
That’s one of the reasons I think she doesn’t do well generally at tourneys, if you have 6 rounds max to learn how your opponent works…well I couldn’t do it. I’m too slow at picking up on habits. Sometimes it takes me 10 or so losses before I get a handle on how someone plays, especially if they’re good and are mixing it up well. And if they’re really good, then I got no chance!
Hm, reminds me of a post from the past, not completely related so…
Spoiler
I remember…think it was Mossad…talking about 801 Strider and comparing his style to Vryu after he’d played both. He said something like, Vryu figures you out then proceeds to destroy you while 801 Strider typically has a plan of attack and goes with it. That’s not to say that 801 Strider doesn’t learn his opponent’s tendencies, I mean, just look at his match at evo against that fei, yeah! FUKIAGE THOSE CHICKEN WINGS! But I think he meant that Vryu’s game relies more heavily on learning his opponent than Strider’s does.
Argh, I went from 3700pp to 2300pp in the space of a week. Attended a tournament recently, was reminded of the stark difference between offline and online inputs (“WHY THE FFFFFFFFFFF ISN’T MY IAT COMING OUT?! STOP KARAKUSA’ING AAAAA–” etc) lost to a 'rog when both of us had a pixel of health, then I just spiralled downhill from there online. Everyone guesses right, I guess/react wrong. Think I need a break from this game
On my way back from fr and my brain is leaking out my ears. I beat valle, tatsu, and Rom in pools and the only recorded footage of me playing was getting murdered by fourwude. Getting that far and hopping on stream was a new kind of terrifying.
Ton of fun though.
