Yeah, I expect it to cancel into hypers, but I’m hoping you can cancel it some other way. Then again, it has been ages since we saw a new build. I suppose anything could be game. I would love to ping-pong my opponent across the screen all day. Suffer, Purification, Hellfire, then Hyper. I’m sure you can’t do that, but it would be hilarious. Even if you can cancel into his teleport, that’s good enough for me.
He’s made of glass.
Suffer seems a bit slow, but his ground fire is extremely fast and can even be comboed into. His liberation with charges is also pretty good for keepaway. Then there’s always pushblocking.
I think the 8-way is more of a way to remind your opponents that just because you are in on Dormammu does not mean he is free.
It is interesting that Dormammu might need an anti-air “get off me”, and his beam DHCs perfectly into Ryu’s.
Roughly equal it seems. It is a bit slow to come out, but it has a huge area. It will still be a great assist, but Dark Hole is also very nice.
you can totally cancel it into his launcher, which totally does no good considering the nature of the move. If you’re close enough for th launcher to grab them off the wallbounce tho’, that’d be a pretty damn stylin’ combo starter.
Purification hits OTG though. Why can’t you just follow up with that after doing 6C wallbounce move? 6C, wait for animation to end, purification, super.
From full screen that should still give you plenty of time to hit the opponent with purification linked in after 6C, even if the move doesn’t cancel into anything.
you could do :r::snkc: xx super then instead. Only reason I can think of to not use purification there would be using up the OTG, but if you’re gonna just use chaotic flame, that doesn’t matter anyways. That would also be stylish as hell tho’
you’re going to build more meter and do more damage if you can fit purification in there though. Dormammu does that in one of his early reveal videos, picking someone up with purification and then comboing into Chaotic flame.
Or you know, you could do 6C into purification if you wanted to be conservative and just avoid blowing meter every time you land something, which seems to be the done thing for Dormammu at the moment.
piss around with zoning tools. Twitch super on any single hit and repeat until you run out of meter.
Also, Chaotic flame is somewhat less effective right at the end of the screen where the hitbox kind of trails off. You probably won’t get the best damage off it if you cancel into chaotic right away. Floating bomb’s too slow.
So Dormammu can’t teleport after he uses portal or purification?
I found some videos of someone using Dorm’s air dash to play a rush down stlye. Just go to uploads and type RaYzYrbYrn. I don’t know if this has already been posted.
Dark hole keeps them in block stun for a long time from what I’ve heard. I forget who it was but someone mentioned that when picking your assist, Dark Hole for rushdown, liberation for keep away.
Sry i meant if dark hole connects, can u teleport and combo off it? From all the videos i’ve seen, he can only teleport in front or behind u, but he is always in the air. Maybe if u hold an attack button, he might be able to teleport anywhere on the screen like spiral does. I need to try this out when i get the game.
Lol he knows he will be too good if he could. I noticed some of his attacks miss when he tries to combo u in the air or when he teleports he usually faces the wrong direction. I’m guessing they haven’t completely polished Dormammu yet so, maybe in the final version he will be able to teleport out of Dark Hole and combo consistently in the air. Maybe.
Unless you really need to hit somebody at the top of the screen Dark Hole seems like a better assist. It’s just huge and gets in the way more, plus its more combo friendly.
I guess that also means players like Wesker can’t so confidently teleport behind you during Suffer, since you can still punish them - I like it.
Is Suffer untechable? Besides, I wash hoping for a little more power. I guess that’s better than nothing.
Yeah, you can always use the time post-purification to charge your fists as well.
Dark hole from what I have seen. The downside is if you are fighting aerial opponents (Storm) it’s pretty weak unless you have them pressured hard. I am hoping to run Sentinel/Dormammu/??? and utilize the pillars plus Sentinel’s range to make my opponents afraid.
It would be more inspiring if he didn’t fail at it, haha.
I guess it depends on the character. Maybe Skrull can combo off of purification with his teleport?
Dark hole also has the advantage that afaik, it absolutely eats anything else that the opponent puts on the screen. I think you could even duck behind it to avoid hailstorm (ala king kobun)
Yeah, I think so, but the way it works makes it harder to use that way, especially the assist. Using dark hole to eat doom rocks would be easy if you were fast enough. Using purification for that would be tricky as hell.
